American Idol: Season 11 OFFICIAL thread!

It's that time! The big two night premiere is coming up in just a shade under two weeks. January 18 and 19! I enjoyed X-Factor but I MISSED Idol 9and all my DIS Idol buddies!). I'm all excited for another season, and hoping the talent is there this year to rival the awesomeness of the David Cook season (still my favorite).

Eh, I guess I'm in. It's the dead of winter, so I have nothing else going on. Why not. I only really watch anymore because it helps me mark the passing of winter to spring. By the time a winner is crowned, we're about a week away from Memorial day!!

I would live to see a program that showcases real musicians who can write real songs and are judged on their own, original music. Because in the long run, those are the folks who last, who make music that matter. Idol doesn't foster that, I don't think and I'm getting a little jaded, unfortunately.

Especially....I'm with robin on this one.... since last year's Grand Ole Opry!

I'll be here. The X-Factor made me miss American Idol. I really didn't like all of the over produced action that surrounded the performers on the X-Factor even though I did like Josh Krajcik.

I tried, but I just could never could get into The Voice or The X Factor. I like how American Idol is relatively "simple" compared to the other shows. And one talent competition is enough for me.

After 10 years of watching, AI is pretty much "comfort TV" to me even though I hated the judging last season and wish Simon had never left. It's a habit, and I enjoy watching it "with" my Mom (over the phone). I usually keep up with the AI thread here, but don't always post a lot on it.

I really hated it without Simon too. I thought I would hate J-Lo but ended up hating Stephen Tyler instead. He is on my list of top 10 most annoying celebrities since he was a judge on that show.

I still watch though. Like the PP said, it's comfort TV.

I would love to see a talent competition like a "Battle of The Bands" with actual bands doing both covers and original songs.

Since their ratings are slipping MAYBE they'll find a way to keep everyone interested. I think Nigel's obsession with country took over the show. I hope they show more inclusion this year.

I'll be here of course. And I'm very happy since I just got back on days this week so no more working till 8:00 and not getting home until almost 8:30.

Last years final 2 are doing good in country. I see Scotty videos all the time and he gets played a lot on my local station.


I did get a surprise the one day I was watching videos...I saw a familiar face and couldn't figure out who it was...then it dawned on me it was Casey James doing country!

Yeah, count me in! Matter of fact, count my 3 year old in too. She called Scotty the winner from the first time she heard him sing. Smart kid, I know.

Anyway...I REALLY hope Steven Tyler has 1/2 as good a line as last years "Hellfire, save matches, *#(# a duck and see what hatches!"
