I am anxious to hear Allison as well, I think her voice will be well suited for "Rat Pack" ...maybe 'cause they all smoked 20 packs a day?

It's funny because it's true.

And I do think Adam will do well in mainstream music. Have you listened to Top 40 radio lately? It's largely theatrical... from Lady Gaga to The Killers to Britney Spears to Coldplay. Every single person I know in real life who actually watches AI loves Adam and would listen to his post-Idol music, and I'm talking about a WIDE range of people. And if he puts out crap? Oh well Like I said, I already have my favorite bands and performers and it wouldn't kill me if someone from a reality show didn't put out good music. It's just a show. That being said, I do think Adam will do well. He has a HUGE fan base, natural talent, and the knowledge of what's big in music right now.

I think Adam will do well mainstream. I don't think a person is stupid for liking him or not liking him. I have friends who like him and friends who don't. It's personal preference.

I think he sings well and is entertaining. I would buy his songs if they are similar to his rendition of Mad World. If the songs he puts out aren't my style, I won't buy them. The good thing about Adam is that he can perform a variety of songs and can sing them all very well.

I love the songs Chris Daughtry has put out and have downloaded many of them. I only like two of Carrie's songs, although I think she has a wonderful voice.

I am looking forward to hearing the contestants perform the next batch of songs, especially Allison and Adam.

That is so interesting Nancy because almost every single person I know thinks he is leaps and bounds better than everyone else there (except my son who prefers Kris). I know lots of people who really like Kris too. I don't know anyone who thinks Danny should win.

Maybe it is just our Canadian taste.

Funny thing is that my husband actually said he would pay to go see Adam in concert. He has never, ever spoken that way about any other idol contestant.

When I look at the forums I frequent, the number of threads in the Adam sections are so huge compared to the other idols. For example, in television without pity, Adam has over 4,000 replies. Kris has slightly over 900 and Danny slightly over 800. And those are good replies. I checked out the forums from www.americanidol.com and the percentages are very similar to what I witnessed.

Also as someone else posted, you've got to look at the itunes download to see that he will do well mainstream. 7 out of the top ten downloads are Adam's.

And they are very good at it too. This isn't the first season I've sat watching wondering why they are trying so hard to convince the audience of someone's talent. And sat amazed that it was working on enough people to keep someone of limited talent in much longer than they should have been.

In a news report last week Simon said he wants the final two to be Adam and Danny. To make sure that happens I'll bet he praises everything Danny and Adam do and starts finding things to criticize with Kris and Alison. It's one reason the viewers got frustrated with the judging - it's like we're watching a different performance from the one they are criticizing. Another point that's been made by viewers, is that the judges listen to the dress rehearsals and seem to be commenting on those rather than the actual performance the TV viewers see. When you watch them during the TV performance, they are often talking, goofing off, painting mustaches on each other, daydreaming and not really listening. And for that they take on huge salary!

I've also been listening to the Five For Fighting song (link a few pages ago) that I am just in love with. Never heard the song before hearing Adam sing it and now I can't even imagine it isn't his song to begin with. I get chills every time I listen to it.

Some one asked (might have been on another thread) what kind of music a fan of Adam can expect to hear from him and I think it is a little bit of everything. When you are a person that loves music, I mean really loves it, it doesn't matter what kind of music it is. It can be rock/heavy metal one minute and the next it can be a golden oldie from the 50/60's. I think Adam really loves music.....period. It doesn't matter what type it is. It doesn't have to be a dance song, a punk song, a ballad or a show tune. It just has to be a song that moves you and speaks to you.

It's funny you say that, because there are many songs I hear on the radio that I imagine Adam singing - and singing much better. When he sings it's like he goes into another world and you can actually see it when the performance finishes. He kind of gives his head a shake and snaps back to reality. For him to be able to move an audience the way he does in 90 - 120seconds (the average length of the performance), is actually phenomenal. Not many performers can do that in real life. And I'm sure everyone has noticed that the AI performers are now trying to imitate him by completely changing up the arrangements and going into falsetto - something Matt fails miserably at week to week.
Adam makes it look effortless, but seeing the others fail at trying to do what he does should make it clear that he has spent years working extremely hard to perfect his craft. I have such admiration for musicians who do that because it's maddening to see people with minimal talent make it big in the business because of clever packaging - ie. many of the Disney singers.

