....His rendition of September...eh..not so good. It was fine for one track on an album but when you are singing for your life up there, you just have to do better than that...

....I agree - that song is kinda upbeat, and the arrangement was too off.

I disagree. I think Piano Man was great. I also think the Skylar Grey song he did last week was great too. I'm still thinking about that performance. His greatness was in his subtlety.

His voice was not the caliber of Joshua or Jessica, there is no doubt about it. He was not meant to wail. But I think he was a very good singer. He also was an excellent musician and knew how to play to a camera. When you compare him with some of the other contestants, not just from a singing perspective, but as an all around performer there is no way he should have been the one to go home.

But even still, all his performances kind of blend together into one. And yes, we're big fans of his & wanted to see him in the finals. Same can be said for Phillip Phillips, IMO and the previously mentioned Adam Lambert. With all these guys, even when they're great, you never think, "Wow, where did that come from?!!" the way we did when Elise did Whole Lotta Love.

Being good all the time, plus having one signature style, can be a bit of a curse in a competition like this.

so I just wanted to add...my favorite moment of last nights show? When PP was being interviewed back stage, his comment about JLo:
smiling-"Does yo Daddy let you date?"
:rotfl: omg, loved it, loved him saying it, loved him blushing....I bet JLo wasn't acting when she was reaching to him like she would gobble him up! Cougar moment!

Now that Colton's gone, the NIGEL NOTES are set for next week:;)

JESSICA: Keep kissing up to her. Her managers paid us up front!

PHILIP: Keep the momentum up. Keep him at least till the final three. We need the girl vote.

JOSHUA: Keep giving him standing O's, we lost our entire African American audience with the Country fiasco last year!

SKYLAR: Keep her on!! People still like Scottie, Lauren and Carrie. Last I hear half of America was in the South!

ELISE: She's not a threat. String her along

HOLLIE: A THREAT to our Diva. If she's not voted off next week, you have permission to shoot her!

General: I WRITE YOUR PAYCHECKS. NO ONE WILL PAY YOU ELSEWHERE WHAT I PAY YOU HERE.

Have a good week-

Nigel

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: how painfully true!

Side note: Every time the kids get a wide-open "theme" as opposed to a very narrow one, the judges seem absolutely stunned that the performances are better than usual.

Really? You didn't see that coming? Letting them sing something they know & love vs. something they first heard 2 days ago should produce the same results? :confused3

I have not been here very much lately but thought I would pop in to let you all know that Phillip Phillips is from the town that I live in!!!

He graduated from the High school I work at. In fact the FOX station here is doing a big party (2nd one) for results show night this coming Thursday at our high school. He has a big fan base here.

That has us laughing too. My DD23 is in love with him and I can totally see why. He is such a cutie! Me I'm on the Phillip train now that they kicked off Colton (always liked those two the most in this competition w/Skylar a close third). It's funny because I started out the season liking Jessica and Joshua the most. I just connect so much more with Colton, Phillip and Skylar but honestly I do think this is a good season for talent. I've heard other people say differently on this thread and in conversation with friends/co-workers, but I really don't think there is a bad one in the bunch. Yes Jessica is annoying but girlfriend can sing. In AI past there always seems to be one person who gets in and keeps going and you have no idea why because the person can't sing. There isn't a person like that this year, imo anyway.

:thumbsup2

Have you ever met him? He seems super down to earth. My daughter wants to meet him, along with every other girl under the age of 25 (and probably a whole lot of "girls" considerably older :rotfl2: )!

I'm 25 and my best friend is 26, we want to meet him. :rotfl2:

omG I don't think I've ever heard a better analogy of what I feel about Colton.

Never bowled me over (well, maybe for a second during that STARE into the camera  ) but never made me want to mute the tv and run away.

Passion pushes loyalty, which is something the others have pulled out of their fanbase. Nothing fuels passion like an occasional trip to the stools or a judge giving them a hard time. Colton had neither. His fans must've thought he was safe. That is the death knell in AI.

Oh yeah..past seasons have shown that. I'm just trying to remember if David Cook <insert huge sigh here> was ever in the bottom 3.

Wow!!! Congratulation!!! pixiedust:

I literally cannot WAIT to be a grandmother. I told Michael to have a child JUST LIKE HIM that I can spoil rotten and send home to his wife and never have to worry about how to pay for the daycare. His days went by sooooo fast because I had to pinch pennies every single minute so I'm ready to just enjoy a little one!

What a blessing!:lovestruc

I can't wait to be a grandma too..but my oldest one never wants kids (and she is the one that should have a kid just like her so she can learn what it is to live with the drama queen of all times). The middle one wants kids but now needs to find the right guy and youngest is just way too young to even be thinking that way and at 19 she states that she just doesn't have time for all the drama that goes along with having a steady boyfriend.

I really want to be a M.O.B. more than a grandma. I am impatiently waiting for oldest DD to be engaged. She has been with this guy since she was 17, they have been living together since she was 20...she'll be 24 this year, time to put a ring on it! HE is willing, SHE is not.

She's lining up the next boy toy for when this guy Casper that she is hooked up now goes bye bye after she marries and divorces him.

I have not met him but the teachers here said that he was a great student. The closest I have come to meeting him is that my father in law had his mom as his secretary way back!!

Also he has a beautiful girlfriend!!!!! I went to school with his girlfriends Dad and Aunt. That is as close as I have come to fame!!!!!! Ha ha!!!!!
His girlfriend and her mom have flown in for the show several times.

Ha ha!!!!!! Leesburg is in S.W. GA. If you got on US 19 or HWY 82 and came south you would eventually run right into Leesburg!! Have you ever heard of Albany Ga?? Leesburg is just between Albany and Americus. Close to Plains where President Carter is from.

You mean ALL-BENNY? lol!!

Albany is one of my company's tv markets so I've been there. WALB is our affiliate there. We don't have anything in Leesburg, though. Too bad, I'd love to take a field trip to see his dad's pawn shop! :goodvibes
