Amy's Journal: Comments Welcome!

Amy you are doing a great job with your points. I'm with you on needing to see some substantial scale movement DOWN :furious: , but we are going to stick with it together! :cheer2: Great job making the slim cheesecake! I'm impressed you had company at all on a week night.

Go to WI tomorrow and get it over with. Remember that you have just started over and you need that number to make you accountable. Even if it is not pretty, it WILL go down from there. :cheer2:

You have great goals. You can do it!!!

Great job with the SF cheesecake! I had the full sugar variety last night... I just can't resist that stuff! It's a sickness... :rolleyes1

How did the weigh-in go? Hopefully it wasn't as bad as you were thinking it would be. You are doing awesome keeping within your points and don't worry, the exercise will be much easier once your knee feels better! :wizard:

Hi Amy,

So sorry to hear of all the things that have been happening to you and the family. It will get better, just give it time. Keep your head up.

You have come so far and you should be so proud of everything that you have accomplished. You can do this, I know you can!!!!

You are doing a great job eating and working out despite the knee injury. Keep it up!!! Your goals are very realistic and you will succeed!!!!

Keep up the great work! Congrats on doing so well at the Mexican place :)

Today was very good. I weighed in, was down .6 Not the best loss in history but since I thought I was up, I took it gladly! I would really love to have a good solid 2-3 pound loss next week, we'll see if TOM makes that impossible. I'll worry about that when it happens!

Went to the mall with dh for lunch and birthday shopping (my son is 12 soon). Was all set to eat Edo but its gone. I loved that place, what a bummer, I could always count on getting a lowfat, legal meal there. So we did Chick Fil A instead. I hemmed and hawed while ordering. I don't eat there often and am not up on the points for their selections. Waffle fries and deep fried chicken cutlets on buttered buns did not look promising. But they had wraps so I got one of those. Also subbed fruit for the fries. Dinner was just me and dh since the kids had church. So went to Rumbi Grill. I am determined that we can eat out and I can do this! So I ordered the Jerk Caeser salad with the dressing on the side. They brought it out absolutely drenched in dressing. I seldom like to complain at a restaurant (worked at a restaurant in college, need I say more) but I didn't want to blow it so I sent it back. Dh was amazed he had no idea I was capable of doing that!

Food today:
Breakfast: Atkins Shake (3)
Lunch: wrap: 7.5, fruit (1) two of dh's waffle fries (1)
Snack: sf/ff pudding with cool whip (2)
Dinner: Salad (5.5) Dressing (1), chips and salsa (3) about a 1/2 cup of dh's rice (2)
Total for the day: 25

Exercise: 60 minute walk.

Really proud of myself that I resisted the waffle fries at Chick Fil A. They were so good, I could have easily eaten a whole order and almost got one because its Day One and I have 35 flex points just waiting to be eaten. But I need those for the weekend.

Thanks for reading!

Weigh to go Amy! :cheer2: That's great that you showed a loss on the scale yesterday! You are doing a great job so I know that the number on the scale will keep going down for you. You CAN do it! :cheer2:

I'm sorry I haven't been around as much lately. :( With all that's going on, some days I run out of time and other days I run out of energy. I'm going to try and get to journals more often next week.

I hope your Thursday is a good one! Thank you for your encouragement and support! :grouphug:

What a great day! Instead of being up the scale went down! :cheer2:  :cheer2: . You got a good walk in. :cheer2:  :cheer2: AND you did a fantastic job making healthy choices while eating out, not once but twice!!! :cheer2:  :cheer2: You should be very proud of yourself today.

Thanks Tracy and Anna! Thursday was okay. I did not do as well on food but thats what flex points are for. I also did exercise again, taking a 60 minute walk. I love this time of year, its so great for walking. Soon it will be cold and then I guess its treadmill time again! But for now the weather is too perfect to have an excuse not to walk.

