Inspired by my husband the ACE Regional Representative for MO/KS/AR/ and southern IL, I thought all Disney nuts would be interested. There is some good information below.

The American Coaster Enthusiasts is hosting its 29th Annual Coaster Con at Disney World this year!

Highlights of the event include Late Night ERT on Expedition Everest and Primieval Whirl, Early Morning ERT on Big Thunder and Space Mountain with ITS LIGHTS ON! (yes I said that!)

and night ERT at MGM on Rockin' Roller Coaster at Twilight Tower of Terror.

ERT stands for Exclusive Ride Time when ACE members who have registered for the event have these rides exclusively to themselves. (the largest ACE event ever had about 900 attendees)

The event also includes ERT at Busch Gardens Tampa and Cypress Gardens.

All those interested in ACE can join for for $60, (cost of the event is $360 per person for adults, children are $305). There are also discount rooms rates available for ACE members (you do NOT have to attend the event!) at Coronado Springs for $119 and All Stars Music for $74, plus discounted tickets the week of the event (06/18/2005-06/24/2005)

If it was going on the week before, I would so be there...

I'm sure you'll have a blast, I'm sooo jealous!!

Oh my God!! I check into POR on the 25th. I have done an event like this in Six Flags and really enjoyed the behind the scene stuff. It was really cool! I would have loved to do this especially if SM has its lights on. I used to have a huge fear of coasters but doing events like this and learning about them helps me to enjoy them. Now only if my hubby would go on!!!

Thanks for the info! I would love to go, but the event price is a little steep, since I wouldn't be able to go to all of the events. But I have wanted to join ACE for a long time. Thanks for the link!

Jennifer and I had already talked in PMs about this... I'm so stoked about this. :) It'll be expensive, but fun I'm sure. See you there!

I have seen Space Mountain, not ridden, with the lights on and it was a real surprise.
We have a small steel in-a-dark-building coaster here at Six Flags Over Texas, and during our events we get to ride it with the lights on. To me, it is a much scarier ride with the lights ON, since you can see just how close all of the "head-chopper" ride supports are! I know that usually such "head-choppers" are an optical illusion, and you couldn't really touch the support even if you tried, but I think some of these are real (you couldn't really get "head chopped", but you probably could smack your hand). :scared: :headache:

Yeah, thats about what this looked like. Maybe that is why the seats are so low on that ride. It was like a warehouse (cement everywhere) with these two really tight steel structures. It looked kind of like one of those mouse trap rides at a carnival. All the rides at disney are so well themed and decorated, so it just seemed weird for it to look so barren and industrial. The way we saw it was we were on TT?--those blue cars that go through there, and it stopped for some reason. The lights were all turned on and we could see all of SM. I bet there were all kinds of hats and sunglasses on the floor if someone looked around. I would love to see RNRC with the lights on.
