American Idol Season 10: Official Thread!!

late to the game...

i was not surprised with most of the top 10. i was a little surprised Haley was in there though. and i do like Karen, but i don't like the toned-down, pageant-queen Karen. so, i hope she quits that soon.

of the wildcards, i was surprised that Jovany and Robbie were picked to sing again. i did agree with Stefano going through.

i thought, of the girls, that Kendra deserved to go through. she definitely did a better job both tonight and last night than the other two.

eta: i think that Brett and Lauren should've had an opportunity. Ashton was horrible tonight. girl, you are NOT Jennifer Hudson. and I wasn't impressed with Naima tonight either.

Egads! What a jacket Paul was wearing!

Paul's jacket looks like it could be one of Manuel's designs. Manuel has carried on the tradition of the designs by the legendary Nudie Cohn. These men were responsible for most of the rhinestone outfits worn by country western stars. I think Manuel was responsible for some of the famous clothing worn by Johnny Cash, Elvis and Hank Williams. If Paul is wearing one of Manual's jackets it would be like wearing a work of art. His clothing is treasured by many performers.

One of my favorite celebrity sitings was shopping for fabric at a local store while Manuel was also there shopping.

hmmm........well it was fun while it lasted, but i won't be watching the rest of this season. there isn't one person i really care that much about. Lauren's alright but not enough to keep me watching for the entire season.


unless somehow David Cook makes an appearance this season. because if that's the case, you know i'll be here at least on that night!!

Did anyone else notice the very cool reception the others gave Ashthon when she joined the top 10? While everyone else got hugs, i didn't see anyone even reach out to touch her.

The Top 10 was no surprise. Although, I picked Naima to be top 5 girls and Karen as the Wild Card. I couldn't make up my mind between Stefano and Robbie. Ashton was a surprise...at least for me. Still, don't know how I missed they were choosing 3 wild cards.

Anyways, going to be interesting and can't wait until next week.

Fired up the DVR...here's my take on tonight's eliminations:

SCOTTY vs. ROBBIE
In my opinion, no contest. Scotty all the way. Robbie just fell completely flat and Scotty just blew the roof off with his country shtick. And the guy in the top 10 is.......

SCOTTY! natch.


CLINT vs. JORDAN vs. JOVANY
Ugh...I bet it will be that jerk-wad Clint, but if I had to pick one of these three, it would be Jovany. Though none of them should go through. Grrrr....and the guy who makes it through is....

NOBODY! Wow. Good call America (and me!). none of them should go through.


LAUREN A vs. PIA
Wowie wow wow. They had better put both of these ladies through. They were easily the best of the night, and I will throw my remote through the tv if either gets booted! And the one going through is....

LAUREN! and PIA! yay America for gettin' it right again.


TATYNISA vs. JULIE
They both sounded like garbage so I don't care if they both go home (which they should), but I have a sinking suspicion that Tatynisa has enough backing at home to stuff her into the top 10 like Cinderella's ugly step-sisters cramming the glass slipper on...who's in?.......

Whew...NOBODY. Gotta say I am impressed so far. But it's a long show.


KENDRA vs. ASHTON. vs. KAREN
Ashton was easily the best of the group which were all lackluster but Kendra could sneak in too. Now Karen, while weak, may have snapped up the latino vote with her singing en espanol (which was beautiful, while her english singing was not). Who made it?...

CASEY vs. JACOB vs. TIM
Ooof. I love all three even though Tim was not good that night. Can't they have all my dudes go through?? No? Okay, we'll take Casey and Jacob please?...

JACOB! yay! what a nice guy and a nice voice. and CASEY! whew...America is on fire with the voting tonight!


NAIMA vs. THIA vs. LAUREN T
In my opinion it should be Thia and Lauren. Naima just rubs me the wrong way (Vegas lounge singer in the making). So, who's got the goods tonight?...

THIA! Yay again...now they'd better give Lauren a shot at the wild card spot. grrrr.


BRETT vs. PAUL
Oh come ON. Paul is clearly the superior singer (and dresser...love the jacket). Brett seems like a nice kid but he has no shot at winning or being competitive with the others who've made it through. So is it cute or quirky tonight?...

PAUL! woot woot!! Hot dang, cute it is!


HALEY vs. RACHEL
hmmm..tough call on this one, but I will go with Haley as the better of the two. Rachel is just too out there (like Brett). Neither girl knows a hting about age appropriate, so which one is it?....

HALEY! I am just hittin' on all cylinders tonight! Boo yah!


STEFANO vs. JAMES
This isn't even remotely close in my opinion. James is a natural, he's fun, he's unique. And the show needs a rocker. Stefano (despite his Matthew broderick look alike status) just falls flat.

The top 10 is pretty much how I envisioned it (except I would have subbed Lauren T for Karen). I eagerly await the judges picks. I fully expect to see Lauren and Clint chosen, but would like to see Tim and Ashton have another shot.

ASHTON: Glad she got another shot. Performing AND I AM TELLING YOU (good idea!). Much better than last night. Well done kiddo.

STEFANO: Meh, I don't think he needs another shot. I never cared for him. Here he does I NEED YOU NOW and while it is much better than last night I still feel like he'd just be a "seat-filler" in the top 13.

KENDRA: Nice. I like her and think she needs to try again too. Doing GEORGIA ON MY MIND (a big song). Her voice is very smokey and sultry, but ultimately I think she'd be a seat filler too. But wow what a last note!

JOVANY: Hmmm, he may get the eye-candy do-over but so be it. With his rendition of ANGEL (en espanol!) he is doing much better than last night. He does much better with power belting than with the soft stuff. Nice.

NAIMA: Grrr...this should've been Lauren T's spot so color me cheesed. With FOR ALL WE KNOW I stand by my assertion that she belongs sprawled across a piano in a smokey casino bar on the Vegas strip.

ROBBIE: At least it wasn't Clint or Brett. Aladdin gets a do over with SAYING SORRY SEEMS TO BE THE HARDEST WORD. He has a weird faux sexy thing he does with his voice that sounds very put on. Plus this song is super boring.



So who gets redeemed? ASHTON! STEFANO! NAIMA.

I could do without Naima.


My prediction is still a Lauren, Casey, James, Paul showdown. Goodnight all!

Adam Lambert just tweeted that he will be on next week's (3/10) elimination show singing his acoustic version of "Aftermath"

The judges could have fixed that!

She is probably sitting there thinking what the heck did I do wrong? They told me I was great last night. America didnt vote me in and then the judges who thought I was so great last night didnt even give me a wild card chance?

I feel really bad for her. Shoulda been her before Ashton or Naima and for that matter, Karen or Haley.

And as a previous poster said I did notice not a super warm reception when Ashton was put through from the other singers. Not surprised. She thinks she is all that and is probably not a very nice girl.

Woah what? How do you gather that? In the beginning she was describing how close to the other contestants she has grown and how much they all love each other and the other girls were all nodding in agreement.

Gotta agree here. Ashton annoys me and seems extraordinarily arrogant. Her mannerisms come across like she is some sort of a diva queen. Sorry hun, you're not there yet so be humble.

For the most part I was really happy with the top 13 picks. I felt so bad for all the singers waiting for the verdict. That type of pressure must be horrible. The only one that I'm sorry didn't make it was Brett. He seems like such a sweet kid. I hope he does well!

I knew Ashton was definitely a wild card pick when she was told she did not make the top 10. I find it hard to believe that not one African American woman was able to make the top 10. They really had to pick her or it would look bad. Her singing last night was not great, but I think she will have better performances in upcoming shows.
