American Idol Top 4 Idol Chatter and Idle Chatter

I honestly don't think that those type of haters would watch a show like Idol or vote...of course they might vote because "so and so" told them to.

My cousin, who I will admit has a brain the size of a pea, always goes on and on saying "I will never vote for a _ _ _" (you can imagine the slang)

So there are closed mind people out there that do watch the show.

I don't care if Adam is gay or not, it never fractured into my thoughts. I just love him because of his talent!!!
Btw I am an almost 40 year old woman so Adam even appeals to us older woman. I do not like Kris's style, while I can say he is good, it is not something I would go out and buy.

Congratulations to all of you Kris supporters. If it couldn't have been Adam, I am glad that Kris won. I really enjoyed the show for the most part. I liked Kris' duet with Keith Urban and was pleasantly suprised with Matt's little snippet with Santana. He sounded great and better than he did all season. And Scot has to be the most exuberant dancer ever. As far as Adam - I think he commanded the stage everytime he was on last night. From his duet with Kiss to the times he introduced the guest acts. He was just better than the others. And please indulge me as a fan of Adam, but I really wanted him to be the only idol performing with Queen. His voice was the only one big enough, Kris was OK but everytime he had his parts I wanted him to be quiet and let Adam sing.

How discouraging are those reports out of AT&T saying that 38% of all the votes came from Arkansas alone. That makes me feel ridiculous for even trying to vote at all. I could never keep up with that pace even if I wanted to. I posted after the hometown visits that some places seem to be willing to get behind a local candidate just because he is local no matter how he sings (not saying that Kris can't sing). Kris obviously benefited from that.

I didn't want to get in to this during the season but I do think it is worth mentioning that around here there was a big push from some religious circles to not vote for Adam because of his lifestyle. I know that I live in the Bible belt and should expect it, but I was actually contacted by someone who wanted to make sure that I was aware of those 'pictures'. Didn't affect my vote and I'm pretty sure that Adam would not care but I think it explains a portion of Kris's support.

He appeals to my 53 year old mother AND 78 year old grandmother. So he's gotta be good. I'm actually surprised that my grandmother likes him. I didn't think she'd like his style since I didn't think the older folk would be into someone so unique, especially with the makeup and everything. But my grandmother loves him, and always tells me what a handsome young man he is. :)

Those people who power voted for him better power purchase for him too. He is such a sweet guy that it will be really infuriating if he ends up being forever known as the kid who shouldn't have won American Idol. Such a ton of pressure on him and it looked like he was feeling it immediately.

After reading some other comments and stuff, I do have to agree with you. The power texting is what really helped him out. I know there were some that did that for Adam (read something from one person that said they power texted over 10,000 votes for Adam :worship:), but then there are people like me who don't even know how to send a single text much less power text that many. Maybe Adam just had so many more voters that are the same? :confused3

Does anyone know if AT&T provided phones, etc for a voting at a large crowd for Adam like they did Kris? I mean, if they were providing phones, power and showing people how to do the texting for one contestant, but not the other it wouldn't seem very fair. :confused3

If you keep in mind that glam rock was HOT, HOT, HOT in the mid-1970's, it's not surprising at all. :goodvibes

Your Granny ROCKS! :woohoo:

I wouldn't imagine that AT&T provided phones. It would be more likely that local businesses provided the AT&T phones.

I just saw a video online of Simon before the show and he seemed to change his tune and predicted Kris would pull off an upset. I wouldn't have thought that by his reaction last night.

Has anyone been able to find the David Cook video on itunes? I want to buy it but it doesn't seem to be there.

I've been looking too and haven't found it. I hope they don't wait too long to get it up there and people forget.

I kind of wished I could have seen the judges faces when they announced that Kris won -- especially Paula's. I know they never show that, but last night I would have liked to have seen it.

I hope the judges learn from this season and they tone down the pimping considerably. No more of this "see you in the finals!", etc.

