American Idol Top 4 Idol Chatter and Idle Chatter

It's funny you say that. My husband and son dislike Adam. But the one show where he cleaned himself up, slicked back his hair, and dressed "normal" was the only show where my husband said that he thought Adam had the best performance that night. But my husband is conservative and doesn't like nail polish on guys and eyeliner.

Seriously, I have got to be the most conservative person that anybody knows (and I'm from NJ no less). And I am in LOVE with Adam.

And actually, both my mother and I like him better with the guyliner! We just love the way he looks now.

Did we discuss the fact that Scott McIntyre was the only contestant that didn't get a duet?

There is no doubt in my mind his own prejudices influenced him during each of Adam's performances. Plus my husband is a country fan and was horrified after he heard Adam's Ring of Fire. :lmao:

That tells me that every other show he was judging Adam by his appearance and attire. Adam could have changed to be someone who could have won the show, but I'm glad he didn't.

The year Daughtry was on, Simon tried to get him to change too, but like Adam, he didn't do it. Daughtry being true to himself ended up working out very well for him.

The only week I truly enjoyed his performance was Motown.

No, I don't believe we did, so I'll start it. I think it is sad that some of the lower ranking contestants had more screen time than some higher ones. Did Scott even have a "solo" in on of the craptastic group numbers?

This is true. While Adam is a technically great singer, I just didn't "feel" anything like I did with David Cook and Kris this year. David Cook is far from the perfect technical singer but he has a lot of emotions that I can feel when he sings, which makes him appeal to me.

I'm sure Adam fans felt something when he sang but I didn't.

This is EXACTLY my point. Adam is impressive. So is Mariah. But they both leave me cold. As I said earlier in the season it is like watching a talented child in a pageant. They hit all the right notes and make all the right moves but there is just something missing. It just doesn't feel like it is from the heart. It feels fake.

I wish I could say it was all about the songs, but it isn't. Adam picked some songs I love and some I can't stand but none -- NONE -- sounded better than the original to me.

Kris, on the other hand, had several that I would rather hear than the original.

Nearly every song DC did was better than the original -- Hello, Billie Jean, Little Sparrow, Happy Together. All were brilliant. It comes down to the performance and the TONE of his voice. I love it. Just LOVE it.

But the funniest part of the night was this quote from my grandma: "Adam is a filet mignon steak, but Kris is just a hamburger." I swear I almost peed my pants. :rotfl2:
Once again, your Grandma ROCKS!!! :lmao:

AND....

I LOVE STEAK!

I think he might have sung three words in the first rock star group number.

An "on the scene" blogger said that Billy Joel had agreed to duet with Scott but had to cancel at the last minute.

Too bad they couldn't use dress rehearsal footage or something! What a disappointment that must have been for Scott.

We hadn't heard any Billy Joel rumblings had we? You'd think they would have had something else just in case. Nick Norman, Bikini Girl and Tatiana got more airtime.

I never really thought Scott was a good singer but it was rather unfair of Idol.

Totally agree on both of those. If they are better than the original then it really impresses me.

I thought Kris outdid himself on Ain't No Sunshine. Made me love him!

I love David Cook. I love everything about him and I still listen to the studio versions of his songs now. Always Be My Baby was incredible!!! Syesha was probably a better technical singer than David but I just felt bored listening to her.

You don't have to be able to reach high octaves to be a great singer. It's a total package.

Oh, that would have been awesome for Scott. It is too bad they couldn't have found some one else.

If he was really supposed to have performed, I guess he must of canceled before the day of the show.

The only thing I think I remember hearing about Billy Joel and idol was him saying he liked Adam, but maybe I'm getting him confused with someone else.

I don't think he was as good as he could be, but he was such a sweet person and had such a great outlook on life. He is the type of person who you want to see do good at what ever he wants to try.

:lm.

Also for the record, my entire class of 7th graders is just SO excited for Kris! ;)

So were my daughters little 8 and 9 year old friends-they all said they were voting over and over for Kris..... my daughter on the other hand cried her eyes out when Adam lost, he was her favorite!

I agree about the airtime offense. I was also thinking, "They went long on time but let Rod Stewart sing 17 verses of Maggie???" Why couldn't Scott have sung with him?

My DD is 6 and she was disappointed that Adam didn't win too. I had to tell her it was okay and that we'll get to hear/see him again soon. But, then again when I asked her who she thought should win, she told me why don't they just picked the cutest one. When I asked her who that was she said Adam, of course! That's my girl! :cutie:

 Aww, Scott is so cute and sweet. I just want to hug him. Maybe he'll get another opportunity to sing with him. I did look and Billie Joel was in like Indiana the night before and then someplace else (not CA) last night, so maybe he just wasn't able to get there in time? It's not like they can delay a live show like that.

Congrats to Kris for winning AI - he did very well and I definately saw improvement with him through out the season. He really did sneak up on everyone and surprised alot of people by making it to the final two ( I was convinced it was going to be a Danny & Adam final two) and then on to win Idol. He is a cutie with a great voice and I wish him well with his career.

That said I absolutely ADORE Adam!!!!:cloud9: At the beginning of the season I favored Danny but I told my hubby that there is something about that Adam - I think he will go far in this competition. Then shortly after that I was saying Danny Who?, Adam won me over each week with his performances - he is incredible!!! I must admit I am a bit relieved that he didn't win and have to sing that horrible song. I loved seeing him perform with KISS and at then end with Kris with Queen - INCREDIBLE!!! He is definately going to be the one to watch as far as careers go - Love him or hate him people will notice and remember him!!! GO ADAM!!!:)
