I loved Rod! I do think he'd been hitting the sauce, but he sounded great. Kris and Keith.....Well, that takes me back to the eternal debate: What is better? Keith Urban's looks or his voice?
Now for KISS. Someday they're going to come out in full makeup, huge platform shoes, black and metal outfits......pushing walkers.
I told DH that way back when, there's no way they sat around and said, "You know, we still may be playing in 30 years or so. But we'll be a lot flabbier, grayer and more wrinkled by then. I think we ought to paint our faces in full black and white makeup so that no matter how old we get, we can still pull off the illusion that we're not old guys. They'll see the makeup, not the wrinkles. And if we wear big platform shoes, they'll fixate on those and not the fact that we're beginning to hunch over. Better yet, let's wear black and metal outfits that can have stays in them or even full body metal to make us look muscular no matter how many muscles we lose. The more pudge, the more metal. Gray hair? Heck, we can use dye or big, huge wigs! We could play these 'roles' forever guys!" No, it was an attention getting gimmick to set them apart....and it worked. But what serendipity! Everything they chose in their costuming and makeup has made it possible for them to play these roles (and they are roles, not just regular singers) for DECADES! As long as Gene can roll out that tongue, they're good to go.
I guess I'm the only one who wasn't thrilled with the Queen spot. It pains me to see them. It's like a knife in the heart to see them with no Freddy. I can't help it.
No one will ever touch Freddy's talent or larger than life personality. Not to take away from the others in the band.....They are amazing. But there's just a big hole there without Freddy. Someone mentioned going to a Commodores comcert years ago. I went when I was WAY young to a triple play concert. First was A Taste of Honey. They sang a few songs and were really good. The crowd liked them. The Commodores were the main draw and were last. The second act was Ashford and Simpson. For those of you who don't know who they are, they were a very successful husband and wife songwriting duo who eventually began to record as well. However, when they performed they got all ......well, "hunchy" for lack of a better term.
They were rubbing all over each other onstage and dragging out a 3 minute song into a 10 minute hornyfest. And they did it every single song, or so it seemed. The crowd grew tired of that fast and plus.....They were ready for The Commodores. The crowd didn't act the way I'd seen concert crowds act in the past. Nope.....they took action.
The next thing I knew, beer and wine bottles were flying toward the stage and Ashford and Simpson. They finished the song they were doing, but got the hint and took their leave. The point had been made. 
We got The Commodores.But the best part of the night may have been Kara (even though she normally gets on my nerves) showing up Snotty Bikini Girl. Bikini Girl did NOT like being second fiddle and getting diddled out of being the center of attention. Maybe she was thinking, "Dang. I should have gone for the DDs."
Rod sounded great, even if he did kinda portray an"old man in plaid" vibe...a little unsteady on his feet, I hope all is well healthwise for him.