I really think what caused Adam to lose was all the hype surrounding him. The way he was packaged/pimped on the show from the beginning, the way Paula and to a lesser extent Kara shamelessly fawned over him, Katy Perry's cape, the EW cover, etc. None of that is Adam's fault. But that kind of thing only served to mobilize Kris's voters and possibly cause some of Adam's to became complacent because they thought he had it in the bag (after all we have been TOLD as much for weeks). Clearly Adam and Kris had huge fan bases or they would not have made it that far. But it is all about getting them to vote.

Cannot wait for Idolatry. Sorry to the Danny fans, but I about fell off my chair laughing when I saw Kristin's reaction to him leaving. I want to see his interview and all the stuff about the finale.

I can see Queen wanting a new frontman -- but Kiss HAS one. Why would they want another singer? They have been a band for decades I just can't see them adding an extra singer in to the mix. That makes no sense. Queen would make a certain degree of sense especially since Rodgers has left.

Like someone else said though, Adam probably wants to make his OWN music rather than join an existing band that has been around longer than he has. I want to see what HE can do, not how well he can fill Mercury's shoes.

I had to smile reading all the posts about the Clay/Ruben year. I also really wanted Clay to win and think he was robbed. Time will tell if that year or this one will go down as the biggest upset. But I think now it is understood that runners up can do just as well if not better than the winners. So I think that is why this time it doesn't seem like as big of an outrage.

Adam will do fine. Title or not.

I do think all the hype hurt him on the show, but will help him in the long run. So what if he didn't win American Idol? Not only is he not stuck with that song (which they both release on iTunes, but only the winner releases as an actual single), but he's already been on his own cover of Entertainment Weekly, he has producers fawning over him, and a ton of celebrity and fan support. It may have backlashed in certain circles, but when it comes to the big picture Adam actually has more opportunities ahead of him.

If it is true that a third of all the votes came from Arkansas, then the winner is more a representative of power voting from a small percentage of AI fans than the person tha majority of people wanted to win.

So the voting is flawed if AI wants the most popular winner, but not if their intent is to just crank up the number of votes.

It doesn't matter. Kris seems like a nice, talented guy. I'm sure he will go far in his career and his fans will continue to support him.

Adam, well he is already a star in my book. I downloaded his performance of Mad World, which is the only time I have ever downloaded anything from AI. So, my money will go to Adam if he puts out anything else like that and I would love to see him in concert. There are only a few other AI contestants that I would pay to see - David Cook, Chris Daughtry, and Carrie. There are a few other good ones, but I would not be interested in seeing them in concert.

i wanted adam 2 win too! i am cogswels daughter, and i cryed my eyes out and teared apart my house because adam didnt win!

I was disappointed too, but don't worry too much. Adam may not have walked away with the title, but he did walk away with a huge fan base and the opportunity to become an international star.

I guess that is possible. I was just going by what Tatania's post said. :confused3

One problem with polls is that they record one vote per person and that is not how American Idol voting goes. Can it skew the results? Absolutely! As the poster mentioned above AT & T said on the news that 34 million votes came from Arkansas. If there were 100 million votes overall, it doesn't take a math genius to figure out what happened. The Arkansas Democrat Gazette ran an article talking about the final performance which was broadcast in a stadium at the University of Central Arkansas.

“In Conway after Tuesday's performances, fans at the Estes Stadium watch party took out wireless phones and started making calls and firing off text messages - some voting on their own devices and others on phones borrowed from AT&T, which supplied about 50 display units and representatives to teach multiple "power texting."
AT&T also made about 30 phones available in a "texting zone" at a watch party at the Peabody Little Rock hotel, where Megan Lynch and friend Rainey Gibson, both 22, watched Allen perform his first song of the night, Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine."

A table of outlets and power cords was available at Estes Stadium for those whose batteries ran out of juice. One of them was UCA student Bill Coghlan, who admitted he didn't actually watch the show, but was voting because "My friend told me to."

Wow there is a big difference in the style. I will admit I can understand some people would like Kris's verison better but in my opinion Adam's verison is head and shoulders better then Kris's :)

Comes down to style and personal taste.

That is exactly how I feel.
