Amtrak Fare Question

We are considering taking the train down for our Easter week trip. The trip would be from Trenton/Philadelphia. Have been watching the fare and it's been at $170 one way for a month.

Today, the fare is down to $130. I see that they are having a 20% off sale; however, this is for March 29th, which is supposed to be blacked out.

So basically, I just need to know if I should jump on that fare now, or hold off. I know a good airfare when i see one, but since this will be the first time traveling by train, I have no idea what to expect.

Hello my fellow South Jersey traveler! I would take it. We take the train from Philly to Orlando for Disney and I take it quite a lot to NC to see relatives. The longer you wait with Amtrak, the more expensive it usually gets. Good luck and happy traveling!

By the way, we prefer leaving from Philly. I haven't been to Trenton but haven't heard any positive things about the location. We take Rapid Rover into Philly which is a flat rate fee no matter how many in your party for the Amtrak 30th St Station drop offs as opposed to how they charge for the airport (by person). If you take Rapid Rover to 30th St Station, they also take you right to the station unlike they do with their airport pickups - with the airport pickups they may pick up several other people on the way. Just to let you know our routine.

Thanks for the help! Looks like we are going to leave from 30th street station. Evidently, we can't check bags if we leave from Trenton.

And the fare is still the same today so I'm going to go and buy the tickets.
