The wall color is "crisp khaki." It's a nice light tan kind of shade. Very neutral. We'll probably paint the back wall (the one where the sliding door is) a different color for an accent wall.

The flooring is just a light-ish colored vinyl. It was the "included" flooring choice. In a couple years we want to put in laminate flooring that looks like wood.

The countertops are formica (I actually prefer them to solid surface counters.) The color is called "butterum granite." It should hopefully be in soon so I'll post a picture once it is.

I'm really excited about the kitchen. But I'm stressed because currently our backyard is giving us trouble.

What kind of yard problems are yall having?

Are you haveing to put a septic tank down or do yall have city sewage?

I hate yard work....hate it hate it hate it....My wife loves to be in the yard...I hate it....Did I mention I hate yard work....we have a pretty good agreement...she rides the lawn mower...I keep the house clean...I am a bit OCD so I like a clean house, cleaned my way...My toilet has to be cleaned everyday..vacuum every other day, dust every weekend, sweep and mop every other day..It may be just me I guess...funny thing is I will let the grass grow shoulder high....weird I know...only house work she does is clothes...I also do all the cooking....maybe why I am gaining weight and she and the boys are so skinny...they dont eat my cooking...LOL...

anyway I know yall are excited about the house and keep posting pics of the progress...

OH I read earlier on this thread about work at home moms....My wife is actually 80% quitting her job...She has enrolled into the local community college and is gonna start classes for Medical Transcription this fall...She wants to work at home too...she works in a Pharmacy now so she has some medical terminology background there dealing with doctors, insurance etc...So we will see how it works out...My sis does Medical Transcription from home and does okay with it...She cant do any physical work cause she is disabled...she was a nurse but got hurt catching a overweight patient falling out the bed and hurt her back...she has had 3 or 4 surgeries...so she has helped my wife a bit...I am trying to get my wife to go part time until she finishes classes and get going into the Medical Transcription...I dont know what she will do...its her choice, I support her no matter what she decides

My wife is hoping she can work while I am sleeping when I get home after nightshift and while boys are at school....she works for a paycheck only as my job has such great benifits and retirement...so if she quits it wont hurt us too much....we wont be able to play as much, but thats ok I guess

We have city sewage, thankfully. My parents live just outside city limits and they have a septic tank. Kind of a hassle.

Basically our yard has ended up way more sloped than we planned. In order to meet up with the lot behind us, our backyard is essentially a hill. And we aren't happy about it. At this point, I don't think there's much our builders will do for us. We'll hopefully have a builders meeting soon but I doubt anything will come of it.

I'm pretty sure next spring we'll have to do some major work to get the yard the way we want it. It's going to cost a lot more than we orginally planned (since we originally only thought we'd need to put in the patio we want. We didn't know we'd need to put a patio and a retaining wall, and then flatten out the rest of the yard.)

It's nice that you support whatever your wife decides.

Right now I'm not working. I haven't worked since last September. I really enjoy staying home. But after we get settled in the new house, I feel like I should probably get a job. Starting a job freaks me out though. I have so many anxiety issues so I don't know how it's going to go. I hope I can find something though. I'd like to be able to go on a few more trips in the coming years.

Thats why i love the country...I dont have to worry with neighbors....LOL...Actually I live on 2 acres but i do have neighbors with barking dogs...that drives me crazy cause no matter when i want to slepp they want to bark...I like dogs but man that drives me crazy...If my sons dog barks, and thats a big IF I do everything I can to shut him up...I dont mind a dog barking cause it sees somehting or whatever...but these dogs do mindless barking hours at a time...WOOF............WOOF........WOOF............WOOF.........WOOF......then another starts, then another...AAAGHHHH....

Our last place was 34 acres and that was great....actually we had 1 acre but my parents had the farm on the other 33 years ago....so nobody lived there aadn nothing was around except a church across the street...it was great...only real noise we got there was the guy who cut the yard at the church liked to sing loudly while he was cutting...it was kinda funny....

You feel like you need to work? what does hubby think you should do? I am sure he supports any decision you make too...

We had to cancel or disney plans for Sept cause of my wifes dad so we are planning a quick 3 day trip to Gatlinburg now and I think gonna retry Disney in Dec....Hopefully her dad will be at a point we can leave for a longer period of time by then....fingers crossed

Also we now have the new HArd Rock Park in Myrtle Beach we can go to and Paramounts Carowinds is only 3 hours away...they are neither Disney but the kids will enjoy them...

