American Idol Season 13 Official Thread

....that was kind of an "Ewwwwww" moment....I thought it was his daughter or something......

I thought so too. And,I also was thinking she was his daughter and then that would be creepy... Just think in was wicked inappropriate .

It was gross.... even my kid said he was a PERV :rolleyes2

The PTB are desparately trying to make the judges look like the Voice's and it's failing abysmally. The 3 people they have are good enough, they don't need all these orchestrated jokes sprinkled into the show. The show throw, the gummy bear and now the girl on the shoulders..??? Come on....

I thought it was his daughter at first, too because the girl looked too comfortable up there. It was definitely set up if nothing else. She looked like she had been riding his back forever! Nasty.:headache:

This was only one of the nausea inducing segments that made me turn off my set halfway through the show...

Placing a bunch of adoring girls around Sam was like seeing a bunch of puppies jumping on a scarecrow. SERIOUSLY???? The poor boy never acknowledged them, avoided all forms of eye contact and clodded thru Time After Time like he had the lyrics on a teleprompter.

Can someone say WASTED SAVE???

Can someone say JUMPED THE SHARK???? :headache::headache:

I can't say either of those.

I think I watch a different show from some of you.

I like Sam. I was thinking if he actually had to look at the screaming girls they surrounded him with he would have cracked up. That was stupid having him sing in that crowd..but other than that I am glad they saved him.

I've been enjoying all the little jokes and stuff they are doing..I think it is fun. The girl on the shoulders...my take was "child actress paid to do that" or friend of the his daughter and no big deal. Again, I thought it was funny when he came over with her on his shoulder and didn't see anything creepy or icky in it.

I really can not stand The Voice. I have tried to watch it and tried to like it and I just can't. Not even the hot hunky judges can make me like it.

Who was the other person who did the song from the crowd thing in a previous year?

I'm not a Voice fan either. I like the first round where they do the chair turning part but I don't like it after that.

....two of my favorite things about The Voice is the funny banter between the judges - especially Adam and Blake's " bromance", and the 'Steal'.....

I only watch the Voice during the blind auditions. After that, I just don't care.

Come on Nancy how many times have we agreed in the past, i dunno, TEN YEARS??? :lmao:

I don't hate Sam, I just don't like this "make him a hunk" crap. He is NOT a hunk, he's a nice wholesome boy.

As for the Voice, there is no one on AI that could hold a candle to the talent on that show. Like it or not, AI picked some real losers this year, and it truly breaks my heart because I really enjoy this thread every year. :crazy2: I loved seeing David last night but even he can't breathe life back into this show.

Their numbers are tanking, funny their biggest ratings were when we were having the most fun:

And all the antics in the world won't work if they can't pull people in with a passion for the contestants.

Maybe 2 or 3 times. LOL. I think last year we agreed so much it was getting downright scary. I do think that trying to make Sam a hunk is a bit over the top. He is just a nice kid..he is not going to be the "make me swoon" singer. He sure ain't no young Frank Sinatra. :lmao:

For The Voice I think one of my big dislikes, and where I get totally turned off, is when they do those competing against each other duets. I can never get past the first one.

I do wish that Idol wouldn't focus so much on what the PTB behind the scenes wants for the winner and go back to just picking the people with the most talent. This years show started out with lots of good reviews but the rushed through Hollywood week and the extremely rushed pick down to the final 13 turned off a lot of people. I know I did not like the whole "ok, you 5 are not even getting a chance to sing again so bye bye" thing they did. There was nothing wrong with voting off the bottom 3 for a few weeks and letting the viewers pick the final people.

All in all it started out good and then went downhill. I don't think this season is the worst though. I still think the Fantasia year was the worst season of them all. Season 9 was pretty bad too.

Totally agree. A.I. started out strong but started to tank for me when they didn't allow those 5 singers to sing.

There were quite a few of those singers who weren't allowed to sing that I preferred to those who were chosen, so I found it off putting as well.

I think the best years were those when the show picked about 30 finalists and allowed voting on those to choose the top 10.

I heard that a lot of singers really respect Harry Connick Jr.'s assessments, and that he's brought a lot more realism to the show. I heard him saying one week to a contestant "I noticed this week that you…." and the contestant said "Yes, I remembered what you said last week and I.." C'mon, when Ellen DeGeneris was a judge, did any of the contestants put any stock in her judging? I mean, I love Ellen, but I think she'd be the first to admit that she wasn't qualified to judge singing. I'm kind of hoping that this line-up of judges brings some believability back to the show.

Well, this is time number 4 that we agree on something...:lmao:

Loved the show till they eliminated MUCH better singers for the motley crue they have now. Had lots of potential till then. This is one of the two shows I watched from the beginning (HATE the auditions usually) so I lament about all the talent they let go for what actually made it to the stage. :sad2:

Of course I disagree about the Fantasia year :lmao: that was one of my faves! Agree about Season 9, I had to look it up because it literally was ERASED from my memory! Lee DeWyse...omg...:headache:

My second worse was Hee Haw season... ugh. Nothing will beat David's season, best EVER! I also loved the Taylor Hicks season, one of the best groups!

This will go down in history as MY WORSE. I repeat, MY worse, no one else's. I can even base this year on how slow this thread is going! By now we should've had three versions and we're still on our first!

Oh REALLY? I resemble that remark!

:rotfl2:

There's her buddy for the finale! :goodvibes Nice of him to keep her company. Man, she looks like a baby.

No Voice.

I'm losing my Cee Lo - :duck: Robin, are you the one who doesn't like him? But love me some Pharrell, way before Happy, somewhere around N.E.R.D. She Wants To Move. :goodvibes

I too didn't think the girl on Harry's shoulders moment was remotely creepy. :confused3

But I do agree that he's the type of man that needs constant attention. Exhausting. :lmao:

I think last year we

Exactly. :thumbsup2

And everything did seem rushed.

Yep.

I thought about all you Cookites this week. I used to lurk a bit during those years on this thread. And I tell you, I just didn't get it the fascination. Although his love for Raine Maida/Our Lady Peace was a plus but still was all :confused3 with you guys.

Well this week, I got it. :rotfl2: :thumbsup2 He was wonderful in his position. All night I kept thinking "boy I could ................... ;)". A little too transfixed on him. I now get the je ne sais quoi about the boy! :goodvibes
