Amex Membership Rewards - HELP!!

Has anyone ever NOT been able to use a car rental certificate from American Express Membership Rewards because you used a different contract ID than theirs? To use theirs it will cost me $81.00 for the privilege to use $175 in certificates from Amex - that's insane. I have used them before with my DC discount but was wondering if anyone else had ran into a problem doing this??

Yes, Mary has posted that exact information on her website. Basically it's a bad deal since you can't use discounts with the reward certificates.

Oh....I never saw it there - thanks for the info. It is kind of a stinky deal though. Guess I'll use those points for something else!

Thanks! It's one of those things - sometimes they will let you use it and sometimes they won't but if people have been having issues I'm not going to try it and waste those points. We don't fly often enough to do the Southwest rewards but I think I'm going to go with Babies R Us - we're having a baby in November so that looks to be a pretty good deal - 10,000 points for a $100 gift card.
