AmyM's Quest for a Better Bikini Body!

Hi Amy, sorry to hear about the scales, but try not to be disheartened, mine didnt move for about 3 weeks, just think about how healthy you are getting on the inside too, i definatly think pms has something to do with it too, as i never lose over that time!!
You must be so happy to have the kids back.... to start cleaning their own rooms lol :)
Dont worry about the over indulgence day, just get back on track, i over indulged got back on track & lost 6 lb's , so it can be done :)
have a good week :)

Ahhh Amy, Beagles are so consistently predictable! Benjamin is also banned from the kids rooms for the most part. If I had a dollar for every toy/stuffed animal he had defiled I'd be rich! I had to start that when the kids were babies, Benjamin would often figure our how to get their bottles out of the cribs and suck them dry! Sadly at almost 90 "human" years, he isn't much better! Oh and I am also laughing at our parallel dog lives since Ben chewed on Maria's favorite stuffed Snoopy grandma gave her awhile back. I fixed his face but now poor Snoopy looks like he had a stroke since his one side is not right! :rotfl2:

Sounds like you had a crummy night. I think going to the doctor for the customized hormone treatment might not be a bad idea. That incident last night totally sounds like a hormone thing. If things don't settle down soon in that area you might want to consider it. And 20 years is a long time to deal with that. We women have all the luck huh?

I still need to try that "pumpkin pie" thing...

That doctor sounds like a great idea. You've had all of the questions & symptoms and he may just be able to help you with it.

Those mashed potatoes sound even better coming in a chile. They must be really good.

We had a meeting out on the key today.........so..........we went to the St Armands Winery! Lets just say that this time I spent more than you did!

So glad your kids are back home. :love:

Love the sandwich story :rotfl2: . I don't usually find stuff in the kids rooms. Their backpacks - that's another story!

Sorry you had a rough night. 34 is definitely young for hormones to be shifting, but it could be related to having your tubes tied. Are you tracking all of these things (bloating, spotting, night sweats, etc.) in a journal so when you see your doctor you will have some hard data?

Hey girlie!! Sorry about the rough night...I've not been sleeping well either, but it's just a busy mind....
I think I would call that dr....or the one that did the procedure. There has got to be something they can do to "adjust" your hormones. :confused3

Hang in there girl...
marie

I don’t know what the heck is going on, but I have wanted to eat everything in sight the past couple days! Luckily I’ve been able to keep it under control, but the cravings are pretty bad. I hope it goes away soon, especially since we are going camping this weekend and it is pretty hard to behave while camping (but I did it once and I can do it again!). We had a huge storm last night and it was really loud and lasted a looooong time. All the parks/retention basins are filled with several feet of water. :boat: :umbrella: But rain is a good thing, we needed it! Yesterday I drank 96.9oz of water, 2 cups green tea and a DC:

6:10am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: FF Yogurt; Blueberries
11:30am: Turkey/Spinach/Cheddar on Wheat; Baby Carrots
2:30pm: LF String Cheese; Cantaloupe
4:30pm: Snap Peas-n-Hummus; 5 Teddy Grahams; 2 Pretzel Sticks (while packing lunches)
6:30pm: Chicken; Broccoli; Mashed Potatoes; FF/SF Pudding; 3 Crème Savers
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Chocolate Chip Cookies; Pumpkin; Fudge Bar; More Pudding; More Teddy Grahams; More Pretzels

Tracey, my scale didn't move for 3 MONTHS last year, so this is nothing new for me. Sometimes it just gets to me and sometimes it doesn't bother me. I'm crazy like that! :crazy:

Amy, how funny that your beagle also destroyed Snoopy! I managed to sew his nose back on and DD was happy. If the hot flash/night sweats become more frequent, I am definitely going to the Dr.

Jane, I am so jealous you were able to get to the winery! We are down to 3 bottles, and I think I am going to give my neighbor the Category 5 (she watches my kids in the mornings during the school year and will not accept money). You will love it, that is definitely my favorite!

Anna, I've found some pretty scary things in the backpacks as well. Especially DS, who likes to collect insects. :scared: I am going to start tracking all the fun stuff I've been going through to see if there is a connection. The Dr who did the surgery claims there is no way my hormones were affected, but I've researched on the internet and there are tons of women who have these problems after getting their tubes tied...

Marie, I am so sick of going to the Dr only to have them tell me there is nothing wrong, nothing they can do, have fun getting older, etc. So I am going to see if this is an occasional thing or if it is going to happen often. If it starts happening a lot, I am going to demand they do something to fix it!

Hi Amy, way to go resisting those cravings. Having them is one thing, giving in is another and you're not! Camping can be tough but if you did it once than you can totally do it again. Take plenty of your "good" food and I'll bet you'll do great. Keep up the good work!

