I am watching Fox 4 News (Dallas) and the newscaster was talking about AI. He reported (no folks, this is not a joke post) that AI producers are considering replacing Paula Abdul. By their statements, she has been showing up late, in addition to her erratic behavior. Two replacement judges they reported could be . . . are you ready for this . . . Brittany Spears or Jessica Simpson. And this was no joke story. YIKES!

Also, I would think that the contestants would be more respectful of Barry during his limited time on stage, especially since he took his time and money to help them this past week. The one-on-one assistance he provided was invaluable. I would think they would be able to curb the chatter till he at least exited the stage.

I hope that does not happen. Yes she seems to be having some issues but she has a lot of pain and while I don't condone behavior that is erratic if every star that behaved like a good was fired there would not be a lot to watch or listen to.

She brings something to the show that no one else has. She was also a star in an era before Star Machines. She mostly did it herself. Brittainy and Jessica have talent but they have a lot of people telling them what to do when. It's not the same. Their insight will not be the same.

Even when paula DID have a hit, it was the same nasal sound as britney and jessica. They are just younger versions of her. believe me, before Idol, i LIKED paula. she's gotten a little too big for her britches with this show and let's face it, she was never the best singer out there to begin with so i always wondered what she based her knowledge on. randy and simon are music producers and have the "ear" needed for the judging. Well, at least she's not wearing those goofy hats anymore like she used to!

I honestly can not believe they would replace Paula, especially with one of the two bubble heads mentioned as her possible replacements.

I can tell many of you don't care for Paula, but personally, I like her words of encouragement for the contestants. She is light years ahead of Brittany and Jessica in experience and success.

And sure, she may act eratic at times, but have you ever been a pain patient? I can assure you, knowing pain patients (I work in healthcare) as I do, any time they can feel just a bit better they do want to jump for joy. It is very tiring being in constant pain. And no one likes the side effects of pain meds. Sometimes people overcompensate their actions for how they really feel healthwise. Just an observation.

Does anyone notice that SImon is so different this year? He doesnt' seem as harsh and he really just seems to be annoyed with Paula. He looks uncomfortable next to her!
There isn't the same interaction between the 3 of them.

I think it would be a huge mistake to replace Paula with Jessica or gasp, Britnany! Personally I think it would be terrible to replace her during this season! Let it run and then if they do another season then talk about replacement. I do think Paula has some merrit to judge, she may not be the best singer but she has worked with a huge number of people in the music industry.

I agree she IS better than those two mentioned and definitely more qualified than them. as far as her pain, if it's that bad, maybe she needs a leave of absence from the show to take better care of herself. that way she wouldn't be gone for good but just til she feels a little better.

Well, think of Lisa. She is 16 years old. What 16 year old in there right mind would actually admit to liking Barry?

On my Tivo copy, I saw Katherine mouth "Bobby!", Then Mandisa saw him as well, and said "Bobby's over there, or Bobby's there" . Lisa with her lack of clapping seemed really on edge.


Exactly...Lisa is 16 years old and she thought she was going to have to leave the show AND perform gracefully - she was obviously nervous and was NOT being rude to Barry. No way could I have focused in her situation and I'm not 16! The others were just cracking up over Bobby - obviously surprised to see him there...to me they were enjoying both Barry and Bobby- again, not being rude. The AI producers planted Bobby out there and obviously had him stand up on purpose to attract attention - THAT would be the rude thing imo - the others were just reacting. I DID think it was cool that they had Bobby there to meet Barry, though!

YAY BUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with the poster who said that we haven't seen the best of Bucky yet. Can't wait for next week.

OK -- I just heard the whole story again on Fox. The newcasters said that in Us Magazine (well, great, they are getting their info from a rag mag), it was reported that the producers had considered changing Paula out for another celebrity, not are considering changing her out. Just wanted to clarify.

Also, I just had to say that I thought Barry Manilow was great and he really seemed to help the kids out and enjoy making them do their best. However, is it me or is he starting to look a lot like Rod Stewart? It was weird!

Bucky's wife said on our local channel that his goal was to make the top 10. He would feel fortunate to get to travel with AI this summer. She seemed like a sweetie.

He's homesick for some sweet tea and biscuits. Bucky is a picky eater and won't try the Calif. cuisine! What a shame. At least Kellie's up for new experiences and isn't afraid to try things.

The same station reported that Chris Daughtry's band also performed at Christian Rock concerts. I didn't know that. His bandmate said the group was more of a hobby. They spent more money going to perform at clubs than they made.

OMG, I have to say that just turned the tables for me! I have defended Kellie in the past (not that she was my fav by far, but that I believed the ditsy routine was legit), but COME ON! Not only is it hard to believe someone could not at least FIGURE out what it meant in that context, but it was totally inappropriate for her to blurt out that question when she did. Wouldn't she have asked one of the other contestants after last weeks show if she truly DIDN'T get it? After that comment, I was rooting for her to get the boot
