Amusement rides - riding again without getting off

We did last visit, at MK one night. It was in the hour before closing and the park was pretty empty because it had rained earlier. DS and I stayed on the Peoplemover for 3 go-rounds, then went on Buzz Lightyear 3 or 4 times. The first Buzz ride we were together in one car, then we got off and reboarded in two separate cars. The CMs let us stay on after that; there was no one in line, only 2 or 3 other people doing the same. Meanwhile, DH got one ride on Space Mountain during that time.

Another day at Universal, DH and DS rode the Hulk and the Harry Potter Dragon Challenge multiple times. LOL, I don’t do roller coasters so I waited for them patiently (enjoying a butterbeer in Hogsmeade). :teeth:

I have done Chickapin in the morning 3 times in a row, but then that log has a very hard seat, also be able to ride snow white several times in the morning, which is worth because so much detail in the first 5 yards.

Got to stay on Everest for three rides without having to get off. This was about 10 years ago.

During the original E-ticket nights we rode Buzz 12 times without getting off. The CM's just smiled and waved us as we all kept riding by. We were not the only ones doing it.

one Great America story and one for Disneyland, actually DCA.

years ago when my nephew was small we had AP's there. I would frequently take him during the summer. when attendance was low on non-weekends days it wasn't unusual to be allowed additional rides. as was described, if no one was lined up for your row they generally didn't ask you to exit. one in particular that I recall was Whitewater Falls. I would ride once or twice, then he and his friends would stay on for a half an hour or more before they come out.

about a year ago I was on Guardian of the Galaxy and after our ride the cast member asked if anyone wanted to ride again. from what I gathered from the explanation they were short staffed at the position that assigns the seats so the next group wasn't ready to come through. a few people decided not to ride again. I have a set of ride photos, one with a full car, the other with most of the same faces and some empty seats.

I think on my first ride on GotG we had a problem and they sent the ride vehicle back to the loading area where a CM asked who still wanted to ride. Nobody got off.

I also remember when it was still Tower of Terror, the ride just stopped once when I was riding. We got to see the details. And it was really detailed for an area that would normally go by in a flash. I mean - it looked like it was a 70 year old hotel elevator shaft. And the best part was a prerecorded ride breakdown announcement done in an eerie monster movie style voice. When we got back down they did ask if we wanted to ride again. I think maybe 3 people got off, but they didn't load any new riders.

We were able to stay on Kraken and Mako at Sea World for multiple rides. They even let us change rows.

I was a bit surprised that the employee denied our request, but it was no big deal. This was November 2018. I don't remember if we re-rode Manta immediately or not. Whenever it was that we came back the line was once again short or non-existent. Mako had a line all day so no chance for a re-ride. I don't like Kraken.

That's another coaster that we had to exit and re-enter. The unloading and loading platforms are about 30 feet apart and they wouldn't let us stay in our seats for that short distance.

5 years ago when Barnstormer was new me and the kids rode it about 8 times without getting off. Was a normal night, Late when September was dead. Only bad thing was my DD woke up vomiting in the middle of the night. No wonder.

We got to ride all of the mountains in WDW on our first Gotcha Day. We had buttons on that I had made that said it was our Gotcha Day. When the CMs asked what it meant and I told them that we adopted the kids from Russia a year before, they all melted and first was SpM. They made us get off and go around the back way to ride again. On BTMRR, they put us in the front on our first ride, but relocated us to the back on our second trip. On SplM, we stayed in the log and they told the people in the back of it to get out and they let us ride again by ourselves. Yes, we bought that picture.

The CMs made our kids feel so special that day. They were 6 and 7 at that point. Absolutely magical.

We had one of our best roller coaster rides and one of our worst on Kraken. The best was when we were in the front row with hardly anyone else on the ride, and absolutely no screamers. It was just smooth and quiet and thrilling. The worst was once right when it started raining. We were all getting pelted in the face with water bullets and screaming. (Of course, we still talk and laugh about it, so after the fact it was actually a pretty good ride.)

