American Idol Season 9 Thread

Ooh, count me in! And I'm very happy that they aren't doing that weird wild card thing like last season. I much prefer the traditional way. Oh, I also hope they get rid of "the save". That was dumb.

In the X factor UK we have 4 catergories, boys, girls, groups and over 25's,all the judges help pick the top 6 in each group and then they are given a section each to mentor, they then chose the top 3 from their section to go through to the live shows where we can start voting and the bottom 2 each week sing to be saved by the judges or the public vote if the judges decision is a tie. This happens up until about the last 3 -4 weeks where the judges don't get a say anymore. Hope this sort of explains it !!

I missed most of the first season, but I remember watching the finale with my son standing in his crib captivated by Kelly.....

Dangit, i asked for my "official" thread to be merged with Mandy's here and so far nada. I guess I'm just not that special afterall.

DH set up our DVR last night to tape IDOL and very wisely made sure to add 5 minutes onto the end time of the taping. Those of you who Tivo or DVR make sure you do the same! The show almost always runs long.

I get the feeling Ellen is going to be more for comedy relief then anything, I think she will play off of Simon and vice versa. She might be a little more critical then Paula but not much.


As far X Factor goes why can't Simon do both? AI only tapes a few month of the year

Me too! I really like Simon, and I'm sure I'm going to love Ellen. I wish they would bring back former contestants to judge. I'd love to see David Cook - I mean, hear his opinion...

I hope Simon doesn't decide to bounce once his contract is up. I'd rather had Kara take a hike than Paula.

That is awesome!!! I'm so jealous, too. They're coming to Indy in June w/ Tim McGraw. I'm hoping I get to go. I wish I would've listened to them sooner. I absolutely love Charles' voice. Swoon! Right now, I'm completely addicted to "Love Don't Live Here Anymore"...that song is great!!

I watched some of last season on Reality TV. But to keep this Idol related as well, Anoop has recorded three songs today in Nashville!

I was going to go to the Cinci date but they switched the shows around so now I can't. The new album is even better just from the clips I have heard, some of the songs gave me goosebumps.

So glad I came across this thread. Had no idea when Idol was to begin - haven't seen one trailer for the new season!

Wish Paula had stayed (even though she annoyed me to no end at times) - Kara could have left...will be interesting to see how it goes with Eleen. She was genuinely excited and is a huge fan of all kinds of music, so hope she will be "the woman on the street", so to speak.

Better set up a timer right now.
