This is a review of the Astoria Inn & Suites on Ball (one block off Harbor).
This is not one of the Good Neighbor Motels, but very close to the parks & a great location for those planning on using the Mickey parking garage.
The room rate was $69.99/night (during spring break) + tax + in-room safe charge (even if you don't use it)....3 nights total cost $246.66. This was a room with 2 queen beds.
This is an older motel that is NOT being kept up. The outside door was beat up & the inside of it was not much better. It was in bad need of weather stripping as you could see daylight thru the bottom on most of the sides.
The carpet had stains all over it, & it wasn't until our 22 month old was crawling around on it for 20 minutes, that we realized it was FILTHY!!!!
The pool is outside & small but that's okay, it is a small motel.
The hot tub on the other hand looked disgusting!!!
There was a burnt outlet cover which made us nervous to plug anything in.
There was built up grime in the bathroom & who knows what was staining the walls.....
We were extremely disappointed in this motel (the reviews on TripAdvisor had all been very good). They had a very small offering for their Continental Breakfast (which was said to be from 6:30-9:30am). They never had the office open before 7am & sometimes they had people waiting after 7:30am for them to open.
I complained about the carpet condition & was told it was Disneyland's fault because of the fireworks. I told them we have stayed at different motels across from the park & have never had this problem before. She goes on to tell me it's because they have inside corridors.......NOT ALL OF THEM!!!! I told her we've stayed at ones that were outside doors & she went hmmm, wonder what they do? My thought on this.......THEY ACTUALLY CLEAN THEM!
Just thought I'd warn my fellow DIS'ers. I would stay in my car before staying there again. The family running the place only care about the money & nothing else. The whole place was dirty & all of our clothes had a musty smell to them. The twins got sick instantly in the room & we all were congested by the first morning. We'd leave in the morning & be gone until bedtime & would be breathing fine but the minute we got back in the room, it started again.
Please don't waste your money here.
