Syesha: One Rock-n-Roll Too Many from Starlight Express

Jason: Memory from Cats

Brooke: You Must Love Me from Evita (the movie version)

David A: Think of Me from The Phantom of The Opera

Carly Jesus Christ Superstar from the show of the same name

David C: The Music of The Night from Phantom

It was refreshing to have a mentor that didn't gush all over the contestants and actually had some constructive things to say. I usually hate the mentoring, but I thought it was great that week and found myself looking forward to ALW's comments.

I agree. I found his comment about Brooke hilarous!:lmao:

I also loved that he changed Carly's song. I don't ever remember a mentor doing that in the past.

Oh yeah! Who didn't think it was HILARIOUS watching ALW tell David C to sing to him as though he were a gorgeous 17 year old girl??

I forgot to vote last night. Although I did remember vote for a presidential nominee, so cut me some slack ;)

So I was wondering…you're going to laugh at me….was this the week that, when you vote, you hear their voices rather than the generic "thank you for voting for contestant 5?" We always get a kick out of that (we are easily amused) and will call all the numbers just to hear their recordings. Then we call our favorites over and over just to hear their voices.

And we were debating, also, whether next week is when they start to do 2 songs each. If not, it's definitely the following week. I always enjoy that.

Love, love LOVED David Cook's performance last night. I'm not familiar with any of the songs, but his just really stood out as someone who "got it." I'm not surprised though -- my DD's teacher grew up with him (and therefore there's a lot of Idol talk in her class) and was telling the kids how she used to do musical theater with him in school, and that he was always the star of the show. I love how it showed a softer side of him and how his voice was so smooth.

And don't even get me started on that look he gives with the half-smile and the bedroom eyes -- I was swooning all through the performance.

I love Andrew Lloyd Weber! :thumbsup2 His music is great.

Overall not too bad, I actually liked Syesha this week

Jason --- I didn't like, I think he is in danger tonight

Brooke ---- oh Brooke --- :sad2:

David A --- Ok, I just can not get 'into' him though.

Carly --- I thought she is good and I think she is safe tonight

David Cook ---- This man can sing ANYTHING! :worship:

Going home, Jason or Brooke. I think it is time for both of them to go.

OMG! David C was amazing!! That voice just gets to me.

The judges didn't "rip Brooke a new one" because you could see that she knew she screwed up. Paula told her that that is something as a performer you must never do - 'nuff said.

Carly had to shout - to be heard over those back-up singers! If the back-up singers want to perform like that, maybe they should just try out for AI! They were god-awful!! Loved her performance, though.

Jason has his niche, and unlike the two Davids, he can't stray too far from it. This was not his niche.

Sayesha - eh, she's aw-ite, but nothing special. I still don't "get" her.

David A turned out another good performance. But there's something so robotic about that kid.

Syesha: I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Syesha's performance. I think this was the first week that I actually watched the whole thing - heck, I even rewound it and watched again. She was very good. This is the first time I have liked her. :goodvibes

Brooke: I guess since the judges actually PRAISED her last time when she started over, she figured it was OK to do it again????? :confused3

Carly: I thought she was great, and I'm not a fan of her's either. I watched her twice too. :goodvibes

Little Davey: puppies, kittens, vanilla ice cream.....zzzzzzz

Jason: I really enjoy having Jason around. He always makes me laugh, but last night wasn't his best. (It doesn't help that I really don't like that song.)

David Cook: I like the rocker vibe more, but once again... he WOWED me. :lovestruc I watched his performance several times, and listened to it with my eyes closed a couple of times too. I really love the sound of his voice. :cloud9:

Wow, while I seldom agree with anyone 100%, I don't normally feel like I'm in an alternate universe either.
But since I've never been shy about posting my opinion... here goes:

Syesha - I've been wanting her gone for awhile now, but after last night's performance I think she absolutely deserves to stay... for at least another week.
(even though that probably means someone I like better overall will be gone)

Jason - Yikes!
Apparently the AI PRODUCERS all got chills when Jason was performing this song and he had a really good rehersal with ALW. He's supposedly making the song more "current."
Gotta be the alternate universe thing kicking in. I thought it was awful.

Brooke - I thought she did OK with the song once she got going. Interesting that Paula suggested she just make something up if she forgets the lyrics. Like she wouldn't get ripped for that as well, especially with ALW sitting in the audience. I agree with Randy and Simon; since she was only on the first line, starting over was probably the right thing to do. Wouldn't work much further into the song, or if it was an elaborate choreographed show though (like Paula is used to, so I see her point) Of course it doesn't help Brooke that it wasn't her first do-over of the season.
But hey, she didn't cry OR talk back. Come on Brooke haters, give her some credit for that.

David A - I was surprised Simon was so negative when he said one of the keys to doing well on the night would be giving the song a contemporary vibe. IMO little David pulled that off better than anyone and I actually liked his arrangement of Think of Me.

Carly - I didn't like it, I thought it was more than 'a little' shouty. But I don't particularly care for that song and Carly is not one of my favorites either... so I guess I'll just defer to everyone else who thought she was great on this one.
:confused3

David C - Here we go again... ;)
I am still a huge DC fan, and I don't think the performance hurt him. I just wish he would have brought more of the rock flair to the song, like the last few notes. Good, but not great for me.
Just the opposite for me. I thought he was great, other than the last few notes. Please, no rock vibe on Music of the Night!

Top 3 ALW performances for me:
1. David C
2. David A
3. Syesha

My guess is either Brooke or Jason to go home
(especially since my DD's cancelled each other out voting for the two of them last night) :rotfl:

No, I got the regular, "Thanks for voting for contest 6." I look forward to hearing the voice of David C when I call in. Maybe next week for the top 5?

I really really like Jason but last night was not his night - I think he should have done another song but I know he said he really likes that song. I am just praying that Jason stays a little longer.

But the true winner last night has got to be David Cook.

First off, big props to you for voting in the PA primary.

IIRC, they start having the contestants "answer" the phone call in the top 4. So one more week of "thank you for voting for contestant 5" and then we should hear their voices.

I really wish they would cut the results show down from one hour to 30 minutes. they just drag it out and out and out

Brooke should be going home tonight. It's just WRONG that Syesha should be in the bottom two. Her performance last night was excellent.