Food:
Breakfast: Atkins (3)
Lunch: Lean Cuisine (6) Slim Choc. Cheesecake (4)
Dinner: Taco Salad (19) soft taco (4) Taco Bell gave us an extra soft taco, guess who ate it?
Total for the day: 36 Flex Points used: 10 (25 left)

I had not intended to eat out at last night. However I was organizing closets yesterday and suddenly realized I had no idea where our lanyards with all of our pins for WDW were. Normally the kids have thiers hanging in their rooms but I packed them for the cruise but then decided not to take them. Now our WDW is still over two months away but this begin to eat at me big time. We have invested tons of money on those lanyards and suddenly I wondered if they had somehow gotten lost or even thrown away in those frantic days before the cruise, when I was packing and unpacking like a maniac. It took me awhile but I finally found them. They had fallen behind a bunch of boxes in my closet. Then it was homework time. Time for the kids to know just "how dumb their mom is" time that is. Oh how I hate homework! Suddenly dh is home and there is no dinner. He ran to Taco Bell. Bad planning on my part! So I have my lanyards and 10 points fewer Flex Points. Oh well. Today is my day with my mom. I know she will want to eat out but I am really going to try to convince her to go to Subway. She sometimes likes to eat at this park, maybe we can have a picnic. Then ds is having a friend sleepover and its pizza. I have some challenges that I can easily overcome if I will just do it!
Its time to get the kids up and ready for school, I'll visit journals later!

Way to go Amy...resisting the Chick fires!!! Those are soooo good!! I am proud of you for not going there. You also did an awesome job eating out with the salad. I too am not one to complain or send anything back, but I think you did the right thing....Way to go!!!!

Congrats on the loss as well!!! It may not have been much, but it was a loss none the less!!!

Keep up the great work!

Good morning WISH sis! :goodvibes

Great job on getting your exercise in! :thumbsup2 Don't worry too much about the Taco Bell... That was yesterday and this is today... a new day with new opportunities! You CAN do it, Amy! :cheer2:

I understand about the lanyards..... Last year, I borrowed a new copy of the Unofficial Guide to WDW from the library. Somehow, it managed to fall into our bathtub that was full of water! :( So, I ended up paying over $21 for a book I couldn't read. :furious: (It was the hard cover edition.) Anyhow, I borrowed the 2007 version of the book from the library and it went missing this week. I frantically looked through the house for the book before I remembered I was reading it in the van and left it there. Maybe I should just skip reading next year's edition! :teeth:

I hope you have a good time with your mom today. Take good care of you! :grouphug:

Well done on WI & resisting the fries chk :)
Hope you overcome those challenges!
Have a great weekend
Tracey

Yay on the weigh-in! And good for you sending the salad with the dressing on it back. That saved you hundreds of calories! :thumbsup2

You are making some really good choices while eating out. Have you been doing better planning your menus? It really does help.

Great job getting all those workouts in, you have really turned things around. :cheer2:

Great job getting a walk in. :cool1: Glad you found the lanyards too. Good Luck with your challenges. Stay strong and you'll do fine. Remember our birthday challenge...

Thank you everyone! Amy, I have done better with menus when I have been eating at home, which this week hasn't been too often! I knew it would be a crazy week due to things going on with school and life in general. I am planning menus for this next week and since life should be quieter it should work. The good news is that I really held my own with the restaurants and managed to do 220 minutes of exercise and drank my water. So it has been a good week for the first time in a long time!

Food Friday:
Breakfast: Atkins Shake (3)
Lunch: Chicken Burrito w/ veg green chile (8), chips and salsa (4) (went to the Mexican/Italian place Mom loves and held my own. Told the waitress as soon as I sat down no roll for me. Didn't miss it a bit since I couldn't see it)
Dinner: Two pieces of pizza (10) chips (4) Coors Light (2), salad (0)
Resisted cookies I baked, those pillsbury slice and bake kind with the designs in the middle that I LOVE. Didn't have one and they got all eaten up by my kids, parents and my son's friend. Probably because I kept handing them out til they were gone!
Total for the day: 31, flex points used: 5 (20 left)
Walked: 60 minutes

Thanks for reading! Now I need to get through this weekend. Eating lunch out today for my sister's birthday. She picked Country Buffet since that is my parent's favorite place on the planet. I should have known I couldn't get through a weekend without going in there. And ds' birthday is next Saturday and guess where he picked to go?!

Hope the lunch goes well, we used to love Country Buffet, but the one near us closed some time ago. WAY too many choices at that place - good luck with it! :sunny:

Well, guess I should have said, I hope things WENT well, as I was looking at yesterday. Hope you're having a good weekend.

Actually Kate you were right, I was posting yesterday's food and exercise but also today's plan of going to Country Buffet. My journal gets confusing sometimes because I am often posting more than one day's events in one post!

Just did a 60 minute walk. Was going to take the day off from exercise but decided with this unexpected lunch I needed to add activity in. My goal/plan is to exercise all five days during the week and take the weekend off. I never seem to exercise on the weekend so I can't skip a day during the week and think I'll do it on the weekend because I usually don't. Today I surprised even myself!

