Americans and Canadians culture Q&A Thread.

In Buzz’s defense (shocking, I know), it isn’t a knock-off recipe (in the sense of a copycat recipe) as it comes from Dole (as the makers of Dole Whip). You can actually find it sold in many places outside of Disney (though, as you say, might lack the “Disney magic”). But, the ingredients and methods should be the same (though might not be the same if you made at home).
While that may be true, in that it is put out by Dole, it wouldn't be the first time that a company printed a recipe for people to recreate food items at home, only to find that some ingredients have been changed or modified to suit the home cooking situation (or possibly protect proprietary secrets). One that immediately comes to mind was that back in about 2014, Chipotle provided a recipe for Chipotle Ancho Chile Marinade for Chicken or Beef (along with other recipes for their salsas, etc.) I wish I had printed out or saved the actual link/article, as it is no longer available. (The recipe is still out there, but the dialogue parts are missing.)What I do remember is the article basically saying, "Hey, this is a close representation of what you will get at Chipotle, but we have modified ingredients, etc. as bit for home cooks." I have made it. While it is good, it is not Chipotle authentic.

Fair enough. And I’m sure that a home recipe is definitely not the same as one you get at Disney. But I’ve had in a couple of places and they seemed pretty much the same (I wasn’t having them as a taste test and they were months/years apart, so couldn’t swear to it).

Canadians, say something nice about the USA’s national mammal the American Bison. 🦬

Americans, say something nice about Canada’s national animal the North American Beaver. 🦫

I think the NA beaver is a beautiful animal and awesome symbol for Canada. I believe they describe Canada perfectly. Beavers are intelligent and caring creatures. They are a necessary part of the eco system and work hard to fully achieve their goals. They will protect what is theirs and defend their home. They are cute creatures but can also fight when they need to. Canada can be proud of their national animal.:-)🇨🇦:thumbsup2

Canadians, I just like to say, I love our friendly banter when it comes to our national teams sports rivalries. Hockey, baseball, soccer, basketball, Olympics, I always find the matches intense and memorable. I look forward to our countries upcoming games later this year (that USA loss in Canada last year still haunts me). :-) 🇺🇸🤝🇨🇦

Victoria, BC would like to respectfully disagree! :rotfl:

Okay, so all joking aside, the rain can get a bit gloomy here in the winter but compared to the rest of Canada our winters here are amazing!
Honestly, those grey skies would absolutely kill a prairie person. Cold as hell but with our daily dose of sunshine? We'll deal.

The Tunnels of Moose Jaw, Candle Lake, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, Remi Art Museum, Living Prairie Museum, Royal Canadian Mint, Royal Tyrell Museum (dinosaurs!!!)...
Yes!! Who needs the Grand Canyon when they have Drumheller right in their own back yard?

I have a great story involving my parents and the Canadian beaver, but it would get me major, major points lol

The GC or Vegas?
I'll be in Vegas later this month for a convention, and I've been there 6 times before but it really, really isn't my vibe.
I assume she is talking about Vegas as that is what the subject of her sentence was. I have been there a couple of times as well (Vegas) and could totally skip going there during the cross country road trip without feeling like we have missed anything at all.

I would love to hear about it one day.
I'm sure she can be convinced to share if you come along on the cross-Canada road trip.

If the USMNT and CanMNT meet in the Nations League final this summer and held in Canada, I may consider going if it’s in Toronto/Montreal. This is all dependent on the pandemic and finances of course but it would give me an excuse for a future vacation.
You’ve mentioned a version of this many times in the thread. :flower3: I’m sincerely curious what it means to you, in terms of travel. Is there some specific set of circumstances you’re waiting for? At this point many of us have gotten tired of having lives-on-hold and have found ways to re-emerge with some feeling of security.
1. If the great Canadian/American Disboarders road trip happens and you come along, we can add it to the list. It’s a fabulous national park to visit.

2. I definitely want to visit the heartland of Canada (just not during winter). I only mentioned those two places because your national team usually only plays in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver (and rarely in Edmonton).
3. I haven’t been to ND yet but that sounds delicious.
Canadians, how would you even define this? I can honestly say I don’t know. :confused3 We don't have a region specifically known as “The Heartland” and I could think of ways to make a case for many areas being worthy of the title. Thoughts?
The GC or Vegas?
Las Vegas. There may be reasons I’d go back again (other than work) but I’d never, ever actually be excited about being in Vegas. To me, the glitz is just a thin veneer over a lot of grubby and gross things.

And the Grand Canyon is a total non-starter. I’m not an outdoorsy person and it’s not at all on my destination list.
