Wow, Lil is wearing the outer covering of Spaceship Earth!

I'm here late but that's so funny that's the exact same thing I said to my sister!

I know it was pretty much Scott's turn to go, but I definitely got a little teary eyed watching the last few minutes of the show. I wish he could have at least had his last song on the piano. Even though most didn't like him, I'll definitely miss him.

I realize Scott would not have made it all the way but what a nice, hardworking, determined young man. He had such personality and worked so hard. He deserved to be there. He was not American Idol material but he had talent. I'm glad he will get to tour. This is the first Idol I felt so bad to see leave.

That could be interesting, however it is a lesser known film. I am probably one of the few that enjoyed it.

I  Hunchback. I used to practice this song over and over when I was a teenager. Why I don't know other than to improve my range for choir. :confused3

Not sure if this was posted but I found it on Matt's Q&A page, makes me love him more!!

Q: What would people be surprised to learn about you?
A: I'm a huge Disney fan. The movies, the music, everything.

Aw, I felt bad for Scott! They string him along when I think they knew exactly what they would do all along. He's such a nice guy. The whole save thing is stupid, but I did think it was his time to go. I hope Lil goes next. I'm still hoping for an Adam/Allison finale, but can't see Allison making it that far (although she should).

Kellie annoys me. She looked good, but the whole "What's a ballsy?" bimbo act is old. Being completely clueless isn't cute, sorry. And she shrieked and whined the whole time. I couldn't stand her voice then and still can't now. She's horrible.

I'm not into Flo Rida but he's a nice guy, from what I've seen of him on talk shows. His music's good to work out to

I havr the same eye disease as scott does just not as bad yet. I am litterally here with tears in my eyes. I knew he wouldn't win it all but he really boosted and inspired me and my family. Just seeing him out there every week humbled me in a way I can't put into words. I will truly miss him and how he touched my life.

:sad2:
:scared1:Kewl story!!! Wow!!!

You and I would get along well.. lots of people consider me a bit...."eccentric" too....

Too bad I hadn't connected with you on the boards yet, because I was in Atlanta last August (went from there to the Carolinas) and it would have been fun to get together. :thumbsup2

First, Flo Rida is UGLY as hell. Seriously, did he come from the zoo?? Second, whether he is singing about strippers or receiving oral sex (take your pick -- both fit) neither is appropriate for a family show!
Not sure what they were thinking!
Actually, I thought he had a great looking body *duck* but the face - not so much.

To me, that performance epitomizes how totally sexualized and unromantic our culture has become. I mean, we started the show with Frankie Avalon singing "Venus" - which is a very sweet love song. In 1959, you have a guy singing about his longing for a girl who wants "his kisses and his arms" and promises he'll be true to her as long as they both live. Okay, we know that didn't always happen but now, we have every rapper and rocker singing about booty, oral sex, casual sex, etc.

The original lyrics to the song "Right Round" just went "Right round, round, round" but that was 1985 - still a comparatively innocent age compared to now, where it's been changed to "when you go down". :sad2: I sure miss those romantic songs of my teenage years.
That was kind of harsh...they dangled the hope and then yanked it away. RUDE! Don't think Scott needed to be saved, though.

The part that was awkward and sad for me was the exchange:
Simon: This is tough. There's some talented people over there. (Implying they might need to use it on someone else.)
Scott: I can please you in other weeks, Simon!

I think they were toying with him - feigning that they might use the save and it was heartbreaking to see him pleading to stay. I knew he couldn't win, but he was a decent, classy guy with a great sense of humor. He left with dignity and I hope he has a career in music after this.

For once the Ford commercial was fun and I loved when Scott and Adam were mocking Simon. "That was excruciating" "Rubbish"

I can't believe I downloaded Adam's Mad World from itunes because I just don't do that kind of thing - somebody please send me for professional help if I start turning into a Claymate type fan *shudder*. I just can't get the song out of my head, so am now looping it with Ring of Fire, which I still have mad, crazy love for.

