American Idol: Season 10 PART III

LOL, on her calling it Survivor. I still think it is sour grapes on Kara's part. If she was still a judge you can bet that wouldn't have been mentioned at all.


Sure the producers decide who goes through, the contestants sing for them first before they get to the judges. I'm guessing they have a huge input on who goes and who doesn't. That is the only reason I can think of that certain people have made it over the years.

Once they are getting voted on though I don't think it is fixed above them (producers and judges) thinking the voting public is stupid and can be manipulated.

It's always been a reality TV show and I never (and I hope most right along with me) never took it as more than that. If you won it's a good stepping stone but only true talent and good management is going to keep you in the spotlight. It gets peoples names out there but it's up to each one what to do once that happens.

It has always been a popularity contest and this year is no different.

I agree. The smart contestants use it as a platform. Make the most of what they are given and hope for the best.

i actually liked Kris Allen too. i bought the collection of his performances. however, i didn't vote for him (or anyone) that year.

i will say, having seen Adam's performances on youtube before AI, i didn't think they'd let him win. he wasn't squeaky-clean enough.

I never did vote for him either honestly This is actually the first season I have voted in since the David Cook season.

Shocking admission: Haley actually nailed her second song. She's the only one that took GaGa's advice and it was brilliant.

Snoozefest = Lauren.

Yeah, I know I'm about a week late chiming in, but had to put my two cents out there after watching it.

And now I'm done for the season (yes, I've announced that several times already, but once more for the heck of it). What a relief not to have to watch that weirdo with the freaky fingers (Scotty) on the microphone ever again.

Hey guys, I've been in and out of the hospital & haven't really cared about AI much for the last couple of weeks.

I'm really going to miss James.

I'm not really a fan of any of the 3 left. I'm hoping Lauren wins, but I'm not sure if I care enough to watch... I may do what Robin said and just ff thru most of it.

Hey maybe, AI is pimping Scotty for CMT's Hee Haw version of Idol?

Scotty really isn't all that and has a very limited range. Personally, his stage persona makes me cringe. Although, little girls and grandmas, south of the Mason-Dixon, vote for Scotty, like crazy. He may do well on CMT or Branson, but at this point, not very impressed. His advantage.. the is exposure from AI and don't know how long he can milk it.

A girl needs to win, this year. Although, James is my favorite, I believe, I called for a Lauren win.

LOTS of people are vocalizing their disdain here, not just me. If you don't like what I say about your boy, STOP COMING TO THE THREAD.

No one, like the pp who told Snappp to move on has the right or nerve to tell others what to do with their time. There are entire websites devoted to the disdain of American Idol, we do it VERY sweetly here, you'd pass out if you read some of the other boards.

No it's NOT a mic holding comp, it's also not a attitude competition or a boring standing in front of a mic comp, a screaming comp or a sniffling while in the bottom three comp, either. Everything these kids do are subject to scrutiny because they are in the public EYE. They'd better grow a backbone now or they'll never survive this dog eat dog world.

My son is a singer, also, and he's 18 years old. He's been doing this for 8 years and he knows the ups and downs of criticism, adoration and rejection. It's part of the process.

My girls pulled up a YouTube on the hospital internet yesterday of Scottys homecoming and my first thought was that he could easily go into the ministry. I could totally see a mix of country, CCM, and "oldies" and how he could have a very broad appeal to the evangelical set. Maybe its that I was so darned sick and ona bunch of drugs, but I could see it.

Lauren has raw talent but not the self esteem to back it up. She's such a beautiful girl, but I can tell she doesn't really believe that. I wonder if her cheer mom has always been on her about her weight. A few well chosen advisors and she could be a great success.

I can't discuss Haley. Talent, sure, pretty, absolutely, snotty as all get out, you bet. Not my cup of tea.

Totally agree! I miss my Wed/Thurs fun, though. Last year I felt like I lost a best friend when I dropped out, was hoping I wouldn't have to this year but may have to anyway.

I just hope NBC or CBS comes up with a knockout show to put up AGAINST Idol in their time slot. They need to be sent packing!

I respectfully disagree with you.

I don't see that happening. AI is making money hand over fist and I don't see any network beating Fox in the same time slot.

Music lovers will continue to watch even if it isn't their beloved style, just because they appreciate good music...... and people that don't have anyone doing their favorite genre will leave.

I said it before..... I'm loving this years cast and I don't really care who wins it. It doesn't really matter anyways. The top ten will all have recording contracts. Some will make money, some will barely survive.

After AI finishes, we can move on to Americas Got Talent !

I know I am in the minority here but I LOVED Kris Allen. From the first week that season I enjoyed his voice and his song choices more then the others, Danny Gokey was second that season for me. I could not stand Adam! He just screamed too much and his performances scared me I swear I still have nightmares due to his "Ring of Fire".

And I even brought Kris' first album and loved that! I thought it was a great album, kind of sad IMO that he didn't do that well.

I didn't like Adam on the show due to the excessive screaming he did. But I can listen to his album releases (don't have the album...).
