American Idol Top 4 Idol Chatter and Idle Chatter

I am vacationing in a weird area and my computer set for dialidol to vote. Looks like I got in about 2000 votes. Either I did really well or it didn't work!!! I'm not sure I want Adam linked to the idol song for the next several months before something else comes out. I do think it was a song that Danny would have done the best with.

Oh well, that is one of the burdens the winner has to bear.

It looks like it is all left to the texters!

I tried voting last night for 2 hours
and only got through 1 vote for Adam.

In the end there's so many other factors at play besides vocal skills. .

I have the feeling that Adam's tongue comes into play a lot. I think many people are not necessarily voting FOR Kris, but rather AGAINST Adam and his tongue. Haven't you people SEEN the ridiculous faces Kris makes when he sings? I'd never hate him for it though- a musician does whatever it takes to get the music out the way you want it. John Mayer (sp?) has some interesting facial contortions too, but he's doing great.

Apparently, right before taping of the show, Cowell said that despite America's expectations of an Lambert victory, he believes underdog Kris Allen will win the competition. He knows the votes so I bet Kris has ben leading the past couple weeks.

Can't believe everyone got through 200/900 times! Did you really keep count?? I only got two little votes in for Adam.

I didn't keep count, but I'm pretty sure I got through at least 200 times for Kris. I had to be persistent, though. I voted for about 3 hours and decided it was time for bed. I'm really hoping Dial Idol is right.

Oh, and I voted for Kris b/c I LOVE Kris and want him to win...not b/c I have a vendetta against Adam.

I can't vote yet out here but it sounds like it is going to be a LONG night.

And I agree with all of you who said that last song was AWFUL. With all the money that show makes can't they hire SOMEONE capable of writing something half-way decent????

Since Canadian Idol has been discontinued, they should hire Chantal Kreviazuk. She did some awesome coronation songs. Get her husband, Raine Maida to help and perhaps you guys could finally have a half decent song. It really is a terrible way to end a great season.

I just heard on the news that the winner tonight will go to Disney and do the Disney "what are you going to do now" commercial and they will also sing "When you wish upon a star" for the commercial AND they will get free passes for life!

after hearing that horrible mountain and hurricane song that Kara helped write, I think it would be better FOR Adam to NOT win tonight! Give that horrible song to Kris, although he didn't do any better with it.

I say let Kris get stuck with the stinky song and Adam goes on and puts out a killer album

Adam is much to good to be stuck with that song!

That being said I did vote for Adam and only got through 4 times in an hour.

I think people like who they like and they don't even need to know why. I appreciate the almighty Adam vocal skills - boy he sure knows how to use his voice! I just don't love the way his voice sounds. Can't help it.

People on this thread try to analyze and reason and pigeonhole fans and the way they vote. How many times have I read that if we don't love Adam, we must not appreciate hard rock music. That is hilariously inaccurate. I can rock with the best of them. And my son (16) listens to some crazy hard music. He sat down and watched Idol for the first time last night and said "oh that piano guy is so much better." NOT saying he was right....just demonstrating how we simply cannot label fans.

It is definitely not over. Like my son said, it isn't good for new listeners hearing the winner for the first time, to be known by the idol song. It does nothing to get them new fans.

Personally, I'm happy to wait.

I know that there are plenty of people that voted for Kris because they truly like him and want him to win. I'm not saying that everyone is voting for Kris just to vote against Adam. But I have seen many state that they are voting for Kris just to vote against Adam. And that is why I am worried that Adam might not win.

Can you believe how close Dialidol is?!! It's gonna be really exciting to see what happens tonight. My last two finals are today too so it's a fun little kick-off to the summer

I'm honestly rooting for Kris That last song was just horrendous and Adam's honestly way too good for it. I'm a big fan and wouldn't want to have to change the station when he comes on the radio Like a previous poster said, the AI coronoation song never actually gets them any new fans. It's like with last season - my mom didn't watch last season but whenever both David's songs came on the radio, she liked Archuletta's better. She can rock wih the best of them, too, and got me into The Who, Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath from the time I was little. It was just more of a regular song than Cook's "magic rainbow" monstrosity She does like the rest of David Cook's album though.

If Kris wins do you think they'll actually make him sing that song? He looked like he was in pain the entire time. He really struggled and couldn't hit the notes. Good luck with that... to whoever wins!

Things I Didn't Like:

Making them re-sing a song from a previous night - It's tough to recapture the moment although Kris probably did better this time around.

Producer's Pick - one last attempt to pimp Adam. (He did a terrific job with it, btw) If they cared, they could've given Kris a comparable song.
I'm also disappointed in the way the show has been produced all year long. It has seemed kind of "flat". I don't know nearly as much about the contestants as I did last year.

The Craptastic Coronation Song - I don't think there are enough adjectives to fully describe how bad this is. Talk about wordy! As Adam was singing, I kept thinking this was written with Danny in mind. It kind of makes last year's "Magic Rainbows" line not so bad, right?


If Simon is privvy to the actual vote numbers, then he knows who has a better shot of winning. If Adam's numbers have been static over the last few weeks, then Kris has a good shot at the upset. I think Danny's fans will break toward Kris but if he is way behind, then it doesn't matter. If Adam and Kris were indeed a million votes apart last week, then that will be the deciding factor.

Who do I want to win? I'd be ok with either. Other than Allison, I haven't been really invested in a contestant this year. I knew she couldn't win so I was hoping for a good ride for her. She lasted longer than I could've predicted at the beginning of the season.


I look forward to tonight's show though. It will be fun to see everyone back and see/hear the guest singers.


Regardless of who wins tonight:
Adam - will have worldwide appeal
Kris - will have a promising singer/songwriter/arranger career ahead of him.