That was very painful- even my 9 year old said "what the heck is this, this is horrible" Grandma walked out of the room, she can't stand that kind of "music" and it was totally not appropriate for a family type show!

:confused3 I kind of liked it- I wouldn't want to run into Flo Rider in a dark alley- he is one BIG guy- but I thought it was nice remix of one of my favorite songs.

Scott had that one bad note that I think did him in. I'm just glad my boyfriend is still in-Danny aka Robert Downey Jr.

See it isn't really even a remix. It's a not quite sample of the chorus only. Due to the word changes, it is basically similar phrasing but NOT the same exact song so it isn't even really a "sample".

The "verses" are not the same as the 80s dance song. Just the chorus is similar.

But I kind of like when they do that in a remix- at least they put some effort into the song. Plus I really don't remember much of the rest of that song anyway Was there more than You Spin Me Right Round Baby Right Round Like a record baby........... They played that song every single night at this one club I used to go to.

I thought though that he could snap Ryan in half with 2 fingers when they were standing side by side.

I don't know how old Flo rida is, but it is possible he wasn't alive back in 1985.

Here's the Dead or Alive lyrics:

Yeah I, I got to know your name
Well and I, could trace your private number baby
All I know is that to me
You look like you're lots of fun
Open up your lovin' arms
I want some

Well I...I set my sights on you
(and no one else will do)
And I, I've got to have my way now, baby
(and no one else will do)
And I, I've got to have my way now, baby
All I know is that to me
You look like you're havin' fun
Open up your lovin' arms
Watch out, here I come

*You spin me right round, baby
right round like a record, baby
Right round round round
You spin me right round, baby
Right round like a record, baby
Right round round round

I, I got be your friend now, baby
And I would like to move in
Just a little bit closer
(little bit closer)

**All I know is that to me
You look like you're lots of fun
Open up your lovin' arms
Watch out, here I come

[*Repeat]

I want your love
I want your love
[**Repeat]

Of course these isn't much substance in the lyrics department but there is something.

This thread moves so fast I didn't want your post to go unacknowledged. I can only imagine how much of an inspiration Scott must have been for you. I cried as well.

It's still there! I listen to a ton of different bands who have really great music, none of which is about sex. And look at "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz (or really anything by him), We Belong Together by Gavin DeGraw (another one of my favorites), Dancing by Elisa... there's still a ton of really pretty, romantic music out there. It's just from the more singer/songwriter artists rather than the rappers, and a lot of it's not on Top 40.

ETA: Here are videos of the songs mentioned, although I'm sure you've heard Jason Mraz's... love that song!

I think Idol has given him the chance to be an inspiration for many people for many years to come.

Sounds like my 15 y/o dd last night! She looked at me, and said..'Do you have any idea what he's singing about??' I told her that yes, I knew exactly what he was singing about. Her response? 'Great, now I'm embarrassed. Can't believe he's singing that song, with those lyrics on this show. It's just not appropriate Mom.' Good to know she thinks it was inappropriate. But, I'm more than a bit mourneful that she understands what the lyrics mean....my baby isn't a baby anymore.

Yep, I've hosted umpteen DIS meets here in Atlanta, we could've had a ball!

I agree with the sexism in hip hop, it's blatant and stupid. Just like in real life a little SUBTLETY is much more attractive.... remember "I Think We're Alone Now" ???

I basically avoid the entire genre, try doing that being Black in Atlanta with a 16yo living in your home!! :lmao: I used to traffic a hip hop station... if you could've seen me Googling these guys before meeting them so I could know who they were! :confused3 Then I had to sit there listening to them call me "SHAWTY" for a half hour... :scared: UGH...

I'm blessed that my son doesn't listen to that crap, but he has to be versed in it to appear "hip"... he is another me, I grew up listening to the Carpenters trying NOT to let anyone in my age group know! :lmao:

I loved Mad World and plan to nauseate my kid with repeated renditions of it almost as much as I did with Tears of a Clown!!! :dance3:

Poor Scott, the judges were really tore if they should keep him or not. Simon said there was one that was worthy of saving I wonder who it was??
