Who should go home?

Almost everyone tonight!

Honestly, bottom 3 tonight...Lisa, Kellie, Bucky (close 3rd, Katharine)...going home...Lisa.

Lisa needed a knock out tonight to stay in this..she didn't do it.

You know its a terrible week when Bucky is towards the top of the performances.

Anyway, my thoughts...

Lisa...I didn't like her performance at all. Weak, very weak.
Kellie...BORING.
Ace...He was just OK.
Taylor...He sounded pretty good and looked good too. Didn't care much for the song.
Mandisa....All wrong and she sounded totally off.
Chris...He was only OK. His style didn't work for me with that song.
Katherine...I could only think that she was no Christina Aguilera.
Bucky...I think that he sounded pretty good but could have chosen a stronger song. He at least seemed to be having fun singing his style.
Paris...OK performance but I'm just not a fan.
Elliott...Not his best.

All in all, a strangely disappointing night IMO.

I haven't read anyone else's comments on the board so I don't know if others heard what the judges heard tonight but this has got to be the first time that I really disagreed.

I thought Lisa was much better than they gave her credit for. I liked Kellie for the very first time. I thought Ace was going to butcher the song and I quite liked it. I thought Mandisa started rough but finished strongly. I could understand Bucky and enjoyed it as well. I thought Chris rocked it up a few levels. I enjoyed hearing Taylor actually sing a song for a change. I thought Paris was very cute and strong. I thought Elliott did a cool version BUT I did not like Katharine at all and she is one of my favourites.

Worst- Ace, Lisa & Kellie. Still could be a toss up with Bucky?

I liked Elliot, I didn't think it was bad at all.

After watching the play backs Ace was a lot better then I thought he was.

I really disliked- Paris, Katherine, Chris, Mandisa and Lisa.

Didn't like but didn't hate either- Kellie.

I liked- Bucky, Elliot, Ace & Taylor.

I still miss Kevin.

The problem with doing current songs is that you will be initially compared with the original and 99% of the time you will come up very short. When the audience is so familiar with a certain version, you don't really hear how the new singer sounds but just how different they sound.

The judges say change it up and then they say that you've chosen a song that was way above you...yada, yada, yada.

As long as the contestants are singing songs that somebody else has recently made famous, they will never be as good. People like what they are familiar with. We have this exact same problem every year with the theme of new songs.

Taylor was very smart in picking something that people were not familiar with because nobody will compare him with the original.

I was really looking forward to tonight but I was really unimpressed. I missed Lisa's performance so exluding her, this is what I thought of the performances:

Kellie: I thought she was just ok, she wasn't that great, but she wasn't the worst.

Ace: I liked him in the beginning, but he just keeps getting worse and worse every week, and tonight definitely wasn't his best.

Taylor: I love him, but his wasn't my favorite performance tonight. He's done better, but he was still one of the better few tonight.

Mandisa: I like her, but again not her best night. And I'm really not into gospel music, so that might be part of the reason I wasn't too impressed.

Chris: Chris is one of my favorites, but tonight wasn't one of his best nights. He still wasn't the worst of the bunch.

Katharine: I think the first few notes started out weak, but she pulled it through, and I thought she had one of the best performances tonight.

Bucky: I'm sorry, but I still don't get the Bucky love. I definitely agreed with Simon tonight. My family was watching and we were all just like "what is he singing??"

Paris: I know a lot of people don't like her, but I think she's great! And I hate when people compare her to Fantasia because I couldn't stand her! I think Paris had the best performances of the night.

Elliot: What just happened???? Am I the only one that noticed that he totally screwed up the lyrics?? I like him but boy did he mess up big time on that song. The first two lines of the song go "I don't need to be anything other than a prison guard's son, I don't need to be anything other than a specialist's son" and he sang it the other way around. And then the third line, I have no idea what he sang there. The vocals just went bad from there. He's had a lot of good performance, but that has got to be his worst!

So these would be my rankings for the night:

Elliot (Even though he was the worst tonight I don't think he should go home because he hasn't been consistently bad)

Disappointing show. I didn't really like any of the performances. Last week's show was much more enjoyable - guess working with Barry really did make a difference.

I seriously did not like Paula's comments to Mandisa, and I think Mandisa would not like them either. Completely contrary to what she just sang about.

Some were ok, no one was great. Sigh.

I[m another who did NOT enjoy tongihts show. I just couldn't believe how bad it was..but like someone else said I think this is a hard week to do because they will definately be compared to the original.

I don't get how the praise people (Chris) for sticking to what he "is" and then this week Simon says he needs to branch out and yada yada.

Kellie did pick the wrong song for her. It's a great song by Sara Evans. I think Sara has a lower tone than her in the first place. The other 2 thus far have been nothing to write home about either.

Anyone know who they kept flashing too in the audience when Kellie was up? Not her grandpa, but 2 women?

Debbie Gibson and Kristy Swanson--didn't look too thrilled did they?


I thought tonight was going to be great. Ugh wrong!

I liked Taylor. Loved the song. Loved the performance. I think it's great he didn't dance around and throw in all his "woos."

I liked Elliot too. I threw him quite a few votes to make up the lack of votes for others.

I understand what others mean by Chris sounding the same. I was really disappointed last week with the whole Live version thing. BUT I'm just too much of a rock chick not to love him. Aahh, the bald head, the guitars wailing, the flashing lights...it's right up my alley.

Everyone else--I could take or leave. I'm glad to see Kellie tone down the make up. She looked great....didn't sound that way though...

Wow, I was very bored and unimpressed tonight. The only 2 that I think did a good job was Elliot (hated the arrangement) and Katharine.

Chris was too hard rock - still love him though. I have to still give my props to Bucky too.

Bottom 3 for me tonight was Kellie, Ace and Lisa. I cant stand Paris so she can be in the bottom 3 in place of one of the others.
