Huh. I think that he is a terrible singer, and his personality is uber annoying. Tries too hard to be funny and it falls flat every time! No good as a singer OR comedian!:sad2:

And this is what is so great about Idol. It keeps us talking about it, but since tastes are so subjective they can keep someone on the show that is both hated and adored and keep their ratings sky high..Haley Reinhart anyone?

well, the powers that be needed a range of contestants to appeal to a range of ticket buyers for the tour. There were 4 teen girls in the running so you know one had to go...demographics..blonde Hollie vs blonde Shannon~no contest on that decision. Both have sung similar songs/similar styles..but Hollie powerhoused her way right over Shannon. You know Jessica is there for the long haul, and Skylar, well, they need a spunky one, a rocker type. Erika is kinda that way, but not in the teen demographic. Heejun, Elise, and Erika will be the next ones to go, Deandre's looks will keep him there, Skylar is a tough one, she may stay longer than expected. Phillip Phillips....while we know his style and he is entertaining, he may have to mix it up a bit so he is not so predictible. Wonder how he is going to deal with the TH makeover, lol...SO not his current style. Randy needs some of that intervention.

Great analysis, FINFAN, ITA.

You left out Joshua and Colton, though.. on purpose?

Guest Performers: Haley Reinhart and Lana Del Ray

I don't know one of these people and I wish I had never heard of the other. I know I said that I would stay nice this year but then AI goes and does something like this. I will have to DVR the results show next year so that I can selectively use FF to spare my senses.

Ryan must have a crush on Colton because he sure teases him a lot.

I don't know if he has a crush but I've noticed that every week Ryan has used the fake your going home/no your saved routine with Colton. If Colton ever gets sent home he won't know if it is real or not.

My thoughts EXACTLY. It doesn't surprise me that Colton is Ryan's pick to flirt with this year, he's cute.

I'm having a hard time getting into this season. Is it just me, or is it a snoozefest for anybody else? I like Colton's stage presence, he's the only one I find interesting.

Yes, we know Jessica can sing. Just give her the prize and get it over with.

Shannon should get into acting. More longevity career-wise. She already has a star-quality about her. Or maybe modeling, she's sooo tall!

I'm shocked that Jermaine is only 25. He looks at least 35, and always looked out of place with the other contestants. I knew something was "off" about him...I just figured he was a mama's boy. :rotfl:

Joshua is safe for a while, but he is going to need to be versatile...Colton, to me, middle of the pack, just like James Durbin was...I'd say top 5 but barely. I don't look forward to his song each week, not saying he isn't talented, but just too average/step above bar band- maybe? Only thing I remember of him each week is the hair and the (no offense) beady eyes. He just looks all scrunched up to me and I can't get past it.

Colton does NOTHING for me.

How cliche could him and his mohawk be?

OMG, without that big hideous thing, would he even have anybody's attention at all???

And, about the bleached streak... I am reminded of the line in "Catch Me If You Can"... "Hiding behind the stripes".

This isn't the 'Biggest, Stupidest, Hair' contest!

Lana Del Rey has the dubious distinction of having one of the worse critiqued performances EVER on Saturday Night Live!! They even parodied her on the show! http://idolator.com/6167192/lana-del-rey-snl-skit-performance
Even excellent performers sound like crap on AI's stage, I can't imagine why she's gonna try it again here! :confused3

I am surprised about a few of the contestant's ages. Elise looks MY age and sorry, there is no way the country girl is 17!!

I like Colton's confidence on stage but I find him utterly forgettable.

ITA, again! :thumbsup2

And I also prefer men who's thighs are bigger than my forearm! :lmao:

I don't know if Tommy H is the right guy for the job but they ALL need makeovers like yesterday!!! Too bad Jermaine won't be around to be told his white pants need to be burnt.. along with Erika's purple dress and Joshua's white jacket that he should've left on the floor. :scared:

JMHO, but if you're voting for Heejun, or anyone else for that matter, just so other singers you feel are "lower", will go home, you're playing in dangerous territory. If people assume others are voting for the "best" singers so they can try and use their vote to get rid of those they don't care for, then the "best" singers will go home. A/K/A, Daughtry finishing in 5th place. I'm quoting "best" because everyone has an opinion on who they feel is best.

If you really like Heejun (or anyone) and will buy his (her) songs and follow him (her) after Idol, then by all means, vote for him (her). Don't try and keep him (or her) around to force others out for it will surely backfire.

Idol may "only be a TV show" to you, but to these kids, it's a chance of a lifetime.

don't hold back now, tell us how you REALLY feel! :lmao:

I didn't say HeeJun was the only one I'm voting for. I am voting for everyone I like. Just like I always do. I have no delusion that HeeJun should win or will win, but I like him so I'm voting for him with my other favorites at least until we get to a point where somebody I like will have to go home.

FWIW, I haven't bought ANY Idol alums music aside from Daughtry and David Cook. So thanks for your warning/help, but I'll do whatever I like for whatever reason I like.

I hope PP sings "Matter of Trust"...or at least someone (who won't butcher it) does. It's my fave Billy Joel song...

didn't Chris Daughtry place fourth? and frankly, it was probably the best thing to happen to him.

honestly, AI is not really a "star" maker anymore (if it ever truly was--it's had a few success stories). people like to watch and some even vote, but most don't actually buy the music of the winner. if they did, then those winners would have crazy success. but they don't. so, everyone is free to vote for whoever they want for whatever reason they want, even if it's just because they like someone's personality. :confused3

i just don't buy that it's hurting someone else's chance. for what? their 15 minutes of fame?

i love to watch. i bought David Cook's and Blake Lewis' albums. i have a few songs by Kelly. but i have no illusions that AI is a star-maker. it's just fun to watch (and to hang out here and chat about it).

I doubt, Colton will make it, anywhere near top 5. He's pretty forgettable. It wouldn't surprise me, if he lasts more than 2-3 weeks...tops.

Yep, it's like Vegas on this thread. We place odds, bets, wait to see what happens, cut our losses and move on to next weeks bet, lol.

I think you are exactly right, AI is not a big star maker. It is a big money maker for the producers and maybe if someone is very lucky and talented, they will become famous (a la Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, and Kellie Clarkson) or at least make some more money than they would have because they were an Idol contestant.

I've bought Kelly's stuff, Carrie's (all of hers), David Cooks (both of course). I bought both Lauren and Scotty's from last year. I keep thinking I would get Daughtry's stuff but so far I haven't, same with Jordin Sparks cause I like her too. Heck I even bought a Clay Aiken's cd.

A few seasons' I voted for people but really knew I would never buy what they put out..a few seasons I didn't vote at all since I didn't really like any of them.
