Is this an American Idol thread???

If so I just want to say YEAH Jason Castro :yay:

It is, but we tend to get off topic. Easily. We're the ADD Idol chatters. I'm actually hoping the rumor about Castro playing drums on the tour is true. I'd love to see him where he's most happy... beating the bongos!!! :hippie:

I've been lurking here all along but never posted. I watched the replay of Larry King last night and then promptly fell asleep. I then dreamed about hanging out in a bar with all the AI contestants (no idea how Archie got in a bar). When my alarm went off, I hit snooze and thought "One more drink". When I finally got my act together and got up, I couldn't help but chuckle. My husband thinks I am losing it.

Join the club, we've all lost it. Especially Robin, Kimmar, Quest, Honeybee, DDan... and anyone else who has more posts than me in this thread.

I want you to say that when YOUR siggie is missing!! :lmao: Mine was gone for MONTHS!! :scared:

I kinda LIKE mine now..... holding on to it....;) ....winking MJ makes my day!

Yeah. If you lost the siggie again, Winking MJ would have to become your avatar until you got the sig back.....

A little OFF TOPIC... but what else is new around here...

It's been IN THE NEWS about how many kids failed the standardized test for math here in Georgia...40%.... and my honor student kid was one...:furious:

Mike has struggled with math all of his life. After a round of Kumon and Sylvan he was FINALLY catching up.

This year he has an IDIOT of a math teacher, a wimpy creep that seemed like he was afraid of the kids.

I had two meetings with him and he practically hid under the table while talking to me... ... I know.. all 4 foot eleven of me is SOO SCARY!!

The test is brand new and very challenging. The teacher convinced me that Mike and the others will ACE it, because he was going to prepare them thoroughly.

Well, Mike takes the test and fails it. They had a bunch of kids come to the cafeteria and they broke the news to them. Michael said honor, accelerated and special ed kids were all in the room...some kids broke down crying.

They were told they were to go to Summer School and take the test again or THEY WOULD NOT BE GOING TO HIGH SCHOOL. :faint:

Way to destroy a summer... :sad2:

Today was the first day of summer school. My son said in his class every single kid who had this teacher FAILED .. except ONE. So, 40% of the state failed but 99% of THIS teacher's kids failed... ..what the...

Mike said that the subject matter they learned today he had NEVER seen. One of the kids stood up and asked "Can we get this man FIRED?"

I am literally LIVID. I could've understood the 40% but this I cannot deal with. All the work I put into giving my son back his confidence flew out of the window with one stupid test...:badpc:

Oh, and did I mention that this is the SECOND ranked middle school in the district??? Second only to a specialized charter school. People, including myself, MOVE into this area because of the schools and gladly spend half a mill on a home to get their kids this kind of education without doling out private school money. The avg math score in 2007 was 84.80... I cannot IMAGINE what it is now!!!

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest... and if I posted it on the CB I'd hear something that'll make me KILL SOMEBODY.... don't let me go there... :furious:

VENT OVER!!

Something needs to be done about that idiot of a teacher!! He shouldn't be allowed to teach if he can't get the kids to learn math. It's bad enough when all they do is teach what's gonna be on those tests.... but not teach at all.... DEPLORABLE!

:furious:

I hope this doesn't kill his confidence level. Tell him it's only one dumbbutt teacher and he gets to move on after summer school. The only year I had to do summer school was due to a dumbbutt English teacher I couldn't stand. Only time I flunked a course that wasn't Algebra II.... Didn't have to redo that one as I had the requisite maths already.

Kind of unrelated....

But when I was in high school, we had this crazy spanish teacher. Everyone was doing pretty badly in the class (with the exception of a few people.) A few examples of her craziness....

1. If you got in trouble for something (even something small like saying something to a friend) she'd put you in a desk on the far side of the room and then she wouldn't acknowledge you for the rest of the day. If you had a question, she wouldn't answer it.

2. She used to say stuff like, (she had a thick accent because she was from venezula or somwhere) "Be quiet or I will get my gun out of my bag and kill you. You will die and go to hell." We responded with "you have a gun in your bag? I don't think you are supposed to have guns at school."

3. She also told a kid she'd cut off his head and put it in the trash can.

4. For our final exam...she put a bunch of material on it that we'd never even seen before. I think I got a 20% on it or something. I ended up with an F on my report card (as did most kids in my class.)

Needless to say...us students and our parents got her fired. And they changed our report card grades.

What you did: :worship: :thumbsup2 ::yes::

What teacher did: despicable.

Result of actions: priceless

I've been going to the community board way too much lately. I think it's because our little thread here isn't as active anymore.

I've gotten wrapped up in a few threads...currently one about men in women's dressing rooms...haha.

Save me!!!

As Shaggy would say, "ZOIKS!!!" :scared1:

I only look at ones that seem safe. If it looks like it's a flame war, I retreat.

I don't know. I have a blog. I post a LOT there. I mean, I do like to share updates here about our house and whatnot. But I get way more in depth in my blog. I don't think anyone reads it...but it's still fun to write in...haha. The hubby and I have also kept a separate blog about our house.

It's like I have a Livejournal but rarely post in it... Since I don't check it worth a darn....

I need YOU in my son's class... :rotfl:

Don't worry, the piranha called Michael's Mom will be taking care of this....

RUN FOR THE HILLS here comes MICHAEL'S MOM... the former GANG leader!!!

:scared1:

So that was you that had to leave early. ;)
Things really got interesting after you left. Robin and I tied Kim C. and MJ's wife up in the bathroom, then we had tequila shots with DC and MJ. Later, we went back to Robin's place and listened to a few tunes..... :music: on their ipods. :lmao:

That just makes me sick!

Does your school offer a retest before making the kids go to Summer school? Ours does. I guess we are lucky.

You should take it to the school board. I can't imagine them not firing that idiot! But, your DS has still lost his summer either way. :worried:

My DS has been worried about taking this stupid test since day one of 3rd grade this year. I thought he was going to be physically sick the day testing started. But, he had an AMAZING teacher this year. She worked with the kids extra hard to prep them for the test. We were still worried because he struggles with reading. We were afraid that he would fail the math test because he couldn't read the problems. So - his wonderful teacher worked with him for months on "math words". She made sure he could read all the important words in the problems. And he scored a 4! That is the highest possible. I have NEVER seen him more happy, and it was all because of her hard work.

Some people are not meant to teach, and it sounds like this guy is one of them. He needs to understand how something like this can ruin a child's self esteem. A set-back of an entire year is very hard to overcome.

Go get him, Gangsta Robin! :furious:
