Amy's Journal: Comments Welcome!

WOW Amy! OMG! That was so funny about your Church story!!! Families can drive you insane, but you gotta love em!

Good luck getting ready for Disney!!! We don't go til January!!!

Have a great day!
Stacie

Loved the church story! At least you can see some humor in it, although it must have been not-so-amusing at the time! :lmao:

I think it's great that you are eating in while on vacation. We usually always eat breakfast in our room (milk & cereal for everyone!). It's good to go out too, but it gets old. It's one thing I hate about all my work travel - it's either starve or eat out! :confused3

I hope you are able to get everything done, while keeping your sanity, before you go! :wizard:

Hey thanks everyone. I have to laugh sometimes where my parents are concerned, otherwise, I'd go crazy! I have to say, I am getting a very real perpsective on growing old and am just so thankful they are both still in my life.

Today I was at school all morning. I am really proud of the kids I am working with. They are all memorizing either poems or scriptures for a Christian schools speech meet in November. I am glad I am not judging again, seeing how hard they work makes it really hard to pick only one winner per grade! Then I took my mom to lunch and said goodbye. She only cried a bit, thankfully my brother and sil are flying her and stepdad out to see them while we are gone. She'll be fine and I am ready for some R & R at WDW!

Food today:
Breakfast: cereal w/ skim milk
Lunch: 3/4 spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy's, Dr. Pepper. I should not have gotten that Dr. Pepper, I just wanted it and it did Pepper me right up! Skipped the fries to have the drink, which actually saved me about 5 points. I wanted a salad but its too hard to eat a salad in the car. My mom forgot to wear shoes (had slippers on) so we had to stay in the car to eat!
Dinner: Plan to have broccoli with cheese sauce and maybe something else. I am low on groceries around here so I may have to improvise.

Doing great on water as usual, its the one thing I consistently do.

Didn't get to Curves yesterday. Have I mentioned I hate the limited hours they have? I just ran out of time in the morning. I'll go tomorrow, I don't have to be at school so that frees up my morning. I am going to try very hard to get on the treadmill today at some point, even if only for 20 minutes.

This will probably be my last post. I did step on the scale and was down to my weight before the weekend gain. So my current loss is 25 pounds.

Current weight: 221
Starting weight: 246

Was going to take measurements tomorrow but TOM looms and I think I'll wait a month or so. I can tell I have lost some inches but don't think many. I don't want to get discouraged and quit Curves if I don't lose as much as I had hoped. What I don't know can't hurt me right?? Maybe if I'd do some cardio more than once a week I could lose some inches. :sad2: .

Goals for the upcoming weeks:
Hang in there at WDW. I am so so so so, SO glad I cancelled the DDP. Last December when we did that it was not pretty let me tell you. Give this girl a bunch of food, and she'll eat it. I have no willpower. Plan to walk a few mornings at OKW and SSR. And swim too, which I love to do. Also walking around the parks and water parks should keep me burning some calories. I also made myself a punchcard. 10 cocktails total so I can keep track. That is another thing I do too much of on vacation. Maybe I'll just have 5 cocktails twice for maximum affect!

When I return from WDW my goal is to immediately get back to Curving three times a week and doing cardio twice a week. This is the goal I set back the end of August when I joined Curves. I have done pretty well with Curving but very lousy with cardio. I also want to eat on track and lose whatever I am bound to gain while away for ten days. I just want to maintain my 25 pound loss over the next two months until xmas and then really hit it hard in January. Can you believe it? I actually find myself looking forward to January!

Tracey: Our weather is lovely right now but that little mini blizzard did prepare me for what I hate: winter!

Tracy: I wanted the Indians to win for you! Also, that way if we lost the Series, I could at least be happy for you. My crazy son is a Red Sox fan and says he may pull for them instead of the Rockies! This kid has never been to Boston in his life but loves their baseball team, go figure!

Caitsmama: I hope you are feeling better and glad my crazy long winded story of my parents gave you a chuckle!

Stacie: Your January trip will be here before you know it. Thats a great time to go to WDW too you lucky thing!

Amy: We have always eaten breakfast in the room, I can't eat out all three meals. I hate the time wasted standing in line to either order or get seated. I am actually looking forward to just hanging in our one bedroom and eating on the balcony looking at all the palm trees! Have a great trip to Germany, "see" you when I get back. Oh, and Daisy killed a snake in the yard on Saturday, yuk!

Amy
i guess your going pretty soon then if that was your last post!
Have a great trip & i like... no love the idea of 5 cocktails twice for maximum effect!! :)
se ya soon :)

Hey WISH sis,

Wanted to stop by and WISH you a wonderful, relaxing vacation.:cloud9: Don't forget to save one of those drinks for Epcot! ;) Have a great time and a safe trip!

Amy, I can't believe you are leaving for WDW!! Have a wonderful time!! Your eating plan looks really good. You'll be happy with your daily treats (cocktails!) and with all the walking around the park and swimming - who knows - maybe you won't gain! I'll "talk" to you when you get back!

