American Idol Season 10: Official Thread!!

This may have been mentioned here somewhere, but I can't keep up with everything on this thread, sorry. Anyway, have you noticed that they are showing far, far more good singers at this stage than in past years? I remember in the past not being able to stand too much of the auditions because it was just like a freak show and I'm more interested in seeing talented singers.

My theory is that this is due to the absence of Simon. The freaky people don't get the same creative feedback from these particular judges that they got from Simon.

I agree and I also think part of it is Randy doesn't have anyone to make fun of the people with.
he laughs at people still but did you notice Steven and Jennifer don't .
even steven, the other night when randy said someone was terrible and a joke steven said " hey hey hey" like he was saying don't say thing like that,
he thought the person was good but not idol. I can't remember the person's name.
anyway, I just think steven and jennifer are too nice and don't want to be mean like the others were at times.

Though I wonder if after 10 years of having the producers throw the bad singers at you, half of them probably plants for show, the new nice judges will end up as cynical as Randy. Since he used to actually be nice.

No, I missed that! What kind of looks did they give him??

they had a mixed look of a frown and surprise...kinda like, "did you just tell ME to back off?"
I am also wondering if since a lot that have gotten tickets have not been shown on tv, if it is because their try-out songs are not approved by the artist? I remember my guy Jason Castro..he did his own rendition of Crazy by Ray Lamontagne and they could not air it since Ray would not allow it (which was an absolute shame becasue it's very cool) anyway, just wondering :confused3

..which is probably a GOOD thing.

I'm sure that's part of it (along with the fact that there's no time to show all of them). And I remember Ray Lamontagne in an interview being a real jerk about American Idol. He was asked about Taylor Hicks singing "Trouble" and he was not very gracious about it at all. Which was really uncalled-for since that performance got his little tune heard by millions who never would have heard of him otherwise (he may not have noticed that he's not exactly a household name!) Sorry, but I hate when artists get on their high-horses over this show. Music business being what it is nowdays (not great), these artists should be thankful for any adverti$ing and expo$ure they can get. For better or worse, this is the biggest stage on TV.

Something funny I forgot to post....

When we were watching the first show of the season and they introduced Jennifer, my 9 year old shouted... "I know her! She's married to George Lopez!" :lmao: Made us laugh anyway.

Jackie Wilson from last night is being reported set to marry her boyfriend in June..

hmmmmmm, thats the girl who we thought the guy she kissed was her Dad, right? Well, until the kiss :rolleyes1 I wonder if June means she did pretty well and was not cut until then...or she is timing things around the tour...OR she's alwasy wanted to be the June bride of a May-September romance ;)

Just watched last night's show...the last girl...WOW!

Jumping in here kind of late--

I just wanted to say I wasn't sure I would watch this year because of not having Simon. I am with the rest of you who LOVE this year's judges! Simon who??

Steven Tyler is not at all like I thought he was. He earned my respect when he asked the one guy to bring in his girlfriend in the wheelchair who had been in the accident. He was so sweet with her, it seemed really genuine.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season! :thumbsup2

...hey, didja ever 'solve' your 'Seasoned Beef' discussion??? ;)
There was nothing to solve. It was clear-cut from the start: Abuse of process; plaintiff has no leg to stand on.

I'm sure that there's some AI connection, but I can't pick it out.
