Bust out the popcorn...It's MOVIE NIGHT on Idol!! I loves me some music from the movies, and I'm an even bigger fan of Quentin Tarantino. Should be quite a night seeing how he influenced the performers.
Right off the bat, let me just say THANK YOU to Idol for putting the kibash on all the talkity-talk-talk. Last week's run-over was inexcusable. Now, on with the show!!!
Allison Iraheta: "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing". This song has been done to friggin' death. Was there NO other choice for her?? Gah! What is she wearing? Looks like pajama pants. This is a decent performance from her, but the song evokes a boring feel overall. I expect more from her, but she did the best with what she had.
Anoop Desai: "Everything I Do" Once again a song that has been done more than Debbie in Dallas. Who's making these song choices?? My Tivo just did some wacky skip thing....This may be one of my favorite performances from Anoop though. I liked the changes he made to it and it felt "from the heart". Goosebumps Anoop!
Adam Lambert: "Born To Be Wild"...well we all know that! This could be very very corny. Well, it's current sounding, but the refrain seems a bit SILLY. There...I said it. But who doesn't just love WATCHING him hahahahahahahahahaaaaa!!! Shriek baby, shriek!
Matt Giraud: "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman". AGAIN an over done song. Adam managed to choose a song outside the box, why can't the rest of them? Lose the pork pie hat man (in the tape footage). He looks constipated. I would have liked the song better with just him and the piano (maybe with one backup singer sprawled on the piano and could sing to her?). This isn't my favorite performance of his (his voice cracked several times and he completely lost tune). Overall a bit of a wreck.
Danny Gokey: "Endless Love" ZZZzzzzzzzzzZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz....wha? Huh? Oh is Danny going to sing this snoozer now? Okay...Underwhelming, Like he's singing at a wedding. So Disappointing that he didn't do more with it.
Kris Allen: "Falling Slowly". Well at least it's something I am unfamiliar with so it'll be "new". It started a bit weak, but it got cooking once his voice woke up. Everything about Kris is current, relevant...NOW. Does that make sense?
Lil Rounds: "The Rose". Oh good, another song that has been been sung to death. Maybe her gospel thing will help. Oooh, there were some funky notes in there. Overall, she gave it a nice new flavor and she looks great! Not awful.
A night that left me wondering what the deal is. The show ran over again. Thank God I had the DVR recording FRINGE. Why can't they get the timing right on this show?
Top o' the heap:
Adam...uh doy!
Anoop
Kris
Middle o' the road:
Danny
Allison
Bottom o' the barrrel
Matt
Lil
Going home based on tonight? Matt. Though it is just as likely that Anoop or Lil might get the boot due to lack of popularity.
