This is probably a silly question - I know firsthand that VISA debit/prepaid cards are accepted all over DLR ... Are American Express prepaid gift cards accepted also? Basically what I'm asking is do DLR shops take AMEX :) My daughter has a $25 AMEX card that she wants to use at DLR.

I'm not sure about AMEX, but what I did is had my VISA gift cards turned into Disney gift cards at one of the shops. Makes it easier to get the last penny out of that gift cards, rather than charging a used card and my credit card.

Yes, American Express Gift Cards, as well as all American Express cards, are accepted at all Disney locations at the Disneyland Resort.

With non-Disney Gift Cards, it is important to remember that the transaction will be declined if the amount of the transaction exceeds the remaining balance on the card.

Disneyland accepts 6 different kinds of credit cards.

Thanks Albort.

And to elaborate on Glendalais post. If a mercant excepts a credit card they have to(MUST) except the gift card too. This is effectively law as it's part of merchant/card company agreements.

If you are told that they can't because of the balance, it is usually just an error by the employee who does not know how to run a split transaction.

Ha! This just reminded me of something. The corporation I last worked for used to give half of it's employees AMEX cards, and the other half Diners Club cards. It was like the lottery, and if you got the AMEX card, it was like you won ;) I got the Diners Club card :sad2: Trying to find places that took that card ... UGH!!! But nice to know I could have used it at DLR :rotfl:

Good point :thumbsup2 The main thing when using credit gift cards is to know your exact balance, so you can tell the merchant what to charge if it's more than the card amount, and you can pay the remainder some other way :)