I'll root for your Rockies since my padre's managed to take a "sure" play off spot lead into NOTHING.

Hope you're having a wonderful time in WDW, Amy! Did you have a drink in Epcot for me? I could use one or three or five right now! ;):lmao:

See ya real soon!

Thanks so much Tracy, Tracey and Anna (Anna I am soo glad you're back).

We had a wonderful trip! Old Key West is my new favorite resort, our one bedroom was huge and I got to wake up to palm trees every morning. We also stayed at SSR for three nights and loved that as always. Our studio was right on the golf course so that was nice too.

Food wise I did so so. Hey it was vacation is all I can say. The counter service got so old. They have taken off some of the things I used to get (no rotissiere chicken at Cosmic Rays for example). We ended up going to Sci Fi and Prime Time as well as Rainforest Cafe and Cape May for a character meal. So four full service meals in 11 days. I am burgered out I can tell you that much. I did well on water and drank a lot of ice tea in my refillable mug. And I had only 8 drinks. Had three Turtle Crawls at Old Key West and I think they have surpassed Lapu Lapu's as my favorite WDW cocktail. Drank three of those on Saturday while I read a trashy novel under a palm tree.:cloud9:

I gained five pounds but am okay with that. I have not worked out at Curves in almost three weeks. I didn't make it that last day before we left. I just ran out of time. And I didn't go yesterday since I am sick as is everyone else in the family. Ds was home yesterday, dd is home today and dh is at work infecting everyone but they have no sick time at his dumb company and he is out of vacation time. Several other people are sick there with the flu and I think he brought that home to all of us. So we are all down with that and I also got a bout of stomach flu in the night compliments of my mom who has it and whom I picked up at the airport. Lovely. Maybe I am now only up three pounds ;) !

I plan to Curves tomorrow as long as everyone goes to school and I feel better. I really need to hit this hard, the holidays are just around the corner, I don't have a cushion to pack on another ten pounds between now and January.

We did MNSSHP in the pouring rain on the 30th and brought back a ton of candy. I must have been on the same page as Anna, we ate our fill for a few days and then much of it got thrown out mysteriously ;) and the rest was left for the mousekeeper. A crammed full gallon size bag of Kissables. They were giving those out as you left, the full size bags not the snack size ones. And that happens to be my favorite candy. I saw some people with large shopping bags they brought and the cms filled them right up. Glad I didn't have a shopping bag on me although the mousekeeper who got the bulk of those maybe wishes I had one.

Its good to be home. My mom didn't do well on the trip to Chicago. No more trips for her. Very sad but it was too much for her, we all knew the day was coming. She looks awful and is sick and I can't get over to her today because of dd but the nurse is coming so thats good. Welcome home to me! It was a great ten days, can't believe its over.:sad1:

I forgot to put in a few things. One of the reasons I am discouraged about the eating the cs insted of our usual mix of cs and ts, is that we didn't end up saving the money I thought we would. Reason being ds13 is apparently in a huge growth spurt. I couldn't keep that kid filled up. He is 5'3" and about 85 pounds so rail thin but he eats like a horse. This was the first time ever we had to get four cs meals each meal as opposed to two. And dd11 wasn't thrilled with the kids offerings (cold grilled chicken at most places) so she had to have an adult meal too. Which was okay since the kids meals are for nine and under and she is clearly pass that mark. Often she and I shared, often she was starving too and wanted her own. Which left me with my own meal which of course I had to finish all of. The all you can eat buffets are great for ds12 I must say. The day we had that breakfast he actually was filled up for about four or five hours. Most days he need two full cs meals plus a few snacks at the park and several bowls of cereal to get his day going. If I hadn't gone so far over budget I might have felt better. But I think the cs food at MK and MGM frankly sucks, MK in particular. They need to borrow some ideas from Disneyland which has I think much better food. Epcot was great and AK had Pizzafari and Flame Tree which had better offerings. We did sample something from each booth at the F&W Festival which was fun. 31 samples total and right after were done (now these are small samples shared between four people but still I was even stuffed) ds asked "can we have dinner now?". :scared1: So I had to get him a meal since the 31 snacks didn't cut the mustard.

I also didn't cook in the condo as I thought I would. Don't know why I thought that would happen! We did have breakfast each day there so that was nice. But we had too much fun at the parks so I didn't feel like ever going back and making dinner. Which was fine, because again I was on vacation!

I just hope ds13 doens't have an eating disorder all the sudden. I guess this is what 13 year old boys who are growing do. Dh said he was the same way, but I am not kidding we had to stop and feed that kid every 2 hours or he was whining saying he was about to pass out. :sad2:

Moral of the story, I as usual had lofty goals I couldn't accomplish. I need to just get real and when on vacation figure I am going to eat way more than I should. I was happy with only 8 drinks in my 11 days. That was way better than usual. So that was something I guess!

