My family was going on a long weekend trip to WDW and my daughter and I decided to take the Amtrak train early Saturday morning from Delray Beach, FL to Orlando. Flying would have cost us $180 and my husband and teen boys were driving up that night after an important baseball game. SO...we booked a sleeper car w/bathroom which included meals and decided to have a great train trip.
Amtrak's AAA rate was only $115 for the two of us. We got a sleeper room with bathroom, arm chair, table and couch. It was very roomy. The room itself was a little worn but was clean. We were provided with pillows, bottled water, ice and our steward was very kind.
Included in the train fare was meals in the dining car. We had a hot breakfast although the food was not so great
The staff in the dining car was so kind and friendly. We also had lunch and that was MUCH better, their chicken pizza was really good and came with a salad.
There is also a snack car.
It was a great experience and I had arranged for Tiffany car service to pick us up at the train station and bring us to the Hard Rock hotel. The driver was really sweet, the car a bit worn but clean. They were prompt, friendly and I will definately use them again.
Any quesitons, let me know!