I have friends in all sorts of professions besides music, that I've gotten to watch the show because of Adam. They all agree that he is in a completely different league than the other singers - though that doesn't mean they don't enjoy listening to Alison and Kris as well. The thing I've noticed about Danny fans is that they don't like the other singers whereas the Adam fans like Alison and Kris but despise Danny. Their greatest wish is to see him gone from the show. Personally, I think his singing voice is okay but his stage presence and dancing attempts are clumsy, lack star power, and he dresses like he's just rolled off the couch after weekend watching sports.

Rock Week?? Can't wait to see what Adam will do then. I'll have to set my VCR because the orchestra's going on tour next week & I'm going to miss the show the first week of May. I'm very unhappy about it

I think Adam has plenty of talent, but if what he is doing on Idol is the type of music he will put out then nope, I don't like it. I did not like Daughtry when he was on Idol but I like his CD a lot. I listen to a local station here that is geared younger. They play the bands you mentioned but I don't see them as being the same type as Adam. Lady Gaga makes me gag (and my kids too). Seriously Britney Spears? I hope you are not comparing her singing to Adams...he is much better, unless you are comparing to her stage show which I've been told is pretty theatrical.

I know I don't like to watch a bunch of frenetic running around while I'm watching someone sing. Dancing is ok but it better be darn good dancing to make me want to watch it.

All that said, I really want top 3 to be Kris, Danny and Adam and the final between Kris and Adam. At the start of the season I would have had Danny in the final but Kris has slowly worked his way to my top spot.

Rock week should be interesting maybe. Depends on what type of rock they do. I obviously am not a huge rock fan but like some of it. Wasn't into the hair bands, metal or grunge.

well, since Adam could pull of "Welcome to the Jungle" ALMOST as well as Axle Rose....c'mon, that's sure seems like it would be considered as one of his song choices for rock week. I hope Allison is still there, I know a lot of you like Matt, but he needs to go next week to keep Allison alive for her forte'. Can't you just hear her belting out Janis Joplin, Joan Jett, Heart, Grace Slick, Garbage? man, there are so many she could choose from. Danny? Meh, do not see him and rock together at all, but I'm all for being pleasantly surprised.
Looking forward to Tuesday, but unfortunately will miss rock week...getting DD from college and another family medical trip to FL, thank heavens it can be recorded!

I CAN'T STAND Britney Spears. I think she has a horrendous voice and is only famous because she fit the package the public was looking for all those years ago, and her drama's kept her in the spotlight. That being said, the girl puts on a good show. She's all about theatrics and entertaining, and that's what I was comparing Adam too. Same with Lady Gaga. I hated her at first... I thought she was another one who was all about fame but had no talent. Same wit Katy Perry. After listening to their music though, I do really like them both and think they not only have good voices and musicianship, but they perform and entertain more than a lot of other singers. It's all about putting on a show... same with The Killers and even Coldplay, two of my absolute favorite bands. I love watching a good show and seeing something different, rather than someone just standing there and singing. Not that I don't love that, too... I'm a huge fan of the whole folksy, singer-songwriter vibe which is why I really like Kris.

I hate half the music my family and friends listen to, and vice-versa. Everyone has their own tastes that's fine! There's obviously nothing wrong with not liking Adam or the music you think he'll put out But that doesn't mean he won't do well or that he's completely out-of-the-loop when it comes to mainstream music. I'm not into most mainstream music - Britney, Rihanna, Beyonce, Fall Out Boy, Jesse McCartney, Jaime Fox (his music's on our Top 40 station all the time... I mean, seriouslY?!!!!!!!)... so I almost wish Adam WOULDN'T go in that direction since I'm a big fan and think he's too talented for it. But based on his talent, appeal, and ITunes sales, I have a feeling he'll be one of the most successful idols in a long, long time.

He will KILL at Rock week though, so I will be consoled. I'm hoping for some Queen or maybe some Heart. Let's stack Adam up against the best, I say. He should do just fine.

Maybe it's where people are from. Because all my co-workers and friends that watch Idol are huge Adam fans (minus my DH who fears another David Cook-like obsession with Adam.) Musical tastes vary from different regions, let alone different people. So I can see any of the contestants being huge in one area of the country, but not another. For example, I don't know anyone who likes Carrie Underwood or thought she should have won. But obviously there were many who did.
