American Idol Top 4 Idol Chatter and Idle Chatter

Did anyone see this article where Clay weighs in on the season? VERY surprised by his stance. But I agree with pretty much everything he said. :thumbsup2

Wow. I'm surprised he'd decide who he did and didn't like without actually hearing them sing. :confused3

BUT, I did love this picture that was linked next to the article. :goodvibes

What a sweet picture Blu!!! Thanks for posting it.

Twins, I did see that! I don't know why he thinks he's able to judge based on one song? I'm sure he wouldn't want to be judged that way even though I do agree with his assessment.

A viola player?? I like him just a little bit more now. I'm a MAJOR Adam fan, now I have reason to like Kris a bit. (String teacher here:rotfl:)

Cool. What is your main instrument?

Clay sounds a little bitter and part of the story may be becuase of this:

A short blurb from the Chicago Sun-Times, dated May 12, 2009:

'Idol' doesn't want Clay anywhere near Lambert

Though it looks likely Adam Lambert will be the next ''American Idol'' winner [], ex-''Idol'' runner-up Clay Aiken already is reaching out to Lambert -- looking to team up with the edgy singer for a possible duets album and concert tour [].
That was just one reason for the backstage tension on the ''Idol'' set in Hollywood last week, when Aiken showed up unannounced but expecting the VIP treatment. ''I don't know why Clay felt that way,'' said a show staffer who has been on board since the reality talent show was launched. ''Everyone knows -- and certainly Clay knows -- he's persona non grata around here.''

The reason for the ''Idol'' folks' lack of affection for Aiken is related to his being the first show contestant to dump 19 Entertainment, the management company that handles all the recording deals, merchandising, tours, sponsorship, film deal and virtually all aspects of all things ''American Idol''-related.
''And not only did he drop 19 Entertainment, but everyone knows he also talked Kelly Clarkson into dropping us, too,'' said the staff member.
''To say the least, it was tense around here when Clay showed up -- and boy, did they hustle him off the premises as fast as possible. If he didn't get the hint after that -- he never will.''

Though Clay makes some good points I'd say the "innocence" has left the show a long time ago because the show has stopped being about the contestants. Nowadays it's all about product placements, guest performances by has-beens who need the limelight or current artists who have something to promote, and TV show elements (sob story, underdog stories, et cetera) taking precedence over the talent time aspect of the show.
Think about it: an episode of the show has bloated from one hour to two hours (performance) or from half an hour to one hour or one hour half (results) - but the contestants are still made to sing only about 90 seconds of a song.

Did anyone see the Top 10 on Larry King tonight? The show will continue on Monday with questions from viewers. Danny takes the credit for Kris's win because his fans voted for Kris over Adam.

http://larrykinglive.blogs.cnn.com/...m-idol-contestant-danny-gokey/#comment-163913

Danny also seems to be the least popular of the group - just from little comments and digs that get made - like he was the most competitive. Danny also said that Adam was hurt by the overpraising by the judges and it back lashed against him. Really Danny??? Pot meet Kettle! :sad2: :scared:

Kris continues to be adorable and praises Adam every chance he can get. He also doesn't feel the need to explain that when he hugs Adam it's a "loving in a manly way". Cute video of a Kradam huggle after the show.

Other Adam news:

Idol singer Adam Lambert may be new Queen frontman
Article from: Agence France-Presse From correspondents in Los Angeles

AMERICAN Idol runner-up Adam Lambert's performance with rock band Queen on the finale of the TV singing contest this week has the band thinking about a new front man.
"Amongst all that furor, there wasn't really a quiet moment to talk," Queen guitarist Brian May told Rolling Stone.

"But (drummer Roger Taylor) and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with (Lambert) at some point. It's not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn't that easy. But I'd certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there," May told the magazine in an e-mail exchange.

Queen, one of the biggest rock bands of the 1970s and '80s, has not had a permanent frontman since the death of Freddie Mercury in 1991.

The English band recently ended a four-year partnership with Paul Rodgers, the former lead singer in the bands Free and Bad Company.

Lambert, 27, dubbed "Glambert" by fans, lost out in the American Idol final to Kris Allen.

But his vocal skills and flair for the dramatic made him a good fit for performances with both Queen and glam rockers KISS in the show's finale.

May seemed comfortable about the role of Idol as a launch pad for a career in the rock world.

"If you have enough talent and enough will to succeed, you will get there by whatever route presents itself," he told Rolling Stone.

"Once you have scaled the castle walls, with the sword in your hand, it matters little how you got there. I've not always been positive about shows like this but there is no doubt that it offers a door to some real genuine talent along the way.

Cool. What is your main instrument?

Violin but I also perform on some viola too. I LOVE the viola! Are you a string person/teacher? I teach 4/5 and a day of lessons at the high school. I'm in 5 buildings-one each day!