I still had a difficult time staying on track yesterday. I didn’t feel like I had to eat everything in sight, but I struggled to stay focused. I put my stuff on FitDay before I left work and was at 1249 calories with my planned food (no extra snacks), so that helped put things in perspective! I would have been in better shape if I could have eaten my apple slices (90cal) instead of almonds (210cal) but what can you do??? :confused3 Hopefully tomorrow’s weigh-in will be kind and I will have gotten rid of the 5lbs I gained over the weekend… Funny how I can go on vacation and gain 6 lbs in 10 days of overindulgence, and come home and gain 5 lbs in 2 days of overindulgence… Doesn’t quite make sense, does it? :furious: I definitely did not want to go to the gym, but I made myself do it and as always I was glad I did. :cheer2: I should make my exercise goal tomorrow, which is great since I will be taking the weekend off from the gym. We will be hiking and walking around while camping, so I guess I can count that. Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, 18oz Diet Fuze and a DC:

6:10am: Egg Beaters w/Red Pepper; Fiber Cake
9:15am: FF Cottage Cheese; Cherries
11:30am: Spinach Salad w/Chicken, FF Feta, Bacon, Red Pepper, LF Dressing; Baby Carrots
2:30pm: 3 Egg Whites; 2 Apple Slices (before I realized they were bad); 1.2oz Almonds (emergency stash)
6:30pm: Wheat Spaghetti (1c cooked) w/Sauce (1/2c), 2tbsp Parmesan Cheese; SF/FF Pudding
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Treadmill (35min)
RESISTED: Mrs Mays Nut Clusters; Garlic Bread; Meatballs

Amy, we went camping A LOT of times before I actually didn't snack in the car, drink too much, etc. I was so proud of myself that I did it, and I am going to do it again this weekend! Last time I printed out each day on FitDay and checked everything off as I ate it. I'll have to do that again, since it worked (can't rely on my almost non-existent willpower!).

Hi Amy,

Good job going to the gym. Going when you don't want to is a double victory in my book since you are conquering mind and body! I think your idea of printing out your food before your camping trip is excellent. I have done well camping before since I can only eat what I bring and I usually have good intentions when I am packing up. Now my upcoming cruise will be a different story ;) . And all the hiking you'll be doing will really help. I am cracking up about 6 lbs. in 10 days vs. 5 lbs. in two days! That is one of those things that happens to all of us and it really stinks each time it does! Have a great day!

Well done for resisiting temptation & going to the gym :)
Your making me feel guilty cos i havnt been for 2 weeks!!!!
Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow.

Great job staying on track yesterday. :thumbsup2 . Bummer on the apple slices, but at least you had the almonds availabe. Fitday has been great for me. Last night I really wanted pizza (even printed out a coupon), but after I had entered what I had eaten so far for the day I knew there was no room for pizza :sad2: . What a great idea to print out each day and check it off!

I'm jealous of your camping trip. We had planned on doing several weekend trips this summer, but with DH's new job, it just didn't happen. Maybe we can squeeze one in this fall. Have a great time!!!

Weigh in this morning was 139. :cool1: All the damage from last weekend is gone, plus 1lb. That is definitely an incentive to keep behaving this weekend while we are out of town! I had a meeting that was supposed to last all day yesterday, but we got done early. It really messed up my snack routine. I ate the amount of food I was supposed to, just at weird times… I am still struggling with wanting to snack all the time, but I have resisted by drinking water and other non-caloric stuff and sucking on SF Crème Savers. Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, and a Minute Maid Light:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
9:15am: 3 small slices Cantaloupe, 3 small slices Honeydew, 3 chunks Pineapple, 3 Strawberry halves
10:45am: FF Cottage Cheese
11:30am: Turkey-n-Cheddar on Wheat; Baby Carrots
2:30pm: LF String Cheese; Cantaloupe
6:30pm: Pork Roast; Carrots; Potato (2 mini red); Onion; FF/SF Pudding; 5 SF Creme Savers
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Bagels @ meeting, Trail Mix (uh-oh, it’s looking good again!), Almonds, Fudge Bar

Amy, my body is so messed up when it comes to gaining/losing weight. Guess I got the raw end of that deal! :confused3 I gained 7lbs on my cruise and that was taking the stairs EVERY TIME (we only took the elevator once) and not having lunch! I'm sure you will have better success on your cruise.

Tracey, I am hooked on going to the gym and I feel really guilty when I don't go. Plus I was 85 minutes short of my exercise goal last month and I don't want a repeat performance!

Anna, we have property up north and have not been there since last fall! We have a trailer up there and everything, just no time to go. We are planning on going again the weekend of 8/11 (the weekend before the kids go back to school). We are taking the dog, so that ought to be interesting...

