American Children Back To School in August

Does anyone have any idea what date most of the american children go back to school in August?

It really depends on which state a person lives in and in some cases in which school district you live in. For instance in Georgia, most schools start early August, but a few will start mid August. In NC, there is a law that states that schools cannot start before August 25 and have to end June 10. Some districts in NC get a waiver since they may miss many days due to weather (eg the mountains getting too much snow). The district where my child attends school has 3 different calendars, those who are year round calendar start the first week or so in July, those on modified calendar start in mid to late July, and those on traditional start August 25.

Now my niece and nephew that live in Conneticut don't start school until the day after Labor day, which is at the beginning of Sept.

Crowds tend to dissipate significantly by mid August. Except last year with the Free Dining - reportedly insane!!!

where i'm originally from in Michigan, the schools only go back the first Wednedsay after labor day...
which means the kids aren't back in school until the first or second week of september (depending how labor day falls - it's the first monday in sept)...

It used to be the day after Labor Day when I was a kid in Massachusetts.