So we went and saw the new Indiana Jones movie this weekend and let me say it was very good....The plot wasnt as good as the 1st 3 but the special effects and action were much better...Also Shia Lebeauf was a great compliment to Harrison Ford, who by the way looks great for his age...not sure what that is but its older than I....

GOOGLE

almost 66...WOW...I hope I am alive at 66 much less looking like that....:rotfl2:

I am still not sold on the plot and dont wanna discuss it as not to ruin it for anyone else but it kept my intrest for the 2 hours....well worth seeing and should be seen in the theatre if possible for the special effects and great sound effects

So my son made all-star for the 3rd year in a row, only 3 years he was eligible...he is 11 playing in the 11-12 age group and was the 3rd player selected...YEAH....last year he was 4th and the year before that 2nd...He was unanimous 1st ballot every year except last year where he was 1st pick on 2nd ballot but I think the coach on one of the out of town teams wasnt quite sure of his name...just my opinion...:lmao:

I am proud of him...he is the best hitter on the team and the starting catcher, as a lefty and the best 1st baseman in the league....not sure where he will play in All-stars, 1st last year and catcher the 2 years before that...also he has been the most consistent pitcher lately, not the strongest arm but great delivery and movement to his pitch...He loes to play and thats what I like to see....

anyway wanted to brag for a moment...

Looks like he will be playing 12U AAU this fall....Ahh the popular athlete....well it helps....:lmao:

On another note....as I have mentioned before my son has had the same girlfriend for 3 years now...since the summer before 3rd grade...

anyway...My son brings a note home from his art teacher...It was a generic letter sent home to most of the calls...talking about how this class has been rude and disruptive and havent been getting there projects done on time....Well my sone was not happy he got one sent home...He told me his projects were done all on time and that he ws not being disruptive...the teacher was not very specific so I am not too sure how to handle it...the note has to be signed and returned by Thurs or he will be sent to the Principle...What I am getting at is we get a call from his girlfriends mom and she told us that she come home crying cause Dustin got in trouble for no reason and that he was not being disruptive or anything and that she was very mad at that teacher...It kinda goes with my sons story too...Now I know its his girlfriend and she is gonna stick by him...blah blah blah....but I dont know what to do...I dont wanna punish him if its the truth and I have ne reason to think they lied but how do I not believe a teacher...My wife says sign and send it back in there is only 6 days of school left....I dont wanna sign till I get more explanation on what happened as this will be his art teacher for the next 3 years...So I dont know...

I asked my son if the teacher has ever asked him to be quiet in class before and he say yes a couple times...I told him that is most likely why he got a letter...He says they are the biggest art class...So I explained to him that she is only one teacher and if the class was overly loud anyone she has asked to be quiet in the past would most likely get a letter because she cant see everyone at once....I told thats why behavior is so important teachers remember how behaved a student was no matter what there grades are...

The letter was so generic and his girlfriend said only 5 girls didnt get a letter sent home and they were the 5 that help her out all the time and she was one of them...I just cant punish him without more facts...Is that wrong on my part or should i support that teacher no questions asked...

Any advice?? :confused3

sorry so long too...I am bored at work....:rotfl2:

Anyone watching the Mike and Juliet show? DC look tired. I imagine going from the West Coast to the East Coast and all the press has to take its toll.

The handlers are "dialing back" the KC thing.
He's singing Time of My Life. I'm starting to like it, I guess.

David - get Juliet's number before you leave. :rotfl:

I love the kitchen and the wall color. We repainted our kitchen and family room just a little bit darker last year but will probably go closer to what you have for the rest of the lower floor.

When you replace the floor, if you can, go with hardwood. In the long run, it will hold up better but it is more expensive initially. We built our house 15 years ago so things are starting to "go". In the next year or two, I hope to redo our kitchen but I'm not sure it will happen since I'll have 2 in college. :scared1:

If you can survive building a house, you can survive anything. :thumbsup2

Does it slope down or up from the house? Our yard backs up to a hill and nearly half of our already small back yard was the start of the hill. So we dug it out and put in a retaining wall.

Let's talk rock pants for a minute here.

My wife won't let me wear my rock pants around her family or out in public. I think they look rad. There are a few pairs that I can still button up and several more that I hope to be able to fit into again some day. It takes a little bit of jumping and adjusting to get into them but I still think I look rad.

Who agrees with me? Who agrees with the wife?
Try this trick and you'll be rockin' those rock pants again.....
Take a rubberband, loop one end around the button, stick the other end thru the button hole, and loop it around the button too. Now they will fit without actually buttoning them. :thumbsup2
(This worked GREAT when I was pregnant. :lmao: ):rotfl2:
