This may seem stupid, but when I ask my husband he totally does not get it.

I ordered a Just Like Me AG for my daughter for Christmas. As you can seen in my signature, she has light brown/dark blonde hair, brown eyes and fair skin. The one I ordered has brown hair with highlights, brown eyes and medium skin. When I got it the skin and hair look really dark. The more I think about it the more I don't like it. I am thinking of exchanging for the one that has honey blonde hair, hazel eyes and fair skin. Am I crazy? It's just a lot of money for a doll and I want it to be perfect. Do you think it's better to match the skin or the eyes? Neither hair is a perfect match. I am probably thinking about it too much, but I wanted opinions before I try to send it back.

Steph

I would see if you can return it for the doll with light brown hair and brown hair, fair skin

That's actually the one I ordered and it's skin is "medium" which just looks really dark compared to how fair we are. Ugh! This is the one I was considering:

and this is the child:

I am really crazy to get this worked up about a doll, but I can't find one that seems "just like her." Maybe I should call and complain, lol!

You may also want to look at Emily. My DD has her and she looks alot like your DD. It doens't have to be a just like me doll to look just like her.

Also maybe Nellie or Kit.

DD has brown hair, fair skin, and dark brown eyes. She has an AG just like me doll and that doll has blonde hair and blue eyes!LOL She just loved that doll and didn't care if it looked like her or not. The doll had layers in her hair and has earings and DD just loved it! She has Samantha too and that looks so much like her so I had no problem with getting her a JLM doll that looks nothing like her. Maybe you should just have her look online and casually ask which doll she likes. The historical dolls are so pretty too. If you really want one that looks exactly like her then how about the MyTwin dolls? Otherwise I would choose the first one you are considering, not the one you already ordered. BTW, they have really good customer service and you should have no problem exchanging it. Hey, have you looked at the Bitty Baby twins? They have one brown hair, brown eyed baby that is cute and she could get 2 dolls for the price of 1!!!

DD has the Bitty Twins, a Bitty Baby, a Just like me doll, 2 girl of the years(Nicki and Jess) Samantha(historical character). For Xmas my dad bought her Julie and I will get her Ivy(the new historical characters) My point is there are so many to choose from and I'm sure your DD will love any AG doll she gets. DD is 9 and she plays with them all and brings them out with us. She takes a different one on every trip we take, even WDW!! Don't fret too much over which doll you get her. I'm sure it will be the first of many! Those dolls are addicting!!LOL

Ack! No, this is the only one she will be getting ever! LOL, I don't know why I am being so silly. She doesn't really play with baby dolls but those bitty babies are cute! Ok, I just asked her and she likes the one you suggested so I am going to call them Monday and ask for an exchange. Thanks so much for your responses!

Just looked on the website (can't figure out how to paste a pic, though!), and there is one with blonde hair, fair skin, and brown eyes--I think it might have freckles as well. My dd is 10, and she still enjoys her AG dolls (Nellie, who is just adorable, and a "just like me" with brown highlighted hair, blue eyes and freckles like dd).

My experience with AG's customer service has been great. Maybe they can steer you towards a doll that looks more like your DD. They seem to really want to help their customers.

We are ordering one for my dd this year and going to the AG Bistro in Atlanta. I think it is a lot of money and I would def get what you want for your daughter. I am sure like pp said it will be hassle free.

I ordered this one for my dd.

The hair looks more red than I thought it would, but overall I'm very pleased. Personally, I would try to match the eyes. Her hair and complexion will change (tans and such), but her eyes won't.

I've heard great things about AG customer service. I'd give them a call. I'm sure they'd work with you.

Good luck.

Aw shoot, missed it! Thanks for posting!

Have you considered the MY TWINN dolls. They are supposed to be made to look just like your daughter. Their website is mytwinn.com.

I had settled on the AG doll and I just bought some patterns so I could make my daughter and the doll some matching clothes, thanks though.

Eva, that doll is so cute with the freckles! I'm sure your daughter will love it!

I let her look at them and she liked the curly blonde one so I am going to call them tomorrow and see if I can exchange. Thanks to everyone for all the help!

If it really bothers you get the lighter one, which I think would be fine for her even if the eye color is different. However, I don't think it matters. My niece actually requested one with brown hair and eyes and she is blond and blue eyed. My DD has the brown haired one you showed as a option if you exchanged it. My DD's coloring is very similar to your DD, although her hair is a bit darker. It has the same skin tone as the first one and looks like she has a tan. I think she is really cute.

We have the curly blonde one....and that curly hair....it will go wild, even when "styled" with the AG brush set. But don't worry, for just 35.00 you can have it restyled at the AG beauty shop at the AG Store.

I would skip the doll with the honey brown hair and hazel eyes because of the care the curly hair requires!! I would suggest either the blond with brown eyes (the one posted in the ebay link) or the Girl of the year doll - Nicki. My neice has Nicki and even though she has wavy hair, it is very manageable. Shes the one that would probably be the closest match to your DD. She has blond/light brown hair and blue eyes. I don't think it is quite that curly in person!

I actually think your daughter looks a lot like the one with honey hair and hazle eyes. I would exchange it. The customer service at AG is the best I have ever called. I am sure they will be glad to do the exchange for you.

Ack! $35? What have I gotten myself into to?

So that Nicki doll's hair is not as curly as the other one? It looks even curlier! Maybe because it is longer the curl falls out. It sounds like this doll is going to have her hair in a permanent pony tail, LOL! Thanks!

Okay, so you know I had to buy a couple of patterns, too. Customs for the AG doll!! Gotta love it!!!

My dd doesn't have many freckles, but she does have a quite a few -- more than my younger dd. Anyway, I always tell her how much I love her freckles -- especially in the summer when they are a bit more noticable. And I really do love them. My dd has a friend that has a few freckles and this girl's mother has had them airbrushed out of a few photos of her dd. She said she doesn't want her dd to look back at these dance portraits years from now and hate them because they show these "imperfections." Poor girl!!
