Ok before I'm flamed for asking this I'm not trying to beat the system was just hoping somebody here could help if not then I'll call Disney and ask, I'm going to be in the states due to hubby being in the forces from start of next yr and often we get posted back at short notice, I want to book our holiday but don't know wether to book it now with no flights before we move or to book when over in the states my worry is....if I book in the states with the current address we will have there and then we move back to England before the holiday and I get discount because I'm in the states at time of booking will I then have to pay at check in as I will have a British address again! ??? Help as I'm stuck We hopefully will still be out their but in that job you never know :confused3

No you will not. We book the US site always coming from Europe.

Just a tip. Look at the US site if you have a real UK address. They often have different codes and rates which you can stack legally. They offer them on there site.

If I wasn't a Canadian and I booked this discount, I sure would be dreading from now until the time I checked in...not much fun planning a trip while trying to beat the system.......

That's for sure. As an American I know I don't qualify for this offer, so wouldn't even attempt to book it. Can't believe someone would, especially someone who claims to be honest most of the time.:confused3 Someone who tries to beat the system is not an honest person, plain and simple. lol

Come on Canadians you have universal health care and now you want Disney discounts too! (in case you don't know - I am totally joking on the health care).

Yes, but we Canadians can't get a Disney VISA so we don't qualify for the promotion that is now being offered. What goes around, comes around!

Did not know that people outside could not get a Disney Visa. Really, I was just kidding about the healthcare.

Can tell you how much I wanted one too! Not even for the discount but for the fact it's a Disney VISA!

Don't blame you. They are cute. The last time my card was expiring, I didn't realize they'd automatically send me another card with the same design on it. Mine was a special edition Bambi one that they don't have anymore, so thinking I couldn't get that design again, about a month before it expired I went online and ordered a Nemo design. Two days later I received a Bambi one exactly like my original. I called to see which one I should use and the CM told me I could activate and use both of them. They are the same account number, just have a different three number code on the back. I love both my Bambi and Nemo Visas.:rotfl: I too didn't realize Canadians could not get one.

Unfair to call people using a loophole dishonest.

I agree with a pp - I wouldn't do it because I'd be worried about getting turned down at checkin.

However, if you can't find a printed rule that prohibits a US resident from booking on the CA site, AND if it allows you to book with the US address, AND the person is willing to take the risk, then more power to them.

I knew you were kidding....you had to be because in Canada, we are covered by health care, but you might have to wait over six months to see a specialist or get an MRI...

I totally agree. Just think how much fun it would be to pull a Disney VISA out of your wallet...I think I would be spending a lot more just so I could see it more often!!!

Don`t want to get too political, but I just had to say this: I just found out I may have issues with my liver and needed a biopsy. Then found out that this would have costed me over $1,000 in the US, not to mention the doctor`s fees before I even got assessed. The system is by no means perfect, but I am very thankful that my financial situation won`t dictate whether or not I will be able to get the healthcare I need. BTW, I only waited 1 month for the appointment with the specialist and had the biopsy within 10 days of requesting one.

Well I'm confused. I just arrived back from a weekend in Montreal where I booked "free dining" at my hotel on the lobby computer. It defaulted to go to disneyworld.ca because I was in Canada I guess. I had no idea it was disneyworld.ca but figured they had just opened up free dining.

Now am I going to get asked for proof of residency? It doesn't say in my confirmation email that I have to be Canadian...

From what I can tell, if you call Disney before booking on the Canadian website and are American they tell you it's not okay for you to use the free dining offer. If you call Disney after booking they will tell you it's fine to keep the offer. I see nothing on my confirmation about this offer being for Canadians only. You might want to call and let them know what happened, it's up to you. I'm just going to show up and see what happens, but I would be very interested to know what they say if you do call.

Spent 2 hours on the phone today with WDW. Spoke to 3 supervisors and multiple Cast Members. You are breaking no rules or voiding any contract if you do this from outside the US. One person likened it to your local walmart selling a product for 10 bucks and youfinding it on walmarts website for 8 bucks. Another said it happens all the time and it is completely ok to do. There is no rule or anything else limiting it to Canadians. They. Also said you will not be looked down upon or should not feel as if you are cheating Disney. The offer is out there and people who find it are free to use it. It is no different than people who try to get pin codes by saving vacation offers or ordering planning cds. Hope this helps others.

I find this a bit odd. I guess Florida Resident rates are really for anyone that can find them too? :confused3

For those that are interested:

1. I booked through the Canadian site in August 2011 for a trip in August 2012 with free dining.

2. I then went to Disney on a previously-booked trip in September 2011.

3. While I was there, I went to both the check-in desk and the concierge desk to "verify" the details of my August 2012 trip. They asked me if there was a problem because it looked fine. I told them that I booked it on the Canadian site and was worried that I might be asked for a passport when I returned next year.

4. I was told by the CM that he has "never asked for a Canadian passport" and that the system showed I had a vacation booked with free dining. I was told the same thing at the concierge desk.

5. I wrote down their names and am looking forward to my August 2012 vacation with free dining.

Just sharing my story, no comments on morality please.

The difference is that one of them clearly states that it is available only to residents of florida. The other is just listed in a canadian website with no restrictions listed. They are 2 very different things.

Yeah it's going to be fine. I called 3 separate times and spoke to 3 separate cast members and then spoke to each of their supervisors to confirm. Along with your story and a few others, I think there is nothing to worry about.

I should also point out that twice it was told to me that "It is not a CANADIAN discount. It is an offer on the Canadian WDW website".

Now for rumor, it was also mentioned that this is likely going to be offered to the main Disney website eventually and if I was really paranoid I should just cancel this reservation at that time and rebook one but I really don't need to because this won't be a problem and my reservation looks just like any other.
