American Idol Season 6: The Official Thread

I am a bit bored with the auditions....lets get to hollywood already....i wish they showed more of the group stuff and less of the auditions

There was this one 16yo named Henry, I think, who was just perfection. Too young though.

Its a singing competition...LOL....we did get a couple good looking best friends ....girls....yeah baby

Is there something in the water in NYC? I had a headache by the end of last night's 2 loooooooooooong hours. With only a bit of talent here and there, tonight's show was like the Seattle offering only on a grand scale.

The Bad:

All of these are the first members of the Mute Club.
The bank guy.
The girl wearing the cowboy hat.
The Simon Look Alike.
Isadora!

The Ugly:

Ian. Actually I found him to be a riot! :rotfl: He gave us the best quote of the night when he asked Simon if he had a working visa. :lmao:

The Good:

The girl who cried through most of her 10 minutes of fame. Once I got by that, I really enjoyed her voice. She had a different sound than most.

The Friends.
#1: Liked her OK but didn't see anything unusual.
#2: Less polished but thought her voice was better.

Kia. She was the last singer from day 1 and I've got down she was awesome but for the life of me I can't remember what she sang. :confused3

I missed most of Henry's audition but what I heard was alright, not great.

The former Canadian girl, Jory, was better than most that got through.

I actually liked the girl who sang opera. She was a bit shaky but I want to hear more of what she's bringing.

Christopher was quite good and the girl who worked out for a year to prepare was excellent although she needs a make over.

The best of the night for me was Nicholas, a returnee from last year. I really, REALLY like his voice. Hopefully he's become more disciplined and will sail through the Hollywood round.

Yahoo, next week is Birmingham. Bring on the talent, I hope.

Speaking of plastic surgery...was that Olivia Newton John???

Yes, that was her. Why didn't we see more of the auditions when she was helping judge? Where was she? Was she in NJ with them one day?
I don't get it.

My favorites from last night were the girl from Ohio who had left for NY without telling her unsupportive parents (skipped school-presumably colleg-for two days). I was quite pleased she made it through and then was rolling listening to her call her dad. Dad sounded ok, but I just know he went BALLISTIC as soon as he hung up the phone. Thank God that girl is over 18 or I bet she would be grounded for life!

The black girl who gave the long sob story about how important it was to her, complete with the soap-opera music underneath her dramatic repartee...SUCH an obvioud actress.

The short heavy set black girl with the weird pointy teeth. Her enthusiasm was wonderful...first time I ever actually felt bad for a contestant who was a bad singer. She really was hurt.

I LOVED the black dude who looked like Taye Diggs!

The two friends cracked me up. The one without training was the better singer by far...much like the brother and sister team last week where the brother was terrific and the sister was just ok.

Finally, the super buff chick who lost all that weight and has been training daily to get in shape for idol. She had such a nice smokey, sexy tone to her voice. With just a bit of polish she could be an awesome performer!

I was crying with her. I had a controlling dad like that, who was not supportive either, so it could of been my dad. I could hear the tightness in his voice, he was NOT happy. LOL

Well, I hope she makes it to the top 10, and then dad comes to the performances, and they interview him.

I don't get it.

I do believe they are cross editing segments from other cities. So she will probably be up next week or so.

Like the...umm...well....Isadora chick--she was the very very very first clip on the premiere last week.

I don't know who Taye Diggs is, but I think you are talking about the guy who took my breath away, he was so gorgeous. (is there an overheating smilie?) Holy cow! I called my sister, and I was so wrapped up in how perfect he was, I totally missed that he was only 16 or 17 years old.

WOW. I had a Mary Kay Lateourno moment!;)

I thought she had a great voice, but I was really turned off by her attitude.

Same here. When I realized he was only 16 I was embarrassed by the things that had been going through my mind!!!

Can you believe that guy was only 16! He looked well into his 20ies and what a hunk!

I TIVO'd it so I could ff through all the crap. I just don't find these ridiculous people funny any more.

My favorite of the night by far was the guy who made it last year but screwed up his words. He was far and away the most talented of last night's crew, imo. None of the others knocked my socks off, although I do agree the young black dude was one smokin' hot man. Wasn't crazy about his voice though. That young girl who skipped opera class to come audition, she's gonna get on my nerves, I can just tell. She reminds me of that girl from two seasons ago, ooooh, what was her name? Dark hair, looked and acted a little like Fran Drescher except nowhere near as pretty or unique or funny. Drats, now I'll have to go look it up. But whatever her name is, that is who the girl from last night reminded me of -- the type to wear thin on my nerves in no time flat.

Yeah, I had one, too. He was a little hottie. Looked like the type of guy who could go on to model menswear. Once he gets out of HIGH SCHOOL! :teacher:

Oh geez, he's 16/17? Now I feel creepy that I said he was smokin' hot. :crazy2:

I don’t know if the rest of America cares (or if it was already posted) but…….

they are NOT in NYC they are in the meadowlands of….

NEW JERSEY !!!!
Thank you! I was saying that right from the beginning of the show. There were NJ Devils banners hanging in the background for goodness sakes!

It looked to me like day 2 was held at Chelsea Piers, though.

I really liked Kia Thornton, but I guess I'm a little biased because she's from Englewood. When we lived in NJ, that's where our business was! She was very good so I was delighted for her.

So far, I like Kia, Sundance and the backup singer. I enjoyed Jenry, he was amazingly poised for a 16 year old, aside from being jailbait eye candy!
