That just makes me sick!

Does your school offer a retest before making the kids go to Summer school? Ours does. I guess we are lucky.

You should take it to the school board. I can't imagine them not firing that idiot! But, your DS has still lost his summer either way.

My DS has been worried about taking this stupid test since day one of 3rd grade this year. I thought he was going to be physically sick the day testing started. But, he had an AMAZING teacher this year. She worked with the kids extra hard to prep them for the test. We were still worried because he struggles with reading. We were afraid that he would fail the math test because he couldn't read the problems. So - his wonderful teacher worked with him for months on "math words". She made sure he could read all the important words in the problems. And he scored a 4! That is the highest possible. I have NEVER seen him more happy, and it was all because of her hard work.

Some people are not meant to teach, and it sounds like this guy is one of them. He needs to understand how something like this can ruin a child's self esteem. A set-back of an entire year is very hard to overcome.

I know, a good teacher can make the difference, definitely!! The only class I EVER failed was geometry... just didn't get it. My second teacher taught me geometry NOT with numbers but with WORDS... which is how I learn! It made sense all of a sudden!! I got an A in that class!!

Don't worry, that school will HEAR from Gangsta Robin...

I don't think I've mentioned DC yet today so here it goes -- they pulled the "Hero" video from iTunes already!! I didn't think they'd yank those so fast.

I am trying to wrap my head around the business sense behind NOT allowing the AI performances to stay on iTunes longer. I suppose they will release a greatest hits CD at some point but there are dozens more performances that will NOT be on it. And I'm sure people's interest will be rekindled after seeing the tour. I just don't get it. I am just thankful that I downloaded all of DC's solo stuff off of there before they pulled it. I need to burn a CD of all of it now!

I looked into that too. But it is going to involve software that is beyond my scope or using capturing software where sound quality will be compromised.

Besides the finale performances, I only counted 4 songs that they only released the video and no audio version. Everything else either has a studio version or the audio lifted from the broadcast. So right now my "DCA" playlist has 17 songs on it. I'd like all 21 to be on there.

A little OFF TOPIC... but what else is new around here...

It's been IN THE NEWS about how many kids failed the standardized test for math here in Georgia...40%.... and my honor student kid was one...

Mike has struggled with math all of his life. After a round of Kumon and Sylvan he was FINALLY catching up.

This year he has an IDIOT of a math teacher, a wimpy creep that seemed like he was afraid of the kids.

I had two meetings with him and he practically hid under the table while talking to me... ... I know.. all 4 foot eleven of me is SOO SCARY!!

The test is brand new and very challenging. The teacher convinced me that Mike and the others will ACE it, because he was going to prepare them thoroughly.

Well, Mike takes the test and fails it. They had a bunch of kids come to the cafeteria and they broke the news to them. Michael said honor, accelerated and special ed kids were all in the room...some kids broke down crying.

They were told they were to go to Summer School and take the test again or THEY WOULD NOT BE GOING TO HIGH SCHOOL.

Way to destroy a summer...

Today was the first day of summer school. My son said in his class every single kid who had this teacher FAILED .. except ONE. So, 40% of the state failed but 99% of THIS teacher's kids failed... ..what the...

Mike said that the subject matter they learned today he had NEVER seen. One of the kids stood up and asked "Can we get this man FIRED?"

I am literally LIVID. I could've understood the 40% but this I cannot deal with. All the work I put into giving my son back his confidence flew out of the window with one stupid test...

Oh, and did I mention that this is the SECOND ranked middle school in the district??? Second only to a specialized charter school. People, including myself, MOVE into this area because of the schools and gladly spend half a mill on a home to get their kids this kind of education without doling out private school money. The avg math score in 2007 was 84.80... I cannot IMAGINE what it is now!!!

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest... and if I posted it on the CB I'd hear something that'll make me KILL SOMEBODY.... don't let me go there...

In the 7th grade I failed my math class. At summer school there were two math classes and our teacher said every single student in his other class had my teacher. How pathetic!

It was so ridiculous that I had to comment. And I just have to remind myself that when I have kids...I will teach them what I believe is right (and what is right is to NOT call people fat even if they happen to be overweight.)

I think DC must FINALLY be on vacation. I didn't see anything listed on ricky.org and my weekly TV Barn e-mail didn't have him listed as a guest on any of the talk shows that they cover.

So I'm bored and not tired...and looking through this barbie book I have. (I played with barbies as a child and now I collect them.) Anyway...this book shows all the barbies/kens/etc. up until the mid-90's. It's fun to see all of my old dolls.

As I was looking through...I saw Jazzie. I'm sure no one is familiar with barbie. Anyway...she had a little sister, Skipper. She also had a cousin named Francie. And Francie had a friend named Jazzie.

And Jazzie looks like Jennifer Aniston. It's creepy. This is the best photo of her I could find.

I've been doing that lately. When I get caught up in a thread that stresses me out, I unsubscribe then avoid the front page of the CB for a bit. I've learned to hit the back button and just not post a lot more.

Cook's MySpace page has not sent out any new bulletins on appearances. Though it wasn't up to date on all of the ones he had last week. It never mentioned Best Week Ever! Which was great.
