I looked through some threads but didn't see much info on this (I apologize i this is a question that get asked alot). If we were to take the train into Orlando, how would we go about getting to WDW? Is there a train version of Magical Express (prob not but it never hurts to ask!)? How far is the train station from WDW?
Thanks!

Disney offers no options from the station....there are car rentals available along with Mears, Taxis, pre-booked car services....it's about a 45 minute trip and cabs run about 50+ dollars one way.

Good info. Out of curiouity about how much is the train from NC to FL and how long does it take? Thanks! :)

Hello fellow Tar Heel! :goodvibes

I just booked using a sale code and it was $180 total for 3 adults and 3 children from Raleigh to Orlando. The sale wasn't valid for the return trip, so that will be $200 with my AAA discount. Non-discounted is $50 each way for adults.

Note: if you plan to leave from Wilson or Selma, you are better off to drive to Raleigh as those two choices go to Raleigh where you switch trains with a layover. Or you can board in Rocky Mt or Fayetteville. Fayetteville to Orlando is the shortest at 11 hours, but you board in Fay at 1:30AM.

Would you mind sharing the code? For us to take the train from OH to Orlando it was more expensive then the 6 of us flying!

Great info - thanks! I had looked at boarding in Selma and saw that it went through Raleigh. I hadn't considered Fayetteville though. That would be the best option for us, except for that boarding time - YIKES!

That particular code ended 1/24. :sad1: I have been checking for a new one.

I will bump my amtrak report for you :thumbsup2
It has lots of tip and comments on the train to WDW. Most of us take it for the travel-not the price savings (since that is not usually the case):headache:

We took amtrak from Raleigh to Kissimmee in September. With AAA for our family 2 adults 4 children in coach was $350 round trip. Coach seats are huge. They recline and have a footrest. You can bring a cooler too. It took 13 hours from Raleigh but we slept most of the way. Especially on the way home. It was fantastic.

So when you say coach seats are huge - we would expect more room than on an airplane? I haven't been on a train since I was little. Do they still have a lounge car? And a dining car? And seats that face one another?

Coach class cars have 2 seats per side with aisle down the middle. Seats are like 2 lazy-boys side by side with no arm rests between. they recline quite far, have a leg and foot rest, very high backed and loads of room around, especially leg room...compared to the airlines it's like being at home.

Yes, there still is a lounge/club car, dining car and all the seats face the forward way of travel...no opposing seats....Total train is non smoking...even club car.

There's an overheaad shelf that runs the length of the car on both sides.....restrooms (2) at one end....tray pops down from seat back in front of your seat....overhead reading lamp....pullable curtains on window.....very cozy might I add. with the high backed seats, fairly private.....

I just booked myself round trip from Southern Pines to Orlando. It cut out a little bit of time going from SP instead of Raleigh. I am looking at 11 hours 26 mins.

I just found out that there are Lynx buses that run every 30 minutes which will take you to DTD (1 transfer) and that is only $2 to ride. ;) The issue would be carrying your luggage onto the bus and then getting a bus at DTD to your hotel but for me being one person alone I don't mind it as I was not liking the idea of paying more for the cab ride than the whole train ride down. :rotfl:

This will be my first time on a train so I am really excited. It is coming out cheaper than driving and then I am not on the road for 9 hours alone. :thumbsup2