At Six Flags Great Adventure they allow and encourage re-rides when there are no lines. I really like that they have the policy since it such a waste of time to have to exit and walk through the empty queue each time when so many seats are going out empty on each coaster train. Some coasters like Superman Ultimate Flight can take close to 10 minutes to walk from the station, through the path to the exit and have to walk through the empty queue again to get back to the station and that can really add up to a lot of time over a day.

I have found Cedar Fair parks to be much more strict about it. At Dorney Park there can be literally not a single person in the coaster station and you still aren't allowed to re-ride.

When I get to Great Adventure at opening I can often ride either Nitro or El Toro 4 or 5 times before a line develops, although occasionally I have to switch rows Even at other times during the day I sometimes linger on the unloading platform after the ride is over and see if there are any empty seats for the next ride and hop into one. The employees are fine with that too.

I don't recall the policy at Dorney or Cedar Point.

At Disney the only time I remember staying on a ride for a second time is the People Mover. Oh yeah, and a 1 1/3 circuit on the train.

When I was younger at our local amusement park, near closing one night my sister and I were riding in the back car of the coaster and almost nobody was coming into the line. We would just wave "Go! Go!" at the guy and he wouldn't stop it if nobody wanted to get on or off. We were the only ones on it for a few rides and did it like 10 times in a row or more. That was fun.

One time at MK very late at night, I rode The Little Mermaid ride with like nobody around and as I was getting on I saw a clam shell coming up with a very little girl and her parents. The kid was doing that big clap with her whole arms like kids do and was just loving it! The CM asked if they were going again at and they looked at their daughter and - reluctantly - said yes. That girl would never get off that thing if it were up to her! As far as I know they rode it 20 more times and may still even be on it to this day. ;) It was very sweet though.

I have gotten some great re-rides over the years. I believe most were Disneyland.
  • Space Mountain - Several years ago, we were in handicap car and there was no one waiting for it so instead of pulling back off the track, we went around for a second and third time around. By then, someone was finally waiting, so it was time to get off.
  • Buzz Lightyear - We board at the exit and I always ask if my Mom and I can ride separate since we do not play nice and they are always willing. We got back the one time and the cast member asked how we did and I said I did ok for me, and she asked if we would like to go again to improve on the score and sent us around again.
  • Toy Story Midway Mania - Again, from the handicap entrance, we came back and there was a group that would only take a couple rows so they asked if we wanted to go around again so we did.
  • Smugglers Run - We rode with a wonderful family with 2 kids with hearing aids (little girl was fully deaf and the little boy definitely had some hearing). The first time they were gunners and when they went off they asked the cast member about going again and the kids piloting and were told yes. So we just had to wait for the next pod to come back around. Kids did great piloting too. So not a complete re-ride where we did not have to get off, but we got to skip the entire line and ride again.
  • Test Track at Epcot - in the evening when Future World used to close at 7 PM, I asked if we could go again since no one was waiting and around we went again.
  • Safari at AK - We had ridden the safari and got off and went right back around in the line. We board at the handicap platform, so the cast member knew we had just gotten off and now were back and commented on it. We told her we just love seeing the animals and the safari. When we got back on our second ride, the cast member driver told us to hang tight by the row and if there was room, we could get back on (had to see how much of a line there was). Plenty of room so around we went for a third ride!
I may be forgetting some. Kind of feel like there was a time on the Racers at DCA, but not 100% sure.

DD and I rode Splash at least 3 times without getting off a few (5?) years ago during the MNSSHP parade. We could have stayed on even longer but decided to get off. Years ago we also rode Goofy's Barnstomer a few times without getting off, I think it was during a Pirate & Princess Party, back in 2007 or so.

I had a bad experience on my first and only Kraken ride about 2013. Really got shaken up and banged around. In general I avoid coasters with loops and inversions in my old age, but used to love them when I was younger. Can't do Kumba or Montu at Busch Gardens Tampa either anymore, but for some reason the flying coasters like Manta are still OK.
