American Idol Season 6: The Official Thread

Do you think Randy, Paula, and Simon sit in front of the mirror practicing their expressions? Some of those looks/stares are just too funny. And the stone faces??? There's no way I could just keep a straight face during some of those horror performances - if you can even call them that - without either puking or laughing hysterically.

I loved some of Simon's expressions. You could tell right away from the look on his face how bad he thought they were.

And that one guy at the end..the rocker who wanted to be like Chris Daughtry..was it just me or did he sound like he was REALLY pushing/straining his voice?

TOV

::yes:: It sounded painful - like he had rocks in his throat :crazy2:. I don't even like listening to the bands he was trying to imitate, though.

Haha I can't believe it, I've been looking forward to this for weeks, and was so tired when I came home from work I fell asleep on the couch and just woke up now! Guess I'll have to read all your recaps.

Did Paula actually do anything tonight? It seemed to me that all she said was Yes or Pass.

I can't believe I just read all of today's posts and nobody mentioned PAULA?? What is up with her, was she drunk? At one point, she looked like she was sleeping! And she kept drinking, like there was something in there. Her speech is slurred now, has anyone heard what is wrong with her? I can't believe they're keeping her on like this.

My favs were the girl in the reserves whos husband was in Bagdhad and the young girl who said she was a crack baby....the young 16 year old black girl...she was pretty good....I guess being a guy i have to like the shekira wannabe....she was nice to look at but didnt care for her voice, dont like Shekiras either for that matter...did they say only 17 from tonights show moved on....thats just sad....what are these people thinking even coming out to audition....why do there parents give them such false hope....if my boys couldnt sing or whatever i sure would not encourage them....maybe its just me....I laughed alot tonight so i guess the show did what it set out to do....

Tonight was really funny. I couldn't stop laughing I am sorry to say. My favorite was the girl who lives with her grandmother and the lady in the army or whatever with the husband overseas. It is going to be intresting to see tomorrow's show.

Ok- get ready to throw things at me. . . I was disappointed by tonight's show. For some reason, it just wasnt as funny as I hoped it would be :duck:

I DID think it was REALLY interesting that the girl whose boss flew her in only sounded good when she was looking straight at him. I think she does like him

OK there were 15 minutes of show in the first 37 minutes! Good golly - 49 minutes of show in 2 hours! Can you say advertiser's dream??? (I say this as someone who actually writes ads for a living - thought , not any on tonight, or pretty much any spots you have to pay for!!)

Shakira girl was scary at first, then got better. Jewel was intersting. She was trying to be nice - sorta.

Com'on AI bring on the singers next week.

The only ones last night who are halfway talented was the girl with the curly hair who was singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow and the boy singing California Dreaming (the Mamas and Papas song). The rest were truly horrible or just o.k.

Randy and Simon were giving me the heebie jeebies the way they were openly lusting after some of the young girls. :crazy2: Loved Jewel, she seems very down to earth and real...I think having her there allowed Paula not to gush so much. BTW, did anyone read that Paula and Jewel had a smackdown? I was hoping to see it last night, but maybe it happened off screen?

I haven't read yet all posts concerning last night's show but I'm sure someone had to mention ALL the commercials!!! I threw a movie in on my DVD and watched a good part of that during AI's ads!!:happytv:

Well I just read 6 new pages of posts and there's nothing I can really add but here's my 2 cents.

First of all ... 17 chosen out of 10,000!!!!!!! :faint: I believe they showed us 7 of those and out of those I found 3 that I actually felt could sing.

Ah, but first the freaks. And the winner is....
The 16 year old juggler kid. What a potty mouth and if you want to dope slap his parents, you'll have to take a number. I've got first dibs.

Of those who made it through, I found these 4 to be OK in some cases to why did the judges let them go through??

Denise - Crack Baby. She was OK, not great and Bianca Ryan did that song so much better. Too bad she told the Crack story. Now we're going to be calling her that for as long as she's on the show.

Jarred - Navy guy. Another one I thought was OK but not great. Would he have made it through without the uniform?

Michelle - Sang a country song which, less than 12 hours later, I can't remember. Apparently she wasn't that great because I've got that I didn't like her in my notes.

Rachael - Army reservist. Umm, no. Her voice made me want to scream.

My top three from last night.

3. Perla - the Latin chick. I think she's got a voice and stage personality but I kept getting the feeling that she'd turn out to be annoying before too long.

2. Matt - The 16 year old who sang California Dreaming. I bet the make over artists on AI are itching to get their hands on him. He's a cutie anyway and seems like a nice kid. I found his voice to be quite beautiful.

1. The winner of the promising contestants is...
Sarah - The singer of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. After a night of hitting the mute button, she made my jaw drop. Even the husband, who by now had fled the room, asked who was singing that.

And they said tonight's auditions are going to be worse? :sad2: :sad2:

Remember that song "The Freaks come out at night?"... Well, that was a freaky show.

I have to say thank God for DVR--because it was commercial after commercial. There were only a few that I thought were interesting.

Perla-the Latina woman, interesting--poor Blondie, but good Shakira. I loved her saying something like I'm not coming in on a pity or sob story, but coming in with talent.

The woman with the husband overseas--cute, but voice is lacking a bit.

Jarred the Navy guy--fun and interesting.

Did anyone notice a theme of armed forces? There were tons of service people auditioning.

I honestly didn't like the crack baby girl. I hate to even call her that... but she called herself that. She wasn't that great--skated by on a pity story.

I thought this episode was LAME!

I thought the Crack Baby's performance was awful....not just o.k,., but awful.

Do you think they have some kind of security hidden behind the camera just in case someone goes after the judges?? There were some people last night with some SERIOUS anger issues! Dh (the eternal pessimist) said that people come on and fake it, but I think that the majority of those people really think they have talent! :confused3 I can't believe the gall of the ones who actually ASK why the judges thought they were bad! That kid in the beginning who said he had all kinds of range and they let him sing, what, 3 or 4 songs, and he still stunk! And they will go out of there believing that the judges were wrong and they have talent. Wow... And the cowardly lion girl asking if they wanted her poster... You would think they would put up a "Use Other Door" sign!
