American Horror Story - Season 6, Anyone?

This season is a hot mess. I think it had potential but after seeing the latest episode I just don't know if I can watch anymore. The whole Shelby thing, sorry I don't buy that she would do something like that at all. There really isn't a story anymore just a bunch of over the top slashing and gore.
I was really hoping for something with more substance and less shock value like the first season.

I think this is part of what has been "off" for me this season. I feel like they did some character development the first 5 episodes, showed us the house of horrors, and now are undoing all the development, and handing us the same package in a different wrapping. The magic of the first season was intrigue. The second season had some. I'll admit this season had it with the promise of the "twist". But watching a live version of the reenactments we already saw from the angle of a cell phone has quickly eroded that intrigue. I'm going to finish it out, as it still is better than Coven and leagues better than Hotel.

I'm glad that most of us can agree that we're disappointed in this season. I feel like everyone else I talk to LOVES this season...not to mention other message boards I read and Twitter. But like I said, I did enjoy most of this last episode so hopefully we'll at least be satisfied with how they tie things up.

I'd read that Matt was going back because he was in love with the Supreme, so I was kinda disappointed when Shelby did what she did. Would have rather seen that goofy story play out over the cannibal family's!

Perfect description of what went wrong this season!

I must be in the minority- I have liked this season a lot! Seems like more the tone of Murder House and Asylum, which were the best seasons IMO.

I really thought Matt was going to be the lone survivor (I knew he was still under the spell of the Woods Witch). Didn't see his death coming. Then, I figured Agnes would survive- wrong again. At this point, I'm not at all sure who will make it out alive.

Looking at other sites, you are definitely in the majority. Most people seem to really be enjoying it. I agree the tone has shifted towards the earlier seasons.

I rewatched last week's episode again last night with DW. It seems like such a mess for some reason. DW actually laughed during it. Said it looks so fake and over the top. I have to agree. I still want to see the next episode. Like I've said, that's the first time in the last three seasons I can say that.

Agree with your wife. And agree with you that this is the first time in three seasons I can say I'm enjoying the episodes. For me, Hotel was the worst, followed closely by Asylum (the alien thing was too far fetched and off story line). Not sure how I feel about Carnival -- but I do miss Jessica Lange. If we lose Kathy Bates, it may not be worth watching anymore. I did not see her death coming at all BTW -- real shocker.

What did you all think of last night? I was bored. At one point I thought it was almost over, and when I checked the clock it was only 10:30pm. I guess it was just too much of the cannibal family for me...ugh. The best part was when Lee finally admitted that she'd killed her ex, and then the end when we see Wes Bentley's character at the door. Which I guess means that some of the actors that they'd set up were still playing their roles and didn't know that Sidney and the crew were dead? Then what about the previews for next week? They left me a bit confused.

I'm a little confused about something. I didn't watch last night yet, but all this footage is supposed to be "found footage", right? So who is filming all the stuff with the cannibals?

I had the same thought. Are they actors so they set them up with cameras? Or are they the real thing and they still set them up with cameras? I don't know.

I hope they're not actors -- because didn't they already start carving up Lee?

They did, so I thought they were the real thing. But then when that other actor (Wes Bentley) came back at the end it confused me. At this point I don't know what's "real" and what's set up. But I guess that's what they're going for.

Time for me to check out a few TV message boards to see if I can figure things out!

Let us know. Because if the "actors" ended up that much into it that they started hurting people, then it's really crazy!

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's ridiculous that we're supposed to believe that all of these people make sure their cellphones are recording everything in spite of all the unimaginable horrors they are facing. I dunno, maybe I'm just not as attached to my phone or obsessed with documenting my entire life like many people are today, but making sure my camera was still running throughout all of this would be the LAST thing on my mind.

I didn't think it could get worse from last week but I was wrong. I don't think I can watch anymore, its so bad.

Oh the last straw for me was when she actually held her cellphone to record her while she was digging in her luggage looking for meds! Seriously!?! The whole camera thing has gotten so ridiculous. There are angles that don't even make sense. Even if they stationed cameras everywhere, they wouldn't have angles from the floor looking up, etc. They sure must have had a huge budget to afford cameras in all those locations -- including the home of cannibals? Who brokered this deal?

I thought the last episode was abysmal. The week before was chaotic and ridiculous, but the last episode even beat that. What a mess. So I betcha the only person that survives is the guy that showed up at the end LOL.

This week's episode was a bit too "torture porn" for my taste. I halfway watched out of the side of my eyes for much of the episode. The cannibal family was just a bit too much for me. Also, I have a major tooth loss/pulling phobia, so that part really squicked me out.

Shelby and ActorMatt are both gone- I thought she might be the final survivor. Now, I'm thinking it will be ActorShelby (Amanda? Olivia? I don't remember her name).

Ok.....they took what was working for me in the first half and...totally ruined it. Come on. The final twist is the trial of Lee? They chose to center the last third of the season on the polks rather than the ghosts or other creepy components. So many plot holes for me. A navy seal gets snuck up on and killed by one of the Polks? Come on. They lost all the creepiness factor. All the intrigue. I would have rather have watched an entire season of the reenactment. Still better than hotel. But it ended up way farther away from season 1. I'm going to have to accept that that magic will never be recreated.

I think he was an actor who was recreating that part of the pig man. But I think the pig man that has killed everyone was the real one coming back.

I fell asleep about 20 minutes in and at this point, I've spoiled myself. Is it even worth watching this episode?

Even though I know the outcome from a PP, I'm going to keep watching to the end, but I think they may have jumped the shark already!
