American School Holiday Times!

Hey everyone,

I am going to the CBR from the 9th june till the 24th june. I am unfamiliar with the American School holidays and was just wondering how busy Disney would be during this time, is there anything going on during this time in the states? i.e is anyone off from school? I went in july/august last year and it was packed.

Most schools in my area get out anywhere from June 3 through June 30 so I would expect that a lot of kiddies might be at Disney.

My DD's last day was May 26th. I know most kids get out right around memorial day...a few days before or after. So most are out in the first week of June. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news....

we have a Seasonal Pass and the blackout date begins June 11 and we are trying to decide if it is worth it to try to fit in one more day of MK before then. But if its crowded and hot (which of course it will be) we are just not sure if it is worth it!

My guess is most kids are out of school by then for summer vacation. Our kids have been out of school since May 17th, I believe all Florida schools are out by the end of May.

The Fairport school district in Rochester, NY doesn't get out until June 24th.

IN the US, schools get out between Memorial day and mid June and most of them don't go back in session unitl mid August to Labor Day

Our school district's last day of school is June 9. We'll be checking into AKL on the 12th. From looking at the boards, it's going to be busy.

I'm in New York and most of our public schools don't get out until the third week in June.

Here in Chattanooga,TN, we got out May 23. Next year, it will be the 31st of May.

Everyone in my state (Georgia) that I am aware of got out this past week. A lot of people here head to WDW after school is out so I would expect it to be busy in June.

It seems that most schools in the south get out by the last week of May. I live and teach in Mississippi and most of our schools were out last week. I also lived throughout the country as a child and other places up north or out west seem to go until mid-June. So in other words, the park is bound to be busy from the end of May to after Labor Day (the first Monday in Sept.)

I grew up in the South and we used to get out after the 1st week of June but it has now been pushed up a week or two til the end of May. A lot of parents have complained about their kids going back so early in August so that is expected to push the school year back here soon. However you are right, WDW will be busy until around the beginning of Sept.

Most of the North East is in school till mid- late June.

In our house, school ends the 16th and the 21st.

I can tell you for a fact that WDW is virtually sold out during the second half of June. It is going to be crowded.

Most of the Midwest is already out of school. I imagine the first few days of your trip will be the least crowded and it will get worse as you get further into June. Expect HUGE crowds your last few days.

The northeast generally gets out the third week of June. THe south, one month earlier (to avoid air conditioning costs) and from what I read, the midwest is somewhere in between. I have no idea about the west coast, I rarely see postings from Californians, Washingtonians, Arizonians (??) or the like. Maybe a lot of them go to Disneyland...

Come on west coast lets hear you!!!!!

I wanted to add that North Carolina will be changing the school year next year. They changed the rules so instead of starting August 5th like past years we'll be starting August 25th and going unti mid June of next year. (I still never got why they started school so early here, August is much hotter than june, plus hurricanes are more likely in August than June)

We start back August 5th this year. Some of the other school districts around here will start around Aug 12th. The kids got out May 19 and will go to May 20th next year. I would much rather go until mid-June and be out until Labor day. I live in Northeast MS and it seems like every year we start back a couple of days earlier.

In this part of PA, the school year ends June 10th and starts next year on August 25th, right in the middle of my husband's work trip at Disney.