I saw that on AOL this morning! I LOVED Clay season 2. I've seen him live 4 times and still think he should have won, but I've liked him less and less as the years have gone by. For someone who claims to be a "real person" and an honest, gracious guy, he's always the first one to be bitter and witchy-with-a-B  Not only am I not into the Lite FM music he continuously puts out, but he just keeps saying stupid things! Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I only ever hear negative opinions from him in the media, about how everyone's fake and less talented than he is. And charging people $30 to read his blog?! Really?! Kelly and Carrie are FAR more successful than he is, and they've both stayed down-to-earth and gracious, for the most part. Clay's head has only inflated more and more, and he's probably now afraid that he'll be forgotten about over a better-looking and more dynamic openly gay idol

Dear fans - sorry guys..Billy Joel couldn't make it to the show so my duet was cut: ( Thanks for watching anyway!10:43 PM May 20th from txt

Hmmm. Billy Joel and Elton John performed on Tuesday in Indianapolis and Thursday in Detroit. What would the odds have been for him to fly to California for a 30 second duet with Scott?

I still think Idol should have done better for him.

Saw this slogan, "Kradam, making all your friendships look like crap." Too funny and this clip shows how much those two guys love each other. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vdrl66RI0bc&feature=player_embedded

I was a huge Clay fan, but he needs to come down off his high horse. How can you make statements like he did without even watching the show? He saw one small part of Adam's worst (my opinion) performance and never even saw Kris sing..how can he say which one should have won? And charging to read a log? :lmao:

Can someone explain how that would work from Idol's point of view? I mean, can he do that as the runner up, but couldn't do it as the winner because of a contract with Idol? That's what someone told me last night. They said that Adam is lucky he didn't win-that he couldn't be the front man for Queen (at least not for a long while) because if he won, he'd have a long term contract with Idol. Is that at all true?

Ugh, he sounds like a bitter idiot. Didn't even really watch the show but has the nerve to post an opinion. :surfweb:

The nerve to post an opinion? Wow.

He DOES have a point about the pimping and what better person to weigh in on THAT than someone who doesn't watch the show. His point is valid. You don't even have to watch the show week after week to see the clear bias for a certain contestant.

And I think he also has a point that the earlier seasons were about finding raw talent and later seasons were finding people with failed record deals looking for another big break. I liked this show better when it was a bunch of amateurs competing. Now you still have those along with people who are professionals (like Adam -- he made his living in a well known musical. That is my idea of pro) competing. It changes the whole feel of the show. This isn't a dig on Adam -- I had the same complaints about Joanna, Carly, MJ, etc. I wish the show would go back to the way it used to be. It is no longer an even playing field.

And putting the season into perspective -- RoF was typical Adam. Alternating pained and 'come-hither' expressions (ya know, the ones that made some of you swoon and some of us shudder  ), choreographed moves, and his now 'signature' scream/shriek/wail (take your pick!). I DO think you can extrapolate from that one performance and pretty much know what Adam was all about.

My only gripe with Clay in that he should have at least heard Kris sing something. But with the rest I think he is dead on.

I think your gripe is exactly what Robin is calling nerve.

If he had actually watched the show a few times then he could post whatever he wants. But I totally agree that he's got a lot of nerve to post that someone who he has never heard should have won. That would be my gripe as well. He has every right to comment on Adam's one performance. I wonder what he would have said about Tracks of My Tears, Mad World, One or several others. I wouldn't call ROF typical Adam but simply a part of what he can do.

American Idol's recording company has first rights to sign any of the contestants, whether they win or not. They are signing Adam. As part of the idol contract, however, they can let him tour with whoever they want. Doing a few songs with Queen would not violate the contract. Jordin Sparks is touring with Jonas Brothers. As long as 19E is getting their money, they may let him do stuff with lots of other artists. However, it will be done with their permission and under their control.

Adam has said he would like to make his own music first. But he didn't say he would be against working with Queen. The two aren't mutually exclusive. One would just be part of the other.

Ugh, he sounds like a bitter idiot. Didn't even really watch the show but has the nerve to post an opinion. :surfweb:

It was very clear that Clay is suffering from some kind of personal problems. Nobody with a happy heart and loving support would say such mean things. Same with the any person who vehemently supports him.

I'm sure the business must be tough and whatever happened to him I wish it hadn't.. it wasn't good for his psyche.

I don't think Idol runs in a perfect manner and some of Clay's disagreements with the system are definitely valid to him and to others but they were put forth in a way that made him sound really, well, bad.

Ring of Fire was my LEAST favorite song by Adam and was hardly the performance to make a decision on the man. You have your opinion based on lots of his performances, so your decision is at least valid based on what you like or dislike. Clay sounds like he's got a serious gripe and frankly, it makes him sound bitter and nasty. And, btw, Clay made ME shudder, unlike most of the people on this board. To each his own.:rolleyes1

oh,... what the redhead said... :thumbsup2

Wow that really upsets me what Clay had to say. Clay was always my favorite contestant of all seasons (who became second to Adam after this season). He was always such a sweet person and I don't understand why he is so bitter all of a sudden.

I'm also surprised about Danny. I didn't think he would be considered the least favorite of the group. I just never saw him come across as a jerk.

I also have to say that what I like about Kris, is that he's very humble. In his audition, he even said that he thought there were people better than him. And one of the first things he said after they announced him the winner was that he didn't deserve it and it should have been Adam's. I thought that was sweet that he also appreciates how good his competitor was. But I also felt kind of bad that he didn't even feel like he deserved it.
