American Idol: Season 10 PART III

I didn't get off work tonight until 9 and by the time I got home it was 9:40 so I am watching Idol recorded right now. My favorite is Scotty. And Lady Gaga! OMG!!! I can enjoy some of her songs but she is out there. At least she has the guts to dress like that though!

best part of the show...the girl kinda comes across as a legend in her own mind.

See, now I would say that James thinks he's a legend in his own mind, but Hayley's response is more of a defeated attitude than anything else. There were pitch and note problems week in and week out by numerous contestants, but Hayley is the only one who is consistently criticized (and it's mainly for song choice). [Honestly, the same could have been said for Pia who also got slammed a bit for song choice a few times.]

What I want from this show is honest feedback from the judges. When the criticized Scotty two or three weeks ago, he came back with a pretty great performance during Carole King week.

These kids (and they are pretty much kids) need help knowing how to improve their musical sensibilities and simply saying that they're all great doesn't do a thing to make them better artists.

At this point, I really want to see James take it. I can appreciate Scotty, but I'm not a really country music person.

I want Lauren to win with either Haley or Scotty by her side. Prefer Haley but I know Scotty is VERY popular.

I wish James would leave next but I know he's popular too. :(

But going home tonight? Tough call but I'm thinking maybe Haley but wish it were James. I'm praying its NOT Lauren.

Go Lauren!! :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Not my favorite night of the season last night, think that might have been more due to songs that I did not know, but then again when Haley sang that Gaga song I didnt know last week I feel in love!

James - Wasn't feeling the first song too much, he's done much better. Second was better but still feel like he has had much better weeks. But, there is no doubt he can sing and he should be in the final.

Haley - First song was ok, probably was actually the worst song of the night but she can still sing but her voice is very bluesy. Second song was very good I thought, like I said she can definetly sing.

Scotty - First song...:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc Made me cry! He's only 17 which is amazing to think about when he is up there doing a song like that! Might have been his best of the season. Second one was far from his best because his best have been spectacular but it still wasn't bad. He has a stage presence which he showed with this and Gone last week. I keep comapring him to Kenny Chesney, my favorite performer, because he knows how to captivate an audience.

Lauren - I feel like Lauren has been inconsisten through the whole thing. There have been weeks where she has been AMAZING and then she will be average. Judges are right though, she is holding back a lot and you could hear that in her first song. I thought the first song started out great but the ending was just ok. Second song, same thing, beginning was amazing but end was horrible! I just don't know about her.

I would be fine with Haley leaving. I hope if the country vote gets split that they say goodbye to Lauren. I think she's too immature to be an entertainer on her own right now. She might be okay as a back up singer for a country star. Regardless of what happens to Scotty on this show, he will be a country star because he's got that voice. I'm thinking in the end, it will be James that wins it all because he's got the showmanship, but he should learn to reign in that awful screaming he feels he needs to do with every song.

This i agree with, she needs to grow up and find herself a bit more and gain some experience and lose some nerves before she can truly be amazing.

I would like anyone but James to be in the top three--he has got to go! I can't get to the mute button fast enough when its his turn to scream...oh I mean "sing"

So we have heard in 1000 of your 4031 posts. We get it, you dont like her ... move along.

EXCUSE ME??? I think you have me confused with someone else? Do not tell me to "move along".

I agree that James has enough *confidence* for all of them, but as the judges have said, he has been consistent week after week. Haley was not the onlyone criticized..Stefano, Jacob, Casey off the top of my head have had negative responses but they handled the crits with more maturiity and grace than Haley. The judges gave her honest feedback, like you asked for, and she was ticked off. I think Haley is consistenly questionable, and consistently typical. If she wants to have a chance to win, she better act her age , which is 21 and not give attitude when she doesn't get the praise her ego is looking for.

You guys ever go to itunes the day after to hear the studio version of the AI songs from the night before?? They are pretty awesome!!

What a difference sometimes from the performance the night before.

Can Haley go home tonight? Please, oh please, please, PLEASE?! Didn't enjoy either of her songs, or her attitude when the judges were speaking to her. I think she should have gone home long ago. I do not want her in the final.

Loved Lauren, more the first song than the second. Martina McBride is DH's favorite female singer, and even he said Lauren did great with that song.

Love Scotty, but didn't care too much for either of his songs last night.

Enjoyed both of James' performances. And I'm hoping for James, Lauren and Scotty in the final and would be happy with any of the three winning. All three will do well in their careers, and I will definitely buy CD's of Lauren and Scotty, not too sure about James' because of the screaming. I would buy his if he tones that down, or eliminates it altogether.

