American Idol Season 6: The Official Thread

I wasn't liking this show last night, and I usually don't mind seeing the bad singers. But what I kept thinking was, "Is this what happens when the judges *aren't* mean?" Because I thought they should have been much tougher than they were, especially on Ian the over-the-top, already-been-on-a-Fox-reality-show-audition guy, and Ashanti the soap-opera-monologue girl. Oh, and the girl who yelled and screamed about the judges going out for drinks the night before. She actually got booed by the people in the background when she did that.

I think that if you're a therapist and you want *a lot* of work, you just need to go hang out around the Jersey audition line next year. :sad2:

I didn't watch last night's show until this morning because we ended up going out to dinner with the ILs as well as taking a trip to the store where DH might end up getting promoted. :wizard: pixiedust:

When that one guy (whose name I'll never forget now)Ian walked in all I could do was yell at my TV. "You're not a superstar. You're a SUPER QUEEN!!!".

I also thought Simon was right on with his wannabe look-a-like. The guy should be in a dress and heels and a long wig. I think it was just his overly-shaped eyebrows that screamed "queen" at me.

What was with that girl at the end? She sounded like she was auditioning for a porno! :scared1:

Loved the chubby black girl. She was just SO enthusiastic, even if she couldn't really sing all that well.

They didn't show Kermit or Dorothy boy's auditions. You only caught snippets of them when they showed a montage of REALLY BAD singers singing.

American Idol fans: Bucky Covington, Ace and Justin Guarini will be on Larry King Live tonight, January 25th.

Also, Bucky is making his premier at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on
March 9th (CD comes out in April) - I'm so happy for Bucky as he was my favorite last year along with Chris.

I'm glad Bucky's doing so well. I kind of liked him. Has there been any news about Kevin Covais (aka Chicken Little)? I LOVED him..he was so cute and little and I just wanted to stick him in my pocket and take him home. :)

I haven't heard anything--but I thought I remember seeing him with a few other of last seasons idols on the tv showing of the Disney Christmas parade.

I missed that..we were at the ILs doing Christmas stuff and I didn't have any more room on my TiVo.

He was such a cutie and I really rooted for him last season.

I can't believe we have to wait till 2/13 for Hollywood, I'm so sick of all these auditions.

We will be watching at our house. It is a family time that we always enjoy.
We are really excited about the season starting and can't wait to pick our favorites.

omg thank you!!

I just found this thread...
I thought that the first guy--Ian something-or-other--was one of the funniest auditions I have ever seen on idol.
"I want to add American Idol to my already impressive resume!"
"My family, friends, and therapist all say I'm a superstar!"
"As a citizen of the United States, I demand to see your working visa!"

I'm guessing he's been talked about already though, lol.

Watching Larry King right now.....Ian was just on there....Ian was the won that stood up to Simon and was escorted out....he has a record deal....

Justin, Kimberly, Bucky and Ace are on...and WILLIAM HEUNG HAS ENTERED THE BUILDING

Sanjaya Malakar and Sundance Head have been far and away the most impressive so far in auditions.

Ace is in WDW right now, he told Larry King tonight.

I watched it too. I couldn't believe that William Hung has made over a million dollars for NOT being able to sing.

Ace and Bucky both looked good.

Interesting when Bucky said that once you get pass the first audition they make you sign something that tells you your either one of the best or one of the worst and they could make fun of you.

I can't believe that that Ian guy has a recording contract - it's got to be a comedy CD.