Hi Amy  Thanks for stopping by to visit my journal. All the walking you are doing is wonderful - I've gotta get my butt moving too. I've been checking out your fast food/restaurant choices so I can get some ideas for when DH surprises me with "we aren't cooking tonight" or I forget to pack something for lunch at work. While I'm not on WW anymore, seeing the point values gives me an idea of what exactly I'm eating and I think it will help. And way to go not eating those pillsbury cookies - I'll confess that they often don't even make it to the oven in my house, especially the choc chip dough.

:cool1: :cool1: Great job getting a 60 minute walk in today! I'm like you and just don't seem to get exercise in on weekends, so I am super impressed with your walk today! :cool1: :cool1: Hope you had a nice time at your sister's B'day lunch! Have a good rest of the weekend. :sunny:

Hi Amy,

Thank you so much for your encouraging words in my journal. Hope you know how much I appreciate you WISH sis! :grouphug:

Way to go getting that walk in today! :Pinkbounc

I hope you have a great time at your sister's birthday celebration. :goodvibes

Have a wonderful Sunday! :sunny:

That is a good exercise plan. I love going to my weekend classes at the gym, but I haven't been lately. I need to get back into that! You are doing AWESOME! I am so glad you are back on track, staying within your points and making great choices when eating out. You are going to succeed! :cheer2:  :cool1:

Thanks so much everyone. This weekend was pretty good. Best weekend I have had in awhile, a few mishaps with food but nothing catastrophic.

Saturday: Did the Country Buffet thing. First of all can I just say that being with my mom and sister in the same room is not pleasant. I finally had to move sort of between them and referee. My sister is consistently angry at my mother for things that happened 30 years ago and it just never ends. My mom has not forgiven my sister for anything either. Boy what a fun lunch. My stepdad just tured his hearing aids off and ate happily in his deaf freedom. My husband came home and had three drinks and my daughter came home and took a nap. Can you say FAMILY STRESS! Okay, enough about that. The good news is that I held my own with food. I had a bbq chicken breast, removed the skin, a huge salad with dressing on the side, a small helping of rice/cheese/broccoli casserole and 8 bites of dessert. I skipped the rolls, mac and cheese, nachos and lots of other things that looked really good. It was difficult to not stress eat but I didn't. The walk beforehand helped because I didn't want to completely negate that time I spent working my butt off. Dinner was a chicken tenderloin, a Coors Light and one pretzel thing stuffed with nuclear cheese (it was about two bites but I am sure it was high in points).

Sunday: Had a Atkins shake early on then sat down at my computer to compose an email to one of my son's teachers. This woman is on my last nerve, she keeps griping about the cruise and how we took him out of school. He has made up the work weeks ago, has an A in her class and she will not drop it. "Oh it must be nice to have parents that let you miss school whenever", etc., etc. This in front of the whole class. Friday capped off with her not letting my son take home a project he made. They work in groups of three, they do three projects and each kid gets to take one home. This one was to be his. The two other boys decided Matt should not get it since he had been gone. Not during this project but thats what they decided. Since the teacher loves to bring this up they probably thought why not? The teacher sided with them, saying it wasn't fair and right but she was letting them keep it anyway and thats why "you shouldn't let your parents take you out of school". I was really steamed. :furious: . So I wrote her an email telling her to get over it, I was sorry she thought we didn't care about school, he has an A in her class and that she darn well better bring this up with me in the future and not him. I also reminded her this absence was excused and that we did everything they told us to do. This is an elective too not even an academic class and none of those teachers are griping so don't know why she is. Now after this of course I needed some pancakes and bacon so I ate two small pancakes with 2t.butter and syrup and three pieces of bacon. Oh well. Lunch was a half a chicken sandwich from Wendy's (fried, no mayo) a few fries and half of a coke. Dinner was some steak, a bit of chicken breast and a half cup of rice. Not a great day. I know I stayed within points over the weekend since I still had 20 flex points left. I am also earning activity points but I try not to take those. Working out to enable me to eat more is not a lesson I care to learn and rely on.

Today I am hoping to walk outside but its 40 degrees and sleeting so that may not happen. If not, I'll do WATP video. I don't want to lose my momentum with this exercise.

So thats the long, caught up saga of my weekend. If you stayed with this, thanks! Now I get to wait for the inevitable snotty email from this teacher. I may just refer her over to Dan and let him deal with it because he is better at this type of thing than I am. :p