I really hate that they changed to Wednesday's/Thursday's since I can't watch the performances on Wednesday's.

Anyways, I couldn't stand Haley in the beginning of the season. And now I feel like she's hit or miss. I thought her first song was terrible. And yet I thought she was really good on her second song...same as last week. But her attitude after that first song totally turned me off. There was no need for her to talk back like that.

James was just meh on both of his songs. I think the reason people like him is because he's an entertainer. But his vocals just aren't strong. He is always super pitchy and I guess no one notices since he's always moving around and working the crowd. So I wasn't really impressed with either of his songs.

I loved Scotty and Lauren on their first songs! I'm not sure which of those was my favorite of the night. I thought they were both good on their second songs, but I preferred both of their first songs.

Bottom two tonight should definitely be Haley and James. Based on vocals, James should go home. But Haley could also go based on her attitude.

Based on performance alone, Scotty should go home. His performances had no difficulty and the other three really tackled vocally difficult songs well. I have no idea why they are allowing him to perform all these easy songs with no criticism because in the first weeks they pushed him about this. It's like the judges have given up getting Scotty to sing anything difficult. In past seasons, all the performers had to stretch. He just keeps doing Roger Miller over and over again. Dime a dozen in the country world but then that's what country fans like. You country fans are happy to let Scotty sit back and do the 2011 Hee Haw show, I hate it! Lauren is good, she's really working to improve and try bigger songs every week. If Scotty wins, at least I won't have to listen to him ever again!!

Based on just last night's performance, I think Scotty should go home, but we all know that isn't going to happen. I fear, sadly, that it may be Lauren.

Somehow, Haley managed to come into her own over the last three weeks. It annoys me. If she had just been as good as she has been in the past few weeks right from the start, I probably wouldn't detest her so much.

James...what more can I say. He rocks. He outperforms, out-entertains, outshines all of these other ammies. I would pay money to see him. The others...not a chance. James is fun to watch on stage and knows who he is and I love who he is.

Idol "judging" has always been manipulative, but this year's manipulations have been so blatant it's disrespectful not only to the contestants but to the audience. So tired of the way certain contestant's lack of vocal difficulty and lack of staying on key are ignored and they get praise because Nigel and Co have decided who they want in the finals.

Behind the scenes:
Haley Reinhart on the 'American Idol' judges' criticisms: 'I'm not going to crack'
by Adam B. Vary

Haley Reinhart has a message for Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez, the American Idol judges who have for two weeks running laid into her with more direct criticism than they have with any other contestant in weeks: “I’m not going to crack,” Haley told a group of reporters backstage after the Wednesday night performances. “As much as they might want me to, or try to [get me to], or whatever it is, I’m not going to. I think they know I can be very strong-willed and everything else, and that’s why they gave [the criticism] to me. I mean, they did tell me, ‘We know what’s in you so we do this to you because we [makes grunting noise] you can take it, and we want everything that’s inside of you come out.’ You know, I take that in stride. I realize it, accept it.”

When someone noted that Haley looked downright mad after Randy and Jennifer questioned her decision to sing Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song” as the song that inspires her, Haley didn’t hesitate to share her feelings. “Yeah, man, I mean, come on, everybody else gets good feedback,” she said, clearly a bit exasperated. “They really let me have it. They don’t hold back with me, never have and never will. Yeah, I got a little upset because that song is just downright inspiring and emotional, and it’s beautiful. So, no matter what, that [criticism] hit me to the heart. Got me a little bit. Hey, it’s a show. We’re doing what we can, and I’m staying strong here.”

Haley wasn’t the only one who was less than thrilled with the judges’ criticisms, either. “I wasn’t a happy camper about that,” said Lauren Alaina, who was seated with Haley and fellow contestants Scotty McCreery and James Durbin. “That made me a little ill. Because Haley” — she turned to Scotty and James — “I’m sorry guys, but Haley has the best voice on this show, and she gets the most criticism. It’s just, like, I deserve a lot more criticism than she does.”

At this point, Haley began to redden: “Oh wow. You’re very sweet.” Lauren wasn’t done, either. “I’m Haley’s number one fan,” she continued. “I listen to her iTunes songs over and over and over again.” Finally, Haley’d had enough, her face disappearing into her hands: “Stop! You’re making me blush! You are really cute, thank you. That was really, really, really sweet.”