Welcome home Amy :goodvibes
I hope your all feeling better now
Sorry your mom didnt her enjoy her trip.
Dont worry about not meeting your goal on the food front - if we didnt try to make goals we would never meet any!!!
Like you said you were on vacation & its not worth making yourself miserable or ruining quality family time to meet a goal!

Our first WDW trip all we ate was CS meals & we hated it!! I agree MK is aweful for CS! Now we reserve loads of TS in advance & the food is usualy the highlight of our hols!!

I need to know whats in those 2 cocktails - Turtle Crawls & Lapu Lapu's!!!

RUM and lots of it! The Lapu Lapu also has some pineapple juice in it (comes in a pineapple shell) and the Turtle Crawl had orange juice I think. Maybe if you do a search for them the recipe will come up. I am almost positive I have seen the Lapu Lapu one on here. Oh and the Turtle Crawl is made with Malibu, very tasty!

Welcome home Amy,

You were missed. I am so glad you had a good time at WDW. Sounds like you son is going to shoot up about 4 inches in the near future. Don't worry about not cooking. It is vacation.

I hope you all start to feel better soon. Doesn't it always seem like we get sick immediately after a vacation? I am sorry to hear about your mom. Taking an alzheimers patient out of their routine can be traumatic. I am glad the nurse is coming in.

Take care of yourself,
Beth

Welcome back! Don't worry about the 5 lbs, I can gain that in a weekend... :rolleyes1 It'll come off soon. I hear ya on the DS bottomless pit thing. My DS11 is the same as yours - you can see every bone in his body and he is always starving! I'll probably have to take out a home equity loan just to feed him when we go to WDW in Dec!

Once you get back to Curves, I bet you will realize how much you missed it and get right back into the swing of things. I hope everyone gets to feeling better soon! :wizard: :wizard:

Welcome back! Glad to hear you had a good trip! We love OKW too!!! SO relaxing! CS is ok for lunch or something, but we normally do TS every night! So many restarants and not enought time!!! O'hana is my Favorite!!!

Hope you're feeling better!!! :flower3:

I hope you feel better soon.:goodvibes

I'm so glad you're back! I missed you!

Have a great week!

Thank you so much everyone. I am sorry I haven't been around. We have all been sick, dd is home again today and dh is really not well. We obviously got the flu, this is beyond cold. I am hopeful we will have a nice weekend to get over this.

My mother is not doing well at all. She refuses to eat or get out of bed, hasn't showered in over two weeks. I think the trip just set her off. She clearly cannot go away anymore. In spite of dd being sick, she and I are going over today to get my mom, at first she refused but I got tough so she relented. After using the "f" word towards me and saying she is sick of me. I can relate. I told her if she doesn't shape up, she's going to Assisted Living sooner rather than later. Meanwhile stepdad has still not done his legal legwork with his ex wife to get him and my mom towards being able to receive their Medicaid benefits. My hands are tied on this one and I don't know what else to do. Blended families.

I will try to get caught up with you all today, if not tomorrow for sure.

My food has been spotty, I am stressed to the gills. I did manage to get to Curves once but cannot go today because of dd. I don't want to leave her home alone even if she was well. There has been a series of home invasions and robberies in this area, very scary. I have been drinking my water, I did step on the scales today and one of my five pounds is gone so thats good. I made some healthy meals this week but ended up buying some cookies that I ate way too many of. Those were put in dh's car last night to be taken to his office. Why do I buy stuff I know I cannot resist?

I am really thinking of going back to WW. I need the structure. I just cannot seem to get this done on my own or at WW. But for sure on my own, the accountablity WW gives me is not there so that makes matters worse.

Hopefully things will look up soon with my mom, that would surely help matters. Same old, same old! I do think when I really got tough with her today, that seemed to help. Stepdad called me from the cell and said she was griping but getting around. I had to laugh, when I was giving it to her, I sounded just like her when she used to yell at me when I was a teenager! I learned my technique from the best at least ;) ! I had it down pat, right down to the "listen her lady, you do what I say or else".

Hope everybody has a nice weekend, I promise to catch up on journals by tomorrow.

Hello Amy!

It sounds like you are doing really well! You should be proud of yourself. It's okay to be a little bad on vacation. You did a lot better than I would have. I'm sorry everyone in your house is sick right now... that's really tough! I hope your weekend it good and all goes well with your mother! Even though you are having a rough time of it right now your outlook on things seems to be very encouraging. Thanks for sharing. :flower3:

Sorry to hear your mom is having another down spell. But I guess it comes with the territory, right? Hang in there, hopefully she'll snap out of it soon! :wizard:

I think if you feel that WW will give you the accountability, then you should re-join. Or doesn't Curves have something that would track your weight? Maybe you could ask them, I swear I heard something about a Curves diet...

I'm off to the UK next week (yes, I am TOTALLY sick of travelling!) but I'll catch up with you when I get back! :goodvibes
