No.
But, if a person outside of the age-range "wins," (s)he cannot accept (take advantage of)
the official American Idol "Prize" audition certificate.

Any age can audition, but you have to be 14 to be on the show (and you have to be older than that (16 maybe?) to get the Golden Ticket). They say you need to have proof of age if requested (my daughter was on the show, and made it to the finals, at age 14, but was not asked for proof of age - we brought her passport just in case).
