American Idol Season 9 Thread

The "beggar guy" was kinda pathetic in his performance, not to mention whining for another chance....

I think someone else already mentioned this, but when I first saw him, I thought it was Andrew Garcia, who is my early favorite, for a second. But I'm thinking that Garcia had his head screwed on the right way too much to grovel like that (and to be so bad). I was glad that I found out I got them confused.

That was me. I'm glad I wasn't the only one that got them confused;)

Looking forward to the live show starting up in a couple of weeks. I think Ellen was a great replacement and will offer a lot to the show. If Simon really does leave next year, I think it's going to be really tough to replace him. I keep hoping that this is all a ploy for money, I guess we'll see.

I think he has signed on to do something else. Another talent like show I believe. So I think it's a done deal that he is leaving.

Yes, Cowell is committed to doing X-Factor, so you can be sure he won't be back on American Idol next year.

Well, that stinks that Simon will definitely not be coming back. I wonder how long the show can go on without him. I have to admit, he's a big part of why I watch.

I'm going to apologize now if spoilers are not as often this season, I'm getting slammed every week with at least 6 paper if not more plus all my other classes.

I can't stand her, I'm so hoping she gets cut soon!! I don't want her making top 24. I don't like her voice, or her witchy attitude towards everyone. Go home!!

I felt so sorry for Lynch (Big Mike) listening on the phone to his wife being in labor, knowing he gets to the top 24 only to be kicked off because his stupid father couldn't keep his mouth shut. So sad that he had to miss being there for the birth of his child. :sad1:

What did his father say? ETA: NM--just found it.

How extremely unfortunate if it does occur.

That's ok.

And: papers are evil. I think they make students do them for busywork.

I have been watching since the season began. I LOVE them! I started to follow Michael Slezak on twitter so I know as soon as the new ones are up!

I wish Kristin all the best but I will miss her terribly when she is out on leave. She's great on Idolatry and her Bachelor recaps are hilarious too!

American Idol will announce some of its Top 24 semifinalists during a two-hour episode Tuesday (FOX, 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central). The Tuesday announcements mark a change from the way the Top 24 has been revealed during past seasons.
After last week's shows, the field of contestants had narrowed to 71. And on Tuesday, some of those contestants will perform their final solo number in front of the four judges, in hopes of singing their way into the Top 24

Interesting....I wonder if they are worried about ratings with the Olympics? With most of the events being shown live this year (which I LOVE) I am kind of on a break from all my other shows. The DVR is going crazy, but those shows will just have to wait until after the games. I wasn't GASP planning on watching Idol this week since I already peeked at the Top 24. I'm sure I am not the only one.

I think that's a strong possibility, Kelly. The Winter Olympics are doing a lot better than expected which may change a few schedules this and next week. We were in negotiations with NBC (who owed us 21 weeks worth of spots) and they made this big promise to play them all during the Olympics. TPTB at my company nixed that, thinking "who watches the Winter Olympics"??? I get the feeling I'll be getting some calls after this weekends numbers roll in!

I'm also watching AI BASED on the Top 24. Too many times have they fooled me into thinking they were going to showcase a talent I really liked only to put me down.:sad2: This year I'm just concentrating on the Top 24!:thumbsup2

It would depend on what events are on when Idol's on. If it's figure skating, I'll watch Idol. I'm not much into figure skating but will watch a lot of the other events. I watched them all afternoon yesterday.
