Just a few thoughts, rather than a full rundown of last night:
- If Chris is indeed the one to go tonight, you might as well hand Taylor the crown now. Neither of the other two - and I LOVE Kat, keep in mind - stand a chance against him.
- Wasn't floored by any of the performances last night. I think doing an "Elvis" night was just a bad idea, on it's merits. There are so many impersonators out there that, as Lauri and others have pointed out, there was no way the Idols were going to sound like anything other than someone doing Karaoke.
- On Kat being at a disadvantage...The simple fact is that Elvis just
oozed masculine sensuality. Kat is the polar opposite of "masculine" in every way, shape, and form (and delightfully so, might I add

). Regardless of whether Hound Dog was recorded by someone else, it was
Elvis' song. Even with the ballad, there was just something sensual - in a
masculine way - about the way the King sang it. Seriously, I honestly see
any truly feminine female struggling in her situation last night.
- Elliott singing "I'm evil" while looking like...well, let's just leave it at
- I
like manic Taylor. He's fun to watch, and both enjoys himself and entertains his audience. But the "soulfull" side shone through on "In the Ghetto", and that's what seperates him from "average" singers like Elliott. Elliott could
never pull off a performance like that. Not in a million years.
- I'd comment on Elliott's performances, but I think my neighbor was
skinning a goat at the time he was singing (both times, actually), so I guess I missed it.
- Every year, someone makes it farther than they deserve to, and it appears that this year will be no different. But I will go on record right now saying that
any of the rest of the final five that release an album will outsell anything that
Goatboy inflicts on the listening audience, even if he somehow were to win the whole competition. Clip this quote and save it, then get back to me in a year. I'm saying it flat out...the guy has
no chance of having a hugely successful music career. If you want evidence, look no further than the guest stars' comments. Every one of the final five has received
massive praise from the guest stars that have been on the show, from Queen to Rod Stewart to Andrea Bocelli. Paris, Chris, Taylor (to a lesser extent), and especially Kat have
all been praised for how talented they were. Has
anyone said something like that about Elliott, other than the three judges? If so, I don't remember it.
- To the poster that said Kat needs lessons.

Um...she went to one of the most prestigious music schools in the country, and her mother is a voice coach.
Maybe if she imitated farm animals, some people would like her better.

(Just kidding...please extinguish the torches

)
It's just a tv show, true, and I'll continue to watch and continue to complain when someone less talented lasts longer than someone that deserves to be there. Shoot, half the fun of the show is coming on here and seeing folks get so riled up

Still, I want to see a deserving winner, and I'm sorry, but in my honest opinion, Elliott doesn't even come
close.
