American Idol, Season 5 **Official Discussion Thread** Part 2

I've said this before: The only way to normalize the voting is to make people pay something for it. I had that idea of putting the performances up on iTunes for $0.25 each. That'll ensure that the singer who gets the most votes is the singer who really has the best chance of being a star.

But on Dancing with the Stars, it limited each phone number to only 9 or 10 calls...I think that is the more fair way to go. And I agree with the paying issue...it also is a more true way of seeing who is actually willing to PAY for their favorite. The power voting does not sit right with me either. I wish they would do something to make things more fair---because the only ones that get hurt are the good ones. (Except for Kellie going home last time  )

I think that the show is more concerned about its ratings and much less about who is going to be a star. The four winners haven't produced a lot of revenue for 19E. Simon is always talking about how they love scandal on the show because it boosts ratings. I think that is their bread and butter.

Well...isn't she quite the character? I'm sure she's a genuinely nice person who just came across completely wrong. Check out her comments on his new look.

I always thought she was a genuinely nice person.

Poor Elliot! That Mom sounds like such an attention hog! I hope he gets enough fame to get far away from her! About tickets: We'll be living in the Minneapolis area by the time they come on Aug. 22nd. Do you guys think that the tickets will be sold by Ticketmaster, or only at the venue? (I won't be in MN when they go on sale in May.)

:confused3 I thought she sounded like a very proud mother

I was really taken aback when she said he almost looked handsome. Doesn't every mother think her son is handsome already?? :confused3

I think Elliott's mom sounded like a proud mother who doesn't quite have the filter between her head and her mouth firmly in place.

I didn't get the impression that she was an attention hog, I just thought she was brutally honest, and wasn't used to being interviewed.

I also thought this was odd... :confused3

I just thought it was strange that she talked so much about where she had sung, etc., and that her compliments of Elliott sounded like "backhanded compliments." Can anyone answer my question about who'll be handling ticket sales for the tour?

they have not yet released a date when ticket sales will begin most likely through ticketmaster, however, there are some tickets on sale for a few july shows at this site, "razorgator", hope that answers your question.

btw i know we're all watching idol tonight, i wanted to know if anyone's ever heard of this website "buddytv"?! heard about it through a friend, im not sure what it is, but they are giving out a bunch of prizes tomorrow if you log on to their site while the show is airing, does anyone know about this??

Thanks for the info on ticket sales. I haven't heard of that website you mentioned. Also, isn't AI on tomorrow and Wednesday night? :sunny:

Ya'll are going to out me as an AI follower and junkie. Elliott is our hometown boy. When they say he's a nice fellow it's because he really is. :thumbsup2 ITA that his mother is proud of her boy and all of us here back at home are, too. :teeth: They are definitely not used to that kind of attention and maybe she just stumbled on her words. I don't know if he's got what it takes to go all the way, but I hope to see him in the top three. :wizard: Chris, Paris & Katherine are going to be tough to beat.

I think that poor girl, Kelli Pickler, was just so sheltered. I don't think she had the talent to go all the way. She also made herself seem like she had a below average IQ sometimes. I don't think it was intentional then AI exploited it. :sad2:

~Can't wait until tomorrow night.~
