whoever runs his FB fan page posted a video of after the show. it certainly wasn't the overly-dramatic crap that Jessica pulled the previous week. he was really calm and good-natured about everything.

I don't agree with that. There are many that have had great success without singing country

But if you look at the top 10 rankings by Parade Magazine at least 4 of the biggest successes are country stars.

Kelly Clarkson and Clay aren't country...they have crossed over for a song or 2 but they are more pop, Clay not even that specific. Country is quite popular tho , especially the more and more country artists who cross over to pop, then those fans may follow them back to country, getting to know more country artists, I think.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think Clay has ever done a country record..and Kelly has only done a few duets with some country singers but never her own.

Scotty and Lauren are both having some success...I see their videos on TV a lot. (no radio in my car right now so no idea if they get played a lot). Casey James is having some success and he wasn't a winner. Kellie Pickler has done well and we all know that Carrie is doing really well in her career.

Clay's name does sound bigtime like it would belong to a country star, but I never thought of that!

Who else is rooting for Clay on The Apprentice? I guess I should pay more attention to the official Apprentice thread to see who from here is over there .

I know Kelly did some country, but I'd definitely consider her pop. I think after Scotty and Lauren last year, they are going to avoid a country winner this year. They need to find someone that won't take away sales from their country idols.

However, I agree with MeanQueen, I really doubt they want another country winner 2 years in a row. That being said, tho, there were reports last year that Idol was heading toward a country version of Idol, maybe if they see AI tanking and if Skylar is bringing in a high percentage of country votes, I could see that happening. I wonder what the consistent vote count would be for the country artists vs. the traditional ones?

They wouldn't take a chance on losing their numbers like they did last year. The finale was the lowest rated ever. The results show DID show a rise in ratings but only because they had no DWTS competition that night. Fox has to keep their advertisers happy, that is WAY MORE important that anything they do for the "winners".

I find it ridiculous to compare success of different genres. If there are MORE people who like a certain genre, then there will be more people buying it. You can't compare hip hop to Jazz, a zillion tweens and teens will use all of their allowance to buy music but a 50 year old will go to a club to hear jazz but probably will never download it.

A successful Christian artist will never have the following of a rap star, but WITHIN his genre he could be a superstar. Same with ALL different types of music. And every year someone claims that someone has "disappeared" because they don't listen to the genre of music they subscribe to.

Pop, country and Hip hop rules for a reason. More people buy them. Strangely enough, in 2010 the top genre was rock, and AI doesn't have a real rock person this year. I guess Elise is the closest thing to rock they have.

AI uses some sort of "marketing" to make sure all of the genres for America are covered, sometimes they succeed but MOST of the time they don't. Unfortunately they only seem to understand pop and country, because they always seem to bring watered down representatives of the other genres.

I would agree that Colton has probably been offered a contract. We have heard that Josh was offered a deal several weeks ago, but had to turn it down if he wanted to continue on AI.