Amy - I know what you mean about the snacking!! It's hard, but you're doing great!!
Congrats on the 139!! VERY COOL!!!! Keep it up girly.....that bikini body is not far away....hell, i'd be in one now if i were 139!!!

KEEP IT UP!!!

marie

As always on the weekends, things did not go as planned. We got invited to a last minute BBQ, so I wasn't able to go to the gym. We are supposed to go up north today, but our property got hammered yesterday with a huge thunderstorm and we don't want to be mud-bogging all weekend. It looks clear for now, but there is a 50% chance of thunderstorms in the forecast. We still might go... But on the good side, I behaved (for the most part) at the BBQ! :cheer2: I didn't drink and I didn't munch too much on junk. :banana: :cool1: :thumbsup2 Yesterday I drank 120oz of water; 2 cups green tea, 18oz Diet Fuze and a DC:

6:15am: Egg Beaters w/Red Pepper; 1/2 Bran Muffin
8:45am: FF Yogurt; Banana
11:30am: Turkey-n-Cheddar on Wheat; Snap Peas-n-Hummus
2:30pm: 3 Egg Whites; Cantaloupe
7:00pm: Chips (1 handful); 1/2 Brat w/Bun; 2 bites Cheeseburger; 1 Oreo; 1 sliver Cheesecake (very small, 1" at the widest part) :cloud9:
WORKOUT: None :guilty:
RESISTED: Trail Mix; More Chips; More Cheesecake; More Oreos; Mrs Mays

Marie, I am very pleased that I behaved at the BBQ. It was easy not to drink since the kids were with us and you know DH has to have a couple beers with his buddies... I really wanted to snack before we left, but I made myself stay out of the kitchen and I'm glad I did!

Kate, thanks, hopefully we will be heading up north within the next couple hours.

Congratulations on the loss :)
Have a great weekend!!

You gotta love those BBQs! Dh and I had ribs yesterday - they're so good. I can't resist'em. Sorry to hear about all of the rain you've been having. I hope these storms quit soon. I bet you can't wait to go back to your vacation property - your dog will love it! Just keep him away from the coyotes - Can you smell sage from there? Thats what I miss about not living in the west. When we stayed in AZ and even in parts of California I loved the smell of sage at night.

:cheer2: Congrats on the weightloss!!! :cheer2:

We went up north!!! :cool1: :banana: :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :yay: The weather was gorgeous and it wasn't too muddy. We weren't going to go, but DH called a guy that lives up there and he gave us the scoop on the road conditions, etc. Needless to say we forgot a bunch of stuff since we were rushed with the last minute decision to go (like the kids' sleeping bags and pillows - we thought we left them up there :confused3 ) but it was fun. Buckley did fine. We got a stake and long leash for him. After a while we took him off it and he got that crazy look in his eyes and bolted away, looking like he was never going to return... I got the doggie treats out and he came back, but as we suspected, he will never be able to be off the leash. That is a bummer, I loved my Lab, who you could trust to stick around camp. Not that pesky little beagle! :dogdance: And the best part is that I BEHAVED with the food! :banana: :banana: :banana: I did eat more carbs than I should have and I did have 1 small handful of trail mix (stopped after that :teeth: ) but it wasn't the constant snacking, etc that usually gets me into trouble. We are going again Aug 11-13 (leaving Friday after the kids Meet the Teacher).

We did do a walkabout on Saturday and I will count 1/2 hour (it was longer, but lots of stopping to catch horny toads, look at grasshoppers, etc). I am going to the gym today after work so I will barely squeek by on my exercise challenge this month. But hey, I'll make my goal!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, thanks! I hope I am finally out of the 140's for good. I don't like it there!
Jane, we really need the rain. July and August is our monsoon season, it's when we get most of our rain for the year. I don't mind the storms, but some of them can get pretty nasty! I don't know if what I smell up north is sage or not - it just smells like camping... :blush: Yuck, you can have the ribs. Too messy and too much work! Give me a big steak anytime!
Hi Amy, just caught up with ya, way to go with that weigh in! Great job, you must feel so great. And also big congrats on behaving at the bbq and while camping :cool1: ! Even with some sudden changes of plans over your weekend, you hung in there and made it work. Thats what this is all about, making good health a priority for the long haul. Sad to say, Buckley will be like all beagles, a runaway at heart! I always tell Benjamin, why would he want to leave us, who else would put up with his naughty behavior? But he still bolts if given the opportunity. Beagles are a loveable but crazy breed! Keep it up you are doing so well!
Since you've abandoned the 140's maybe theirs hope for me yet!! Sounds like you had a great time camping. Way to go with the food choices. :thumbsup2
