I really liked the last girl too (Katherine?) but does everyone think she was the best vocally like Simon said ??

Thank you that is correct Tamyra was who I was thinking of...I thought she was the best singer that year...Of course Kelly is great too....But I really liked Tamyra and she should have been in the finals before Justin.

Nikki McKibbin was a black girl?

In AI's first of many "shocking" eliminations, Nikki McKibbin outlasted Tamyra Gray (the favorite to win at the time) who got 4th place. IMO, Kelly deserved to win that season and deserves the fame she has now received.

Also, about the Kimberly Caldwell bashing, she was my absolute favorite that season (of course, my taste is nothing like anyone elses here, my current favorite is Brenna Gethers!) and her version of "Anymore" is probably one of my top 5 AI2 performances.

great show! i thought maybe half were pretty awful, but loved: mandesa, paris, katherine, and...uh....#9, she sang before lisa? can't remember her name. but i liked her! those four will be getting my vote. i hope becky and ayla go, ick. can't wait for tomorrow, i'll be pulling for taylor!!!

This is American Idol, not Pasty White Guy American Idol.

I think the fact that you are making a race issue out of that one statement says a bit about you....It was not a race comment but just a general statement...We have seen a white girl win, a black guy win, a black girl win and another white girl win...I was basically saying I would like to see a white guy step up and win...thats all but thanks for taking that and running wth it...I would like to see where you take it from there...I think your pasty white guy statement was more racist than what I said...

I am all for the best singer winning it all... tonight that was the 16 year old girl.....I am so bad with names....oh and she was black....Paris was good too...Liked the basketball player too....

I agree with ick on Becky's voice. (But she is H-O-T!!!

But Ayla did a heck of a job singing, and its not her good all-american girl looks. I yelled from the office (no TV) to DW to find out who was 'nailing her song' and it was AYLA.

I thought that the judges over rated Paris, but she is as cute as a button. She's not a pop star, but she could be a great gospel singer.

OK-- here's my thoughts on everyone--

Mandisa- Great vocal, great song choice, great performance!
Kelly Picker- I don't care for her much, but her performance was decent.
Becky O'Donohue- Singing wasn't great, but showmanship was.
Ayla Brown-- Pretty good-- plus you'll win me over singing a Disney song, too
Paris Bennett- Fantastic all around!
Stevie Scott- Just awful. Her pitch was all over the place-- it was painful to listen to.
Brenna Gethers- Mediocre performance, and I don't care what they say-- I don't like her attitude. It reminds me of too many people I have to deal with at work.
Heather Cox- Not as bad as Stevie, but close. Another awful performance.
Melissa McGhee- One of the better performances tonight, but nothing great. I do like the quality of her voice, though.
Lisa Tucker- Another great performance-- I'd rank it third best of the night.
Kinnik Sky- Mediocre performance-- didn't care for it much.
Katharine McPhee- Good performance, but I don't agree with Simon's assessment that it was the best of the night-- I'd rank it fourth.

My predictions: gone on Thursday, Stevie and Heather.

At this point, I think the final six girls will be Mandisa, Kelly, Paris, Katharie, Ayla, and Lisa.

A little defensive aren't we??? I'm not going to argue with you. But let's be clear...you brought up race, not me. You cheer for the white guys, I'll cheer for the best singer. Now back to the show...

I thought they were all horrible except for Katherine McPhee. Mandisa and Ayla were alright. The rest, including Paris, were awful.

This is what I thought of all the performances tonight:

Really good: Mandisa, Ayla, Paris, Lisa and Katherine

OK: Kellie, Brenna, Heather, Melissa, Kinnik

Bad: Becky, Stevie

I definitely thought the top 3 girls tonight were Paris, Lisa and Katherine. And the worst of the night would have to be Stevie. She should definitely be going home on Thursday because she was just awful. Becky was also pretty bad but I'd rather see Brenna go home. She's not that good and I really don't like her attitude.

Just from tonight I would definitely say that 5 of the top 6 girls would be Mandisa, Ayla, Paris, Lisa and Katherine. The 6th spot could really be anyone, but I would probably say that out of the rest, Kellie is the best.

Ayla was the one who sang the Mulan song. She's the one that was so much taller than Ryan and the judges said she was a pleasant surprise.
