This season should give the producers some food for thought regarding next season: LIMIT the number of votes per phone like DWTS does. I think we'll get a much more accurate result then.

I'm so happy for Kris I heard his song on the radio this morning. IT sounds 100% better. Kris was so gracious when he won. he kept telling Adam he should have. I cired when his wife came up on stage that was sweet I wonder why they never talked to his wife, just his parents. Kris nailed the duet with Keith Urban, I wonder if he will do some country??

I was reading Kris bio he's the music minster at his church at Conway!! I never knew that

I'm just really surprised that Adam fans as a whole didn't go as crazy as Kris's fans voting on Tuesday night.

They would never limit the number of votes. Instead of saying they got 100 million votes, they would only have maybe like a million. That doesn't sound as impressive so they'd never do it. Also it would end up being more about who has more phone lines in the house since you could call from multiple phones.

And if they started a "vote for who you want voted off," Adam would have been one of the first ones gone.

No matter what, it seems like the voting will never really be fair.

It's really pretty pathetic that Kris won. He seems like a nice guy. But the best singer? PLEASE. The voting pretty much sums up the American psyche.

It really doesn't matter for Adam, like it didn't matter for Jennifer Hudson or Chris Daughtry.

Maybe Kris can do something with this...but more likely he'll end up in the Idol also-ran pile, like Rueben Studdard and Taylor Hicks.

As for the winner, they are both such different kinds of performers. Adam is a performer. Theatrical, entertaining, dynamic with an amazing voice and vocal range.

Kris, for me is an amazing musician. There is just a love of music that seems to ooze out of him that seems so effortless.

Its hard to judge when people like different things . Its like comparing apples to oranges. Yes, on a singing level, Adam's voice is superior but at a musician level, I find Kris excels.

Im a big classic rock fan but love the old mellow 70's stuff too. For my taste, I prefer Kris. I sometimes felt Adam was a bit too much for me. His drama was a bit too distracting for me so I ended up enjoying the music itself better with Kris than with Adam.

Best finale ever though. First one that I enjoyed watching the entire way through! It's also the first time Im considering going to the AI Tour!

Great post! Fair summarization of the 2 guys also. It's not fair to say one sucks vs the other one. They are both so different, you really just can't compare. They are both pretty great at their genres.

It's funny to hear people say that so-and-so is talented enough that they will do well anyway. I disagree. I think the ONE and ONLY factor from here on that will determine how successful they become is the material they produce. Adam (or any of them) can be over-the-top talented, but if they choose to record crummy songs, they will go nowhere. That is what has happened every single time an Idol has failed. It is all about the opportunities and material that they select from here on out. Hope they both choose well.

My DH is anti-American Idol. He refuses to watch and hates it when I drag him in to watch a performance. Well, last night I just knew he HAD to see Adam with KISS. The look on his face was really funny. He was frustrated at first when Adam was standing alone singing Beth, then when KISS came out he LOVED it - even if he wouldn't admit it.

That performance is now tied with David Cook and ZZ Top as my FAVORITE all time AI moment.

I don't understand what you are saying and I most certainly don't undertsand the eye roll. Maybe you could clarify? With respect to Jennifer Hudson's success, she chose her opportunities well.

That finale was awesome!!! I don't watch during the season, but always watch the season finale. I was glad the way it turned out in the end. I like that Kris won and I think he appeals more to the masses, but I have to say that Adam is a great theatrical performer. They both have great futures ahead of them.

ITA. Adam, at his heart, is a showman. He is also the best thing that could possibly happen to groups like KISS and Queen. 30 years plus on, they are probably quite happy to have someone without an AARP card that might possibly join the tour. (Or just show up and perform at a concert here and there as time permits.)

Kris--I really like him because he's not only a gifted singer, he's a musician. It's his talent for both that will give him some very good opportunities and options.

I just saw a video online of Simon before the show and he seemed to change his tune and predicted Kris would pull off an upset. I wouldn't have thought that by his reaction last night.

Has anyone been able to find the David Cook video on itunes? I want to buy it but it doesn't seem to be there.

It was announced on our local Fox news station here in Arkansas that AT&T said that 34 million (or something like that) of the votes came from Arkansas. Of course, I have to assume that most of these votes went to Kris and probably because he's a local hometown boy. *sigh*

I'm very happy for Kris. I think he has a lot of talent and potential. He's a cutie and seems very nice and down-to-earth. However, I'm one of those that think Adam should have won. As many have said before me, he'll have a stellar career without the Idol win. It's very clear that Hollywood is in love with him and I truly believe he'll have opportunities that most entertainers can only dream about.

I just hope that Kris can and will live up to the Idol title. I can't help but feel a little nervous for him right now.

Those people who power voted for him better power purchase for him too. He is such a sweet guy that it will be really infuriating if he ends up being forever known as the kid who shouldn't have won American Idol. Such a ton of pressure on him and it looked like he was feeling it immediately.

I completely agree w/ you!! Reuben and Taylor (especially Taylor) were just BAD all around. I think (and hope) Kris will do really well. I'd love to see him to some Keith Urban type country. Their duet was simply awesome! Can't wait to go home and download that tonight.

Reuben and Taylor, nice guys, but Kris is in another league altogether.
LOVED that performance with Keith Urban. I know there are lots of Kris dislikers--their choice, their taste--but that song with Keith said it all. They were really great together. The due with Urban and Carlos Santana's amazing performance were my top two of the night. (I will make time to get to the Hard Rock in Vegas and See Santana's show.)
